This trick should be illegal. I have never seen people completely destroyed by a magic trick. There are some very impressive skills needed to pull this trick off.
Teller could have left that exact same comment. That was so well done. But I know the trick. You're a REAL wizzard who can summon cards as he wishes. Busted! Lol
I often skim over the episodes just to watch the Fooler, and most are "meh" these past seasons, but this act will always be one of the most memorable in the series.
Very simple, but very impressive, misdirection is what we have here. As at the 1st one at 4:06 when he switches the 4-packs as he swings around to his right. Easy peasy.
Penn & Teller literally transformed about half way through into stunned audience members. There was no analyzing, no how is it done. They sat back and enjoyed the show.
I was amazed but was still watching and trying to see moves so I am sure they were as well. You can pay attention and enjoy things at the same time. It is actually their job.

I’ve watched this video over 50 times. No joke. The most magical part about this is how much fun everyone is having. There wasn’t a moment in time where someone wasn’t laughing or enjoying themselves. That’s real magic. Great job Dani
They finally did it. They finally got an actual wizard on their show. This was wonderful to watch. The joy this man brought not only to the audience but to everyone on stage with him is just fabulous!
Let's be real here it wasn't just the audience and the hosts he brought Joy and that feeling of bafflement and amazement that we would feel as kids even just watching it on TH-cam. This man should have his own show called Fool me Dani.
Well its up to debate... shawn farquhar, jandro and richard turner have shown to be actual wizards as well... i mean having a marked card turned up in a sealed deck of cards? having an alarm to set off when a by lego, clay and a lock enclosed boy opnes? getting any card you want in any position you want while not actually knowing how the cards even look? i qould like to argue we got a quartett of wizards
To see Pen and Teller go back to a place and time when they were once full of wonder and joy for the art of magic; fooled and delighted as we all were, was such a beautiful thing to see. The childlike expressions they had, laughing, giggling, jumping up and down in their chair...it's rare for them to not only be fooled, but thorougly delighted and entertained at the same time. I've never heard of this Dani fella', but boy would I pay to see him perform at a live show 10x over. He deserves all the praise for this performance. What a stand up guy

The best 10 minutes in the history of the show. There have been many great performers, but this is the best of the best. Aside from the incredible skill involved, Dani's enthusiasm and ability to behave like he's just as surprised as his audience that a trick worked is disarming. And I will be using the phrase "cat and complete" from now on in my everyday life.
Penn said in a podcast that he believes that in years to come, when Fool Us no longer exists, people will remember this performance as the best in the whole show.
Besides the awesome card trick on display, its such a great thing that P&T allows the actual creators to post their own tricks and not allow the producing company to DCMA strike these guys. Its awesome to see the support for smaller creators/magicians to get respect and independence from the venue. cheers to Dani and P&T
I like that they allow that but it's a pain to find recent clips on TH-cam. And the quality varies from creator to creator. I wish the show posted in a common place but also linked creator links or creator pages or something like that. Plus, I'm sure not every magician has a TH-cam so we are missing content. Of course, there are other formal ways to actually view the episodes I know.
In case you don't realize, the production company can't really DCMA strike them. Why? Because while the production company owns copyright into the video, the performer owns the copyright in his performance.
Except, sadly, some _have_ gotten copyright striked by the various TV channels internationally who purchased the rights to distribute the show. Shawn Farquhar lost some of his Fool Us vids to that.
he but most people aare judged where as he isnt, why is he different? because if it was as fair for him as everyone else then we would all know how it is done,, remember magic isnt real and it is pretty much impossible to do what he did unless he knew which card she was thinking of.. thats a hint on how its done,, the force is with you ;)
Fair enough. I deliberately avoid buying any of his material as I know I’d never do it and perform it as well as him. So I prefer to sit back and be fooled.
I think at the end, when Allison says the card, both Penn and Teller were expecting some kind of additional trickery or moves or just literally anything to make the trick seem possible because he didnt know the card yet. And when he says “Thank you very much” and turns it over they seem 100% just totally stunned.
This is truly mind blowing. And from what I heard Dani had only come to the set to support one of his friends who was on the show. The producers saw he was there, begged him to perform something on the show, and that is how we got this performance. He literally did this on the fly.

@@BurgMusic Pre-Performance videos are always done after the show recordings. Even when the audience was there, they weren't shown these videos as only for acts, that ended up in the final cut of the show, videos where shot.

@@petergriffin8767 Dani said in the interview with Javi Benitez (you can find it on TH-cam) that it pretty much was like the OC said: Dani doesn't do television, because he doesn't like it and he has refused to go on FU many times. So it's in some way true: He was in Vegas because friends of him were there and then he was convinced to come on camera but only under the premise that he gets his 10 minutes and doesn't need to cut down his trick. So it's pretty lucky we got him.
This guy has to be one of the best card mechanics on the planet. That was legendary. Other than putting the three on top of the box, which most people only saw after re-watch, I don't think a single other move of this entire routine was detected by anybody at the table or watching the act.
This is legitimately the best magic act i have ever seen. What is amazing is you realize he has superhuman card handling/control skills but he's SO good he makes it look like he's doing nothing.
Even though we "know" it's a sleight of hand trick, it still appears as impossible magic even on recorded video! He had people directly to his left and right WTF! My trick was that I guessed that he'd guess the #21 and I thought her card was Queen of Hearts but it was Jack of Hearts. "I don't know how I don't know how" that showmanship how he's also impressed is perfect!!
Everybody tries to sell penn & teller that it was "fair" shuffle, cuts, props, being a normal deck as clean as possible. But this guy does the opposite just bc he can.

it's even more impressive when you know how it's done. so many things could have gone wrong. there's two times in particular where he had to physically grab someone's hand to prevent the trick from going awry
Yeah he definitely would've messed it up. In the beginning Donny Osmand even grabbed the deck to "make sure it wasn't a trick deck" and it turns out none of that was planned. You never touch the Magician's cards or props or anything and he did it yet Dani handled it so gracefully.
2:57 Totally nonchalant misdirection while he moved that box with the card in his hand was so beautiful! Dani's moves are so clean and crisp. It brings tears to my eyes.
i wondered too if Penn and especially Teller saw the card on the box. this doesn't help P and T but they did a camera shot from above the table. wonder how many noticed the card.......... that trick is pretty explainable. there was time gap between him being told the card and finding it in the deck and putting it there (not sure how he finds the cards though). then the next thing where Donny mentions any card (although i'm thinking a semi-force and multiples out there) is absolutely mind-blowing. That and Mac King Guinea Pig and Shawn Farquhar original deck are the greatest moments ever.
This is a performance for an audience of one. He's taking Teller for a ride, back to the land of wonder from seeing the first card trick as a kid. He's having a conversation with a man that doesn't speak in words. He's explaining, step by step, which trick he will do, and how he will do it. Then he does it and melts Teller's mind. Also entertaining the rest of the world is a side-effect. Being able to experience that wonder is the biggest thing magicians lose when taking up the art, and being able to do it to another magician is a mark of mastery. Chasing the feeling is the stated goal by P&T for doing the show. Watch the video again, and look at Teller exclusively. Watch how he slowly is transformed from judge to fellow magician to spectator to kid in a candyshop. THAT is the real magic trick on display here, and it is a once-in-a-generation masterpiece.
THIS. Teller was the true audience. After the three on the box, he was a kid again! And that's a trick Teller can easily do himself, but the mastery of the movement and voice actually pulled him in. Dani made him stop burning. Incredible.
@@jericcastillo4286 what I mean to say is that he is using a trick with very basic mechanics (locating a card, palming it, misdirecting attention away from placing it), but that he is so good at them that he gets to use them in new ways. It's traditional magic, but on a new level.
Definitely one of the strongest acts ever on Fool Us. So great to see not only P&T but also Alyson (who's become a bit jaded after 10 years of watching a LOT of magicians) completely enchanted, entertained and legit *destroyed.* Dani is a force of nature and a very diabolical magician.
That is when a trick is great. Penn has said it himself. He knows so much about magic he is rarely surprised by a trick so when it does happen he gets to feel that particular joy again.
@@es330td It's my opinion that the passion and love for that is exactly why they made the show. To find that rare talent that can do what Dani has done here. They obviously live for that. Thankfully, we get to go along for this ride!
@Mr Mavvy Jaded in the sense that anyone who watches a lot of magic over a many years is *much* harder to impress. Alyson has seen almost every approach and plot in magic, and she has a strong sense of the structure and grammar of magic even if she's not particularly knowledgable about all its various techniques. She's an awesome host and she knows how to play along but she can't possibly watch magic with the eyes of an average lay person. Dani completely bypassed any defenses she might have had up. He is such a disarming presence that you can almost see the moment (maybe 2 1/2 minutes in?) when she's no longer evaluating and just totally surrenders to the ride.
Alyson's reaction at the end kills me every time and I love it. Not only is she completely in shock after maybe expecting to see another average magic act, you can see her looking to Penn to see what he thought and then she realizes he is just as stunned as she is and she doesn't know what to make of that information. So wonderful to see everyone's minds just fried by the end of this.

I have been performing magic for over 20 years. I am a member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians, The Society of American Magicians and a member of our local magic club here in Louisville, Kentucky. I myself particularly enjoy performing card tricks since a deck of cards is very easy to carry around with you. That being said, this demonstration by Dani DaOrtiz absolutely, positively blew me right out of my chair. I have no earthly clue as to how this was accomplished. I had the same reaction as Teller did when he simulated his head exploding. Great trick! Well done!
(VERY far fetched but:) I kind of think it might have something to do with hypnosis as it's quite interesting to me that the only choices that mattered were from Alison and the... other guy. Penn was asked ONCE to think of a card and it was only for a trick where it vanished and got restored, not related to finding it in the deck. Imagine Alison and ... the other guy were told beforehand exactly what to say on each step and watch the act again.
@@Panossa Hypnosis is not allowed and must be prepared beforehand to be 100% effective. Force is the most probable explanation by elimination but how he did it is unknown.
@@trym2121 I don't think it could have been a force. I can't even conceptualize how someone would be able to find the cards after a force with other people shuffling it and everything. I was thinking while watching it that there had to be some element of mentalism, but I'm not well versed enough in mentalism to know anything to look for.
@rubbertoad3681 From what I understand, when it comes to card mechanics, because the trick is there IS no trick, they judge it on whether or not they could follow each move as it happens. When Richard Turner came on, Penn said something to the effect of "We know WHAT you are doing, we just can't tell when you're doing it". The exception that proves the rule is Kostya Kimlat's second trick, because the idea of there being no trick was a twist on the formula, whereas guys like Dani and Richard Turner are upfront about it
The way Dani points at Teller and makes eye contact to steal his attention for a split second to hide the card on the box at 2:59 is unbelievable. This has to be the only performance that becomes even more magical when you know how it’s done. Truly incredible
I caught the placement of the card on the box the second time, but not the point at Teller to direct his attention away from it. I've never seen anyone in such absolute control of a group of people before. Everyone was putty in that guy's hands.

Agreed. Daortiz' style is just so natural, much like his mentor Juan Tamariz. Also, for amazing random card mastery, check out Lennart Green! Another wizard with cards who appears to have never even held a deck...and miracles just happen.
My favorite thing about the video is when he finally finished the trick, nobody claps or makes a sound for a few seconds as they're trying to process what the hell just happened. Amazing!!!
This was by far the most confident, savage, brutal routine I have ever seen. Sleight of hand, IMPERCEPTABLE. Swaps in the double digits, probably? HIGH doubles, like 40-60 swaps, no one could see them. Penn, Teller, us with a magnifying glass... INVISIBLE. He could have produced a live chicken on Allison's head and asked if she feels like having eggs for breakfast, and she would have contemplated it for a full minute before he grabbed ol' Rosie off her head!
We in Spain have always had truly masters at cardmagic, now Dani DaOrtiz is the best of them all, this guy is incredible and his magic unbelievable. Penn and Teller's reaction says it all.
I have been waiting for this moment and love that P&T did not even bother to delay the trophy. Even when Dani tells you how he does it, he is still magic.
His funniest joke for me was on another video, when he's making fun of Alyson's shuffle before spreading the deck he says "I do nothing". So in the other video a similar thing happened and he said "I do nothing, I'm fat (and grabs his belly), I do nothing".
There are magicians nowadays who also do cardistry, showing off their dexterity. But the best magicians in the world, the classic magicians, do magic in a way that makes it seem like it’s just “happening” to them; like they are just along for the ride just like we are. Dani does that better than anyone else.
I showed this to my wife last night. She isn't interested in magic like I am. I am happy to report she sat in awe and amazement and now is interested in magic. Well done,, Sir. /salute Sarge
I don't even have words to how incredibly amazing that was. Card magic often seems rigid to me, but your performance was extremely fluid, giving the impression that you don't even have to follow any rules, you can just do anything you want and magic will inevitably happen. And to give that impression in front of experienced magicians and having them handle the cards is even more amazing. I really hope I could be able to see your show live some day!
This is spot on. Dani's technical skill has to be very high as well as the amount of innovation in the trick, but what's just as amazing is how natural he lets a card trick flow as just some fun, which is very hard to do because card tricks often seem so overdone.

This is just one of the most beautiful and entertaining performances in the history of Fool Us, and knowing that he wasn't't even scheduled to do it is completely mind-blowing to me. I had to know how it was done so I bought Dani's walkthrough / explainer video, and now that I know... it's even better to watch. Somehow it is even more magical now. Absolutely incredible. What a phenomenal entertainer!

@@a.s.8671 Dani mentioned on an hour long video with Javi Benitez that he has done/practiced this trick thousands of times. The first half is all improvised based upon what is selected, where the box is and how people respond. The ritual also has backups as well if needed. Can anyone perform the ritual with practice? Sure. Skill level to perform flawlessly on television with 2 master magicians at the table? Probably just him in the world.
This performance is my happy place. If I ever need cheering up or if I'm feeling down. I've seen this so much I dont need to actually watch it anymore, I can just rewatch it in my head and never fails to make me happy
What's so magical about this is not the card tricks themselves, but Dani. He's got a big heart and it shows. I enjoyed him as a performer more than the magic itself.
I had the privilege of watching his live performance. The audience roared with applauding, cheering and laughing. He was simply the best card magician alive, with an affable, down-to-earth personality.
Speechless and in tears. For the first time ever after seeing a cardtrick. Almost the same feeling I got when watching the first Jurassic Park movie and the dinosaurs felt so real. Here magic felt real. It was beatiful. Thank you for making this almost 50 year old guy feel like a kid again in a world full of wonders. :)

The sleight of hand this man exhibits is so good and so smooth, even Teller was mind blown by the pure skill. Like when the 3 of hearts was put on top of the box, Teller himself CANNOT see it happen, he is even more shocked by it than everyone else because it happened in his peripheral vision. Just amazing.
I have returned to this video many times, and enjoy it thoroughly each time. Beyond the amazing sleight of hand, my favorite part is how effortlessly funny and entertaining Dani is during the entire routine. So many magicians try to be "funny" through forced patter and hacky jokes, but Dani is just genuinely charismatic and lets his personality shine through.
This has to be one of the most impressive magic tricks ever done its so long yet it's executed perfectly and everyone is laughing and smiling the whole time.
This guy, Jandro, and Christian Engblom all knew Juan Tamariz… Perhaps it’s no coincidence that all three of these magicians utterly destroyed Penn and Teller. Seriously mind blowing stuff. Amazing.
Of coure it's not. The spanish school is just full of geniuses, where the average ones are above average compared to magicians outside of that country.
Other magicians do magic. This guy *lives* magic. The performance is fractal in nature. There are tricks within tricks within tricks here. He has total control at all moments, everything has a purpose and is improvized perfectly.
And maybe most important: He does have a backup plan at every point in the trick. As you said, the performance is fractal, but I'm quite sure, even if something breaks, we would not notice it, because he would blend seamlessly into his backup.
in my two years of watching multiple penn & teller clips, seeing them perform in vegas.. how have i not seen this routine?!! i am in tears from laughter, my jaw is on the floor from the performance and my mind is blown.

I feel so lucky that I clicked Penn's Sunday School and it brought me here. My mind is blowing at 4am. It was the funniest and most surreal magic I've ever seen.
I'm with all three of them. I'm never going to slow the video down, try and watch for any and every move, or try and keep up with this beautifully crafted maniac. I'm just going to watch it over and over and smile at how awesome this magician is.
But the most amazing part of this trick is that it even fools people that know where to check the moves. Thats the difference between a good trick and a masterpiece of a trick. At the eyes of someone who doesnt know the basics of magic both may look the same. Since both tricks, the mediocre and the great can have the same effect and explanation: 'Its just magic' What is truly amazing is see magicians or people with knowledge getting mindfucked because the only explanation of a trick is a level of mastery and control that is so out of this world that they second guess themselves if its even possible.
I've been into card magic for 28 years now, and the that last one (JH) just destroyed me! I love that people like the caliber of Dani can make me feel like a layman again...this feeling I have right now, after watching this set, is the reason I got into magic! God bless
yes but some of the tricks simply involve people secretly playing a part in the trick or its set up. in other words we are fooled to believe the authenticity of P&T.
@@aethanfriday3568 A lot of magicians do an AC/AL routine where they can take advantage of hitting a 1 in 52 highroll, and cut the routine short when there normally would be another reveal. This feels like we just witnessed someone hit the jackpot in one of those routines.
@@G.Aaron.Fisher nah it's not an out, it should work every time, he taught something similar using the same method in Borrowed Deck Miracles on vanishing inc so I know the method and it's super clever but does work every time (if you do it right)

The sheer astonishment and natural joy on everyone's face during the entire length of the performance is enough to justify the claim made at the start. Dani Sir, you are simply extraordinary! such a highwire act. so many moments could have gone wrong that one could find it hard to believe he could do this routine consistently. but somehow i feel like this guy clutches it out every time no matter what happens. total control.
His hour-long interview on his channel goes into how it almost went wrong so many times! From Donny Osmond grabbing the deck at the start, to Alyson Hannigan not following instructions well on shuffling and dealing the cards into the pile (you can see that he peeks the jack of hearts before finishing the trick in case it landed on the wrong card and he was prepared to improvise a different ending). The whole time he's in control. Truly a masterclass on control of the participants, as well as the cards.
I never comment on any videos but this man has changed my life since I watched him from my childhood,I watched all of his material.... I hoped and wished that one day I'd see him in fool us.... I'm so happy to see my wish granted! I learned the true magic again, the magic of happiness from dani. The best of all magicians, a true legend!
That might actually be one of the greatest card tricks ever performed. Shin Lim included. That was absolutely stunning. I will have to watch that a few times. A work of art. I love teller’s face…. There’s no doubt he psychologically played them. But being enthralled, it was easy to fool them. The guy is the best.
@@NT_1 I'm always more impressed by actual Close-Up Magicians than Stage Close-Up Magicians. If Shim tried to do his act in an actual close-up environment (not stage controlled like he has it). None of his "magic" would pass muster.

Lookup Tony Chang and Earnest Ericks Legendary book 'By Forces Unseen' (most likely you've heard of them). I'm studying that book and it is ELITE sleight of hand.

I don't remember all the magicians' names, but it seems like every time they have a magician from Spain, that magician has an amazing trick that's on a higher level than the tricks from most other magicians on the show. (Jandro is one example who comes to mind, but he's not the only one.) That's my opinion. If you come to a different conclusion, that's fine.
That's genuinely the most astonishing magic trick I've ever seen, and over 40 decades I've seen a lot of magic tricks. I'm sat here feeling like I've watched real magic. I don't even want to know how it's done

Easily one of the top acts of all time on the show. The pure joy it brought out in penn and teller, and entire audience, was palpable. Hell of a performance.
I was fortunate enough to have him visit a show in my home town in Bulgaria last week and he performed a longer version of this trick... it was amazing!!! You sir bring smiles to people faces!
"he performed a longer version of this trick" Now, the question is did he perform a longer version of the trick or did he perform the same version but it just took longer because the people choosing the cards weren't choosing what he was trying to get them to choose and so he needed to play "bumbling foreign magician" act a lot more until they finally did and he could end it?
At 2:48 the lady said for the first time "three of hearts"... after four seconds this magician, has already forced the card on top of the deck. Mind blowing!
My already overloaded brain cried out in agony @4:53 when he said "This is nothing... this is not the trick." In addition to being absolutely amazing, it was one of the funniest things I've ever experienced.
"Penn and Teller didn’t even try to figure out." Thats how i felt aswell. Usually rewatch acts and try to find out, but with this one? nah, i chose to believe its actual magic. What a wonderful performance.
The balls of that move from 2:50 onwards is insane. Right in front of Pen and Tellers face and they didn't even notice. That's some real crowd control right there.
P&T are masters of misdirection. In particular, Penn is master of the flashy showmanship and Teller is master of the sneaky. Dani does both of those, right in front of their faces, and neither notices. That look on Teller's face tells me, "Well, damn. I should've seen that. I think I did see that. I didn't see that. He actually got me. Like, actually." And then Penn's audible gasp/inhale at the realization.... Easily one of the top 3 moments in this act!

I have watched a lot of Fool Us for the past 5 years, and this absolutely the best performance on the show. It was hilarious and the tricks were mind-blowing, what an absolute genius.
After watching a video exposing these tricks, as well as Dani's post-performance interview, I still find myself coming back to this video almost daily. It's such an impressive feat, especially knowing how many hiccups there were in this performance that he just smoothes over like they're not even there. I just really love this performance.
Probably one of the best and worst thing about performance art is screwing up. The difference between a novice and a master is whether or not you notice the mistake.
What a true professional and lover of what he does, magic: he was having a full blast on stage. Teller was with tears at some point; that says it all. You could clearly hear Danni's pure of enjoyment and sincere laughter, punch line after punch line, after punch line (yes, that many, and all of them incredibly great), that also tells it all... the world needs professionals like these, to help us remember how beautiful life is, by witnessing such an spectacle of pure enjoyment, you could almost see it in the air. What a party, what a blast. What a masterclass.
Yeah the speed at which he's doing pass is _insane_ (think Kostya Kimlat's RC in terms of how difficult it must be to master - if you watch his performance you see that Peen gets angry at Kostya _because_ he tried to learn the method and he can't do it).
What makes it impossible or at the very least ultra highly improvable its the fact that the card was mentioned for the first time only after he counted the cards. This is truly the best performance of any card at any number ever. I cannot stop watching this video. Amazing!
This is one of those performances that you immediately want to watch over and over again and will sure revisit to watch time and time again. Wow! What a performance! The humor, the charisma, the misdirect, the force, the sleight, the magic! You bring joy to the world sir! Very excited to see all your other performances on this channel
I love how normally the comments are always "he palmed a card" or "he pulled it out of his sleeve" or some sort of explanation...but these comments are all about how this guy actually used magic and how amazingly awesome it was...normally i would try to find a youtube of HOW it was done but this time...im just gonna agree, that guy is a wizard
What gets me is even if you saw every flash of every move you’d only know WHAT he did and never HOW. The cardistry at play is so expert level and yet is only a small fraction of the overall trick because this is actual sorcery.
The only part I caught was at 2:57 you can see him load the 3 of Hearts of learning that was Alyson's card. But that is just one tiny part of the trick, and his misdirection to keep those right in front of him from noticing is incredible

Penn & Teller literally transformed about half way through into stunned audience members. There was no analyzing, no how is it done. They sat back and enjoyed the show.
I was amazed but was still watching and trying to see moves so I am sure they were as well. You can pay attention and enjoy things at the same time. It is actually their job.

To see Pen and Teller go back to a place and time when they were once full of wonder and joy for the art of magic; fooled and delighted as we all were, was such a beautiful thing to see. The childlike expressions they had, laughing, giggling, jumping up and down in their chair...it's rare for them to not only be fooled, but thorougly delighted and entertained at the same time.
I've never heard of this Dani fella', but boy would I pay to see him perform at a live show 10x over. He deserves all the praise for this performance. What a stand up guy

Penn went on record after the show, and said Dani's possibly the greatest card magician there is.
The best 10 minutes in the history of the show. There have been many great performers, but this is the best of the best. Aside from the incredible skill involved, Dani's enthusiasm and ability to behave like he's just as surprised as his audience that a trick worked is disarming. And I will be using the phrase "cat and complete" from now on in my everyday life.
Penn said in a podcast that he believes that in years to come, when Fool Us no longer exists, people will remember this performance as the best in the whole show.

Besides the awesome card trick on display, its such a great thing that P&T allows the actual creators to post their own tricks and not allow the producing company to DCMA strike these guys. Its awesome to see the support for smaller creators/magicians to get respect and independence from the venue. cheers to Dani and P&T
This is the only way I've watched the show, individually through TH-cam clips. I haven't had cable since 2008.
I like that they allow that but it's a pain to find recent clips on TH-cam. And the quality varies from creator to creator. I wish the show posted in a common place but also linked creator links or creator pages or something like that. Plus, I'm sure not every magician has a TH-cam so we are missing content. Of course, there are other formal ways to actually view the episodes I know.
In case you don't realize, the production company can't really DCMA strike them. Why? Because while the production company owns copyright into the video, the performer owns the copyright in his performance.

Fair enough. I deliberately avoid buying any of his material as I know I’d never do it and perform it as well as him. So I prefer to sit back and be fooled.
I think at the end, when Allison says the card, both Penn and Teller were expecting some kind of additional trickery or moves or just literally anything to make the trick seem possible because he didnt know the card yet. And when he says “Thank you very much” and turns it over they seem 100% just totally stunned.
This is truly mind blowing. And from what I heard Dani had only come to the set to support one of his friends who was on the show. The producers saw he was there, begged him to perform something on the show, and that is how we got this performance. He literally did this on the fly.

@@BurgMusic Pre-Performance videos are always done after the show recordings. Even when the audience was there, they weren't shown these videos as only for acts, that ended up in the final cut of the show, videos where shot.

So it's in some way true: He was in Vegas because friends of him were there and then he was convinced to come on camera but only under the premise that he gets his 10 minutes and doesn't need to cut down his trick. So it's pretty lucky we got him.

This guy has to be one of the best card mechanics on the planet. That was legendary. Other than putting the three on top of the box, which most people only saw after re-watch, I don't think a single other move of this entire routine was detected by anybody at the table or watching the act.
I'm pretty sure I saw the 8h "restore" as well, but I missed the 3 on box first watch. Didn't see anything else.
The best is Juan Tamariz by far, he mentioned him in the video. A legend in spanish TV shows from about 40 years or more. 🎻🎻🎻

Even though we "know" it's a sleight of hand trick, it still appears as impossible magic even on recorded video! He had people directly to his left and right WTF! My trick was that I guessed that he'd guess the #21 and I thought her card was Queen of Hearts but it was Jack of Hearts. "I don't know how I don't know how" that showmanship how he's also impressed is perfect!!
Everybody tries to sell penn & teller that it was "fair" shuffle, cuts, props, being a normal deck as clean as possible. But this guy does the opposite just bc he can.

Most card tricks I see are boring as hell. This one was super entertaining, funny, clever and flawlessly executed! I love it!
it's even more impressive when you know how it's done. so many things could have gone wrong. there's two times in particular where he had to physically grab someone's hand to prevent the trick from going awry

Yeah he definitely would've messed it up. In the beginning Donny Osmand even grabbed the deck to "make sure it wasn't a trick deck" and it turns out none of that was planned. You never touch the Magician's cards or props or anything and he did it yet Dani handled it so gracefully.

Totally nonchalant misdirection while he moved that box with the card in his hand was so beautiful! Dani's moves are so clean and crisp. It brings tears to my eyes.
If you watch closely you can see the placement of the card but penn didn’t see it because there was so much going on
i wondered too if Penn and especially Teller saw the card on the box. this doesn't help P and T but they did a camera shot from above the table. wonder how many noticed the card.......... that trick is pretty explainable. there was time gap between him being told the card and finding it in the deck and putting it there (not sure how he finds the cards though). then the next thing where Donny mentions any card (although i'm thinking a semi-force and multiples out there) is absolutely mind-blowing. That and Mac King Guinea Pig and Shawn Farquhar original deck are the greatest moments ever.
This is a performance for an audience of one. He's taking Teller for a ride, back to the land of wonder from seeing the first card trick as a kid. He's having a conversation with a man that doesn't speak in words. He's explaining, step by step, which trick he will do, and how he will do it. Then he does it and melts Teller's mind. Also entertaining the rest of the world is a side-effect.
Being able to experience that wonder is the biggest thing magicians lose when taking up the art, and being able to do it to another magician is a mark of mastery. Chasing the feeling is the stated goal by P&T for doing the show.
Watch the video again, and look at Teller exclusively. Watch how he slowly is transformed from judge to fellow magician to spectator to kid in a candyshop. THAT is the real magic trick on display here, and it is a once-in-a-generation masterpiece.
THIS. Teller was the true audience. After the three on the box, he was a kid again! And that's a trick Teller can easily do himself, but the mastery of the movement and voice actually pulled him in. Dani made him stop burning. Incredible.

I didn't realize it on first viewing, but yes: that "You need to see! You need to see!" was directed straight at Teller. Awesome.

@@jericcastillo4286 what I mean to say is that he is using a trick with very basic mechanics (locating a card, palming it, misdirecting attention away from placing it), but that he is so good at them that he gets to use them in new ways. It's traditional magic, but on a new level.
Definitely one of the strongest acts ever on Fool Us. So great to see not only P&T but also Alyson (who's become a bit jaded after 10 years of watching a LOT of magicians) completely enchanted, entertained and legit *destroyed.* Dani is a force of nature and a very diabolical magician.
That is when a trick is great. Penn has said it himself. He knows so much about magic he is rarely surprised by a trick so when it does happen he gets to feel that particular joy again.

@Mr Mavvy Jaded in the sense that anyone who watches a lot of magic over a many years is *much* harder to impress. Alyson has seen almost every approach and plot in magic, and she has a strong sense of the structure and grammar of magic even if she's not particularly knowledgable about all its various techniques. She's an awesome host and she knows how to play along but she can't possibly watch magic with the eyes of an average lay person. Dani completely bypassed any defenses she might have had up. He is such a disarming presence that you can almost see the moment (maybe 2 1/2 minutes in?) when she's no longer evaluating and just totally surrenders to the ride.
Alyson's reaction at the end kills me every time and I love it. Not only is she completely in shock after maybe expecting to see another average magic act, you can see her looking to Penn to see what he thought and then she realizes he is just as stunned as she is and she doesn't know what to make of that information. So wonderful to see everyone's minds just fried by the end of this.
Dani's real trick is to pretend he is a magician to hide the fact that he is a wizard.

I have been performing magic for over 20 years. I am a member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians, The Society of American Magicians and a member of our local magic club here in Louisville, Kentucky. I myself particularly enjoy performing card tricks since a deck of cards is very easy to carry around with you. That being said, this demonstration by Dani DaOrtiz absolutely, positively blew me right out of my chair. I have no earthly clue as to how this was accomplished. I had the same reaction as Teller did when he simulated his head exploding. Great trick! Well done!
(VERY far fetched but:) I kind of think it might have something to do with hypnosis as it's quite interesting to me that the only choices that mattered were from Alison and the... other guy. Penn was asked ONCE to think of a card and it was only for a trick where it vanished and got restored, not related to finding it in the deck. Imagine Alison and ... the other guy were told beforehand exactly what to say on each step and watch the act again.

Force is the most probable explanation by elimination but how he did it is unknown.

I was thinking while watching it that there had to be some element of mentalism, but I'm not well versed enough in mentalism to know anything to look for.

@rubbertoad3681 From what I understand, when it comes to card mechanics, because the trick is there IS no trick, they judge it on whether or not they could follow each move as it happens. When Richard Turner came on, Penn said something to the effect of "We know WHAT you are doing, we just can't tell when you're doing it". The exception that proves the rule is Kostya Kimlat's second trick, because the idea of there being no trick was a twist on the formula, whereas guys like Dani and Richard Turner are upfront about it

My favorite thing about the video is when he finally finished the trick, nobody claps or makes a sound for a few seconds as they're trying to process what the hell just happened. Amazing!!!
This was by far the most confident, savage, brutal routine I have ever seen. Sleight of hand, IMPERCEPTABLE. Swaps in the double digits, probably? HIGH doubles, like 40-60 swaps, no one could see them. Penn, Teller, us with a magnifying glass... INVISIBLE. He could have produced a live chicken on Allison's head and asked if she feels like having eggs for breakfast, and she would have contemplated it for a full minute before he grabbed ol' Rosie off her head!

We in Spain have always had truly masters at cardmagic, now Dani DaOrtiz is the best of them all, this guy is incredible and his magic unbelievable. Penn and Teller's reaction says it all.

His funniest joke for me was on another video, when he's making fun of Alyson's shuffle before spreading the deck he says "I do nothing". So in the other video a similar thing happened and he said "I do nothing, I'm fat (and grabs his belly), I do nothing".
There are magicians nowadays who also do cardistry, showing off their dexterity. But the best magicians in the world, the classic magicians, do magic in a way that makes it seem like it’s just “happening” to them; like they are just along for the ride just like we are. Dani does that better than anyone else.
I showed this to my wife last night. She isn't interested in magic like I am. I am happy to report she sat in awe and amazement and now is interested in magic. Well done,, Sir.

I don't even have words to how incredibly amazing that was. Card magic often seems rigid to me, but your performance was extremely fluid, giving the impression that you don't even have to follow any rules, you can just do anything you want and magic will inevitably happen. And to give that impression in front of experienced magicians and having them handle the cards is even more amazing.
I really hope I could be able to see your show live some day!
This is spot on. Dani's technical skill has to be very high as well as the amount of innovation in the trick, but what's just as amazing is how natural he lets a card trick flow as just some fun, which is very hard to do because card tricks often seem so overdone.

I had to know how it was done so I bought Dani's walkthrough / explainer video, and now that I know... it's even better to watch. Somehow it is even more magical now. Absolutely incredible. What a phenomenal entertainer!

@@a.s.8671 Dani mentioned on an hour long video with Javi Benitez that he has done/practiced this trick thousands of times. The first half is all improvised based upon what is selected, where the box is and how people respond. The ritual also has backups as well if needed. Can anyone perform the ritual with practice? Sure. Skill level to perform flawlessly on television with 2 master magicians at the table? Probably just him in the world.

What's so magical about this is not the card tricks themselves, but Dani. He's got a big heart and it shows. I enjoyed him as a performer more than the magic itself.
I had the privilege of watching his live performance. The audience roared with applauding, cheering and laughing. He was simply the best card magician alive, with an affable, down-to-earth personality.

Almost the same feeling I got when watching the first Jurassic Park movie and the dinosaurs felt so real.

This was the best card trick I've seen. I have watched most of Penn and Teller guests. This was unbelievable.
The sleight of hand this man exhibits is so good and so smooth, even Teller was mind blown by the pure skill. Like when the 3 of hearts was put on top of the box, Teller himself CANNOT see it happen, he is even more shocked by it than everyone else because it happened in his peripheral vision. Just amazing.

I have returned to this video many times, and enjoy it thoroughly each time. Beyond the amazing sleight of hand, my favorite part is how effortlessly funny and entertaining Dani is during the entire routine. So many magicians try to be "funny" through forced patter and hacky jokes, but Dani is just genuinely charismatic and lets his personality shine through.
This has to be one of the most impressive magic tricks ever done its so long yet it's executed perfectly and everyone is laughing and smiling the whole time.
The best part of this is watching Teller's reaction while getting his mind blown.
This was, legitimately, one of the best card performances I've ever seen. A VERY well deserved Fool Us trophy!

This guy, Jandro, and Christian Engblom all knew Juan Tamariz… Perhaps it’s no coincidence that all three of these magicians utterly destroyed Penn and Teller. Seriously mind blowing stuff. Amazing.
Of coure it's not. The spanish school is just full of geniuses, where the average ones are above average compared to magicians outside of that country.
Other magicians do magic. This guy *lives* magic. The performance is fractal in nature. There are tricks within tricks within tricks here. He has total control at all moments, everything has a purpose and is improvized perfectly.
And maybe most important: He does have a backup plan at every point in the trick. As you said, the performance is fractal, but I'm quite sure, even if something breaks, we would not notice it, because he would blend seamlessly into his backup.
in my two years of watching multiple penn & teller clips, seeing them perform in vegas.. how have i not seen this routine?!! i am in tears from laughter, my jaw is on the floor from the performance and my mind is blown.

It was the funniest and most surreal magic I've ever seen.

I'm with all three of them. I'm never going to slow the video down, try and watch for any and every move, or try and keep up with this beautifully crafted maniac. I'm just going to watch it over and over and smile at how awesome this magician is.
But the most amazing part of this trick is that it even fools people that know where to check the moves.
Thats the difference between a good trick and a masterpiece of a trick.
At the eyes of someone who doesnt know the basics of magic both may look the same. Since both tricks, the mediocre and the great can have the same effect and explanation: 'Its just magic'
What is truly amazing is see magicians or people with knowledge getting mindfucked because the only explanation of a trick is a level of mastery and control that is so out of this world that they second guess themselves if its even possible.

yes but some of the tricks simply involve people secretly playing a part in the trick or its set up. in other words we are fooled to believe the authenticity of P&T.

@@aethanfriday3568 A lot of magicians do an AC/AL routine where they can take advantage of hitting a 1 in 52 highroll, and cut the routine short when there normally would be another reveal. This feels like we just witnessed someone hit the jackpot in one of those routines.

such a highwire act. so many moments could have gone wrong that one could find it hard to believe he could do this routine consistently. but somehow i feel like this guy clutches it out every time no matter what happens. total control.
His hour-long interview on his channel goes into how it almost went wrong so many times! From Donny Osmond grabbing the deck at the start, to Alyson Hannigan not following instructions well on shuffling and dealing the cards into the pile (you can see that he peeks the jack of hearts before finishing the trick in case it landed on the wrong card and he was prepared to improvise a different ending). The whole time he's in control. Truly a masterclass on control of the participants, as well as the cards.
I never comment on any videos but this man has changed my life since I watched him from my childhood,I watched all of his material.... I hoped and wished that one day I'd see him in fool us.... I'm so happy to see my wish granted! I learned the true magic again, the magic of happiness from dani.

@@NT_1 I'm always more impressed by actual Close-Up Magicians than Stage Close-Up Magicians. If Shim tried to do his act in an actual close-up environment (not stage controlled like he has it). None of his "magic" would pass muster.

I don't remember all the magicians' names, but it seems like every time they have a magician from Spain, that magician has an amazing trick that's on a higher level than the tricks from most other magicians on the show. (Jandro is one example who comes to mind, but he's not the only one.)
That's my opinion. If you come to a different conclusion, that's fine.

I've been watching this show for many years. The warmup trick alone put this one at the top of all time. The final reveal had me in awe
I was fortunate enough to have him visit a show in my home town in Bulgaria last week and he performed a longer version of this trick... it was amazing!!! You sir bring smiles to people faces!

Now, the question is did he perform a longer version of the trick or did he perform the same version but it just took longer because the people choosing the cards weren't choosing what he was trying to get them to choose and so he needed to play "bumbling foreign magician" act a lot more until they finally did and he could end it?

At 2:48 the lady said for the first time "three of hearts"... after four seconds this magician, has already forced the card on top of the deck. Mind blowing!
My already overloaded brain cried out in agony @4:53 when he said "This is nothing... this is not the trick." In addition to being absolutely amazing, it was one of the funniest things I've ever experienced.

The balls of that move from 2:50 onwards is insane. Right in front of Pen and Tellers face and they didn't even notice. That's some real crowd control right there.
P&T are masters of misdirection. In particular, Penn is master of the flashy showmanship and Teller is master of the sneaky. Dani does both of those, right in front of their faces, and neither notices. That look on Teller's face tells me, "Well, damn. I should've seen that. I think I did see that. I didn't see that. He actually got me. Like, actually." And then Penn's audible gasp/inhale at the realization.... Easily one of the top 3 moments in this act!
I think Penn notices the card on the box. He looks down and smiles a little.

I have watched a lot of Fool Us for the past 5 years, and this absolutely the best performance on the show. It was hilarious and the tricks were mind-blowing, what an absolute genius.
After watching a video exposing these tricks, as well as Dani's post-performance interview, I still find myself coming back to this video almost daily. It's such an impressive feat, especially knowing how many hiccups there were in this performance that he just smoothes over like they're not even there. I just really love this performance.
Probably one of the best and worst thing about performance art is screwing up. The difference between a novice and a master is whether or not you notice the mistake.
What a true professional and lover of what he does, magic: he was having a full blast on stage. Teller was with tears at some point; that says it all. You could clearly hear Danni's pure of enjoyment and sincere laughter, punch line after punch line, after punch line (yes, that many, and all of them incredibly great), that also tells it all... the world needs professionals like these, to help us remember how beautiful life is, by witnessing such an spectacle of pure enjoyment, you could almost see it in the air. What a party, what a blast. What a masterclass.
There's a lot of amazing stuff here, but the speed at which he locates and reveals the 2 of Clubs after Donny selects it is astounding.

Yeah the speed at which he's doing pass is _insane_ (think Kostya Kimlat's RC in terms of how difficult it must be to master - if you watch his performance you see that Peen gets angry at Kostya _because_ he tried to learn the method and he can't do it).

What makes it impossible or at the very least ultra highly improvable its the fact that the card was mentioned for the first time only after he counted the cards. This is truly the best performance of any card at any number ever. I cannot stop watching this video. Amazing!

I love how normally the comments are always "he palmed a card" or "he pulled it out of his sleeve" or some sort of explanation...but these comments are all about how this guy actually used magic and how amazingly awesome it was...normally i would try to find a youtube of HOW it was done but this time...im just gonna agree, that guy is a wizard
He is just too good to call out on his methods.
What gets me is even if you saw every flash of every move you’d only know WHAT he did and never HOW. The cardistry at play is so expert level and yet is only a small fraction of the overall trick because this is actual sorcery.
The only part I caught was at 2:57 you can see him load the 3 of Hearts of learning that was Alyson's card. But that is just one tiny part of the trick, and his misdirection to keep those right in front of him from noticing is incredible
