When it comes to stylish skiers, it doesn’t get much better than 'Freeride world tour' stage winner and Swiss snow demo team member Richard Amacker.
We met up with Richard in Zermatt Switzerland and asked him to give out 4 tips that would help inspire a better skiing style.

Those skis are a little short for racing. It looks like a firm carving ski to me.

I like what you suggest to all bored skiers. personally, I always believed that skiing supposed to be fun, not a rigid way of doing same movements over and over again.

Hi Richard, Very nice skiing ... watching your tricks and energy makes me feel very old ... but it does put a smile on my face.
(I'm 72 years old but I'm still improving my skiing :) )

The explosive technique is really important - it’s effectively slalom racing around invisible gates. I always do this for at least half of every run. You get so much more out of the run, and you improve your strength, which improves endurance, so you stop being limited by your physical capability, and you are just thinking about the Skiing. It also takes me back to my days racing on straight edge skis in the 80’s and 90’s! This was a great video, a really different take on a tuition video. Well done mate, loved it!
I don't know what's it's called, but I'm skiing in the classic style of my dad, who has been a skier for 70 years (and still skiing). Been skiing 35 years myself. It's a very smooth, beautiful style with the skies very close together. Looking forward to my annual ski vacation in a week!!!
One person's definition of fun, is another 1000 skiers face planting 🙃...... skiing on the inside edge while in the back seat 😬

Well you're a lot of fun thanks for the tips! I started practicing those hard Carve Drifts in June, and pretty sure that newly honing that skill saved me catching an edge and landing in the tree well. I has hanging off that tree well's edge instead! Totally agree the freestyle skills will be of much aid in the trees, moguls, etc. Send IT!

Thank you for this! I can't express how much bending your knees and driving the skis. This takes practice like you mentioned. I've been practicing those euro carve spray to fakie. At speed they are so much fun. I gotta try some of those sweed turns. Dude, you are awesome!
You're also on those head racing skis and making switch easy. When you pop 180 are you popping off your lead foot?

Biggest take away: Have fun and play, you will learn from it. Who is learning the most and fastest on the hill and in general life? Children! What do they do? Plays and have fun.

What Ski are you using? Also which length compared to your height is the best compromise also for some simple off piste rides?
When you ski explosive you can go as skating on medium steep slopes.
As a carv user I don't think Carv will give a high Ski IQ for the explosive style 😅 🤪
