The gate troll at 25:35 is a popular tactic among Gondorian troops. I'm pleased to say it worked very well until they fired the catapult through and burnt my poor taunting men :D
GondorianSmith amazing tactic I did it once and it closed on some very elite troops and they got stuck in it. The gate could not break and they had to use the ladders to get to us.

This may sound like a stupid question, but while trying to make maps I notice settlements don’t have the town center. How do you give them that town center?

Numenorians were good, but when they were called to help Middle Earth in struggle with Sauron, he saw the might of Numenor (which was enormous). Sauron knew, that he can't win with them in normal fight, so he surrendered and was taken by king to the Numenor. There he started to corrupt him and many of his men to the point, that they renouced the Valars and started worshiping Melkor (fallen Valar). Some of them escaped Numenor and later formed Arnor. King of Numenor ordered his giant armada of ships to sail to the Valinor which broke the rule - you do not sail to Valinor and set foot on it without Valar's acceptance. He did it, and Valars just let the LOTR equivalent of god - Eru, do what he has to. Eru shifed the world, turning it round (it was probably flat before). The tsunami that occured with it completly destroyed Numenor fleet and killed all of men with king. Also whole island of Numenor was sinked (like in tales of Atlantis one could say)...
But on the bright side, some survived and formed Arnor and Gondor... and in third age, there are rumors that the tip of highest mountain on Numenor can be seen arising from the oceans.

Brief Summery of the Lore of Númenor (Translation mistakes might be included as I've never read the English Version):
At the end of First Age, the Valar (kinda the gods of Arda, the world of Middle Earth), the Elves and some houses of Men fought and defeated Morgoth, the true Dark Lord. As thank for their aid, the Valar made an island for those Men that fought with them. It was, besides other names, known as Númenor(e); something like "The West-Land". The people that chose to live there, were gifted by an expanded lifetime. Also they profited from trade with the Elves. Elros, the brother of Elrond, was their first king.
As they were living on an Island, they became a naval-nation. But it was forbidden to drive too far into the west, where the Valar and many of the Elves dwell.
They sailed around all other parts of the world instead and created many harbors for the fleets; such as Lond Daer, Pelagrir and Umbar.
When Sauron, Morgoth's greates Servant, made the One Ring and the first War of the Ring started, he almost defeated the Elves and Men in Middle Earth. But then the Númenorens sent a huge force to Middle Earth and demanded Sauron's surrender.
Sauron was actually that impressed and scared by the power of Númenor, that he agreed. Also because he saw new opportunities.
He was brought as capitive to Númenor, kinda as a token of prestige of the Númenoren King, who kept him ever close.
Over time Sauron gained more and more influence over the King and wasn't capitve anymore. Instead of that he gave orders.
Also he destroyed the relationship to the Elves and Valar and made the Númenorens pray to Morgoth instead.
Few refused, known as Elven-Friends but were herassed by the Kings-Men, who were later known as Black Númenorens.
Long story short: Sauron managed it to get the Númenorens to declar war on the Valar, who called Ilúvatar (kinda the Alpha-God) for aid, who the sunk the Númenoren Fleet and the entire Island.
Only 7 ships of Elven-Friends escaped, led by Elendil and his sons.
They founded the Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor.

44:34, I think Apollo is thinking of Shadow of War because some Nazgul look like the executioners. Shadow of Mordor was mainly orcs and olag-hai and the hand of Sauron. Shadow of War delved into Nazgul and the One Ring more.

Numenor was an Island nation endowed with long life. They colonised the land where Gondor and Umbar are in Middle Earth. They were a force to be reckoned with until they got corrupt and facist. When Sauron led armies to attack the Allies of Numenor, Numenor came to the elvish defence with an army so massive that it made Sauron ‘tremble’. He showed deference to Ar Pharazon, the king of Numenor and was taken back to Numenor as a prisoner. However, Sauron whispered lies into Pharazon’s ear and turned him into a worshipper of Morgoth, leading to most of Numenor becoming corrupt and evil, with only a small number of people staying true to the elvish ways. They often clashed, with the good Numenorians being executed by Pharazon and his temple guard. When Ar Pharazon became old, Sauron made him jealous of Valinor, and convinced Pharazon to mount an expedition to attack Valinor and take control. No man can set foot in Valinor which Sauron knew, but Pharazon did not. Ar Pharazon mounted an offensive, bringing hundreds of ships with him and emptying Numenor of all loyal to him and sailing to Valinor. They landed on Valinor and set up camp, preparing to attack. The overall God Eru, saw this and unleashed an earth quake, so devestator that it destroyed Pharazon’s army, destroyed all of Numenor, and turned the Earth Round. The men loyal to the elves fled to Middle Earth, but also evil men went to Harad and Rhun, also surviving. Thousand upon thousands of citizens died in the sinking of Numenor. Up to the moment, Sauron managed to take the guise of a handsome kind elf, but after the sinking of Numenor and his subsequent destruction, he fled to Mordor where he rebuilt his body to look like what he did at the Battle of Dagor Dagrolad. The good me created the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor, while Sauron gathered the evil men and turned them into his black Numenorians, like the Temple Guard and the Mouth of Sauron. That is the lore of the Isle of Numenor. You can read more in depth in the Silmarillion in the chapter called Allkabeth or something along those lines

I love when the likes of man, elf, and dwarf are swallowed by the hordes of orcs. It's like a flash flood, just a sea of orc washing everything away. Food for the horde!

It's crazy how the level of players has increased a ton in comparison to these older battles. Like in this battle, the defenders played horribly and I'm talking about players like Synn. Of course Synn is a great veteran nowadays such a big difference in gameplay. I guess we just didn't know the difference.

I really liked this part in Shadow of war thought it was really cool since shiz like artillery strikes arrows and the actual attack can interact with each other really wish more of that concept would be in the rest of the game

I never played third age or medieval II, but i dont get why the defenders bothered with the outer walls. Why they didnt just faked that they would defend and when the orcs wasted ammo bringing down the wall and siege towers, they just retreat? And i see defenders wasting troops like that in a lot of other videos. Maybe its necessary and i dont know the game enough to realize.

What I think the defenders should have done is man the walls until you bring your siege equipment there, then immediately fall back to the second layer so you leave your ladders outside, then make their stand there. I think they would have had a good chance at winning that way.
Anyway as i was saying i really liked this.part in shadow of war the artillery strikes and dighting in the streets were just awesome

Really interested to see how the Numenorean faction is balanced compared with other factions. Numenoreans are pretty much Gondor on steroids and are equivalent to the High Noldor elves. Being overpowered is expected but possibly smaller unit sizes could work.

Might be interesting to see an alternate version of that scenario with a smallish defender cav reinforcement. Iunno if this scenario is specifically tied to a description of a historic (well tolkien historic anyway) battle tho.

Total war should make a lord of the rings game with all of the maps and factions from third age total war
Amazing battle! Maybe needed a little or a lot of balancing, though the defenders did make some mistakes. I saw a lot of archers fighting in melee with a bunch of ammo, but an awesome settlement and scenario

Wow with how badly the defenders defended the first wall they may as well not have defended it at all....what's even the point of defending the gate if you allow the enemy take the walls and cut of your retreat path?
we werent trying too hard to win, i was very tired that day from all the modding and packing for moving country.... xD and it was more a battle to showcase the map and factions, we didnt even test it lol, well be sure to do a proper battle with proper tactics in the next replay!
