57 years of age. mountain biking all my life (31 years plus). afib since 2018. ablation in 2021. 3 years back to normal life including 8,000 km of mtb average/year. back with afib last month. doc said i need to slow down. said that is crazy to keep 120 bpm average for 2/3 hours - 4x a week. in hard training, steep uphills heart reaches 160 bpm. doc said this is too much in my age. hard to slow down but im reading a lot about afib in senior endurance sports and this is really a concern.

It depends, I have vagal afib which I developed after taking minoxidil/fenasteride for hairloss for 3 years and all my episodes happen right when I'm about to wake up in the morning.
I have no issues works out hard, drinking coffee or alcohol.
I have no afib now after quitting my hairloss routine.

That is good to know! My daughter was taking a pre-work out which was causing afib. When she stop the pre-work powder, she got better.

Did the hairloss product give a list of side affects?

@@EricPadro so you’re not the one with afib but your daughter? Yes it does, elevate heart rate and palpitations, no where it mentioned of afib.

@@Theauthenticmindset I had AFib first then shortly after she got diagnosed 7 months later. Since she stop taking the prework, afib went away. However, I needed medicines, surgery, and lifestyle adjustments.

This is not advice for everyone with AFIB.
    Talk to your cardiologist.

Agreed. Not what my dr told me. He said do whatever you can. Rest when needed.
Who his this guy? Is he a cardiologist? Or just someone that got afib?
