Arturia designed the oscillators to start to distort when turned up past the half way mark. So if anyone finds the "raw" sound and "crunch" a bit much can take that into account. Divuar LaCroix - very true, no midi cc send/receive. It’s one of the reasons I kept the Monologue and sold the Microbrute. I generally don’t like selling things but have not missed the Microbrute.
@@leftmono1016 Hehe, right now I'm thinking about replacing Microbrute with Minilogue (I found some cheap used ones). I used to hae a Korg Microkorg and I didn't like it's UI much. It seems Minilogue is much more convenient. Probably Monologue is a good option too. Is it more flexible than Microbrute on your opinion?
@@Divuar - I think the Monologue is more flexible yes. Two oscillators, velocity to filter, presets, midi CC and motion sequencing. I love motion sequencing, you can do cool stuff like set up a motion sequence controlling filter, resonance, oscillator shape or whatever and then remove the notes themselves. As long as the sequence is still running it'll apply the motion movements to any new notes you play. Then set the sequence length to say 15 or 13 steps and you've got constantly evolving parameter movements. The little patchbay on the Microbrute is useful for connecting it up to modular stuff (or an SQ1 for example) but I still prefer Korg's motion sequencing for adding variation. I might be wrong but I think the new Minilogue has CV inputs so has the best of both worlds. That looks like a monster synth!
Microkorg is very different from this one, so choose wisely! I don't like Microkorg (used to have it few years ago) for how sound design flow is made there, but it's perfect for live performances and actually playing. Designing a tone there is a headache. On the other hand it is polyphonic so you can probably do much more with it than with Arturia Microbrute. Personally I got bored of Microbrute after a year of using and now thinking about selling it to get Korg Minilogue. Please, feel free to ask me any questions on both devices.
How do you start to learn to play a synth? Do you learn by learning to play piano first? I'm trying to understand how to play but have no idea where to start. :)
Dive straight in buddy and get down to kicking goals mate it's best explained that what we learn all differently start with what one interests you. For me I'm really digging to get hands on the arq 96 by zoom
I have the red microbrute but the gold version you have looks so dope I'm so tempted to buy THAT one lmao but.... the gold monoluge also looks so sick... SO MANY CHOICES 😂
It's really a tremendous little package. When had a bit of an analog monosynth craze a few years ago and these were the cream of the crop IMHO. You can do so much with these brutes. The Micro's osc section is one of the few I still enjoy tweaking and actively gives me ideas. I sub/5th harmonic is my favorite...well a tie with the metalizer/triangle (the whole wave folding/fm-ish result is awesome). For a hardwired unit you get a lot of choice via the patch bay. For example use the EG to free up the ASDR, which you can then use almost anywhere (route to ach osc, filter and osc pitch). It has lot of little tricks. But I do agree with whoever mentioned pedals....you can get a power brick and a bunch of cheap strange oddities, had some really good results in mad scientist mode. But seriously if you do that get a few used reliably good ones, I use a Small Clone on everything and Memory Boy....plus some strange Chinese thing called Ghost Rain.
It must have at least a MIDI in for you to use it as a controller. If you've never saw it, search the plug in google images. EDIT: Sorry Tom!! Just realise you can also use it as a controlller via USB! It's called midi-usb.
you don't need an interface just to use it as a controller, you need an interface to get sound from the synth to the computer. To use it as a regular MIDI keyboard for vsts just plug in the USB B cable to the computer!
Everything sounds like a video game. Is that just because that's the sound of this synth? Is it not really possible to get a thick, fat, dark and growly sound out of this instead of bright and toy-like? Thanks for the video.

Hi. I'm thinking of getting this & drumbrute or microkorg? Whats ur opinion? Thanks
I've got a orange microbrute, and I love it! nice demo and interesting channel, cheers from Italy Ciao
That’s it- I’m getting one!
I have the red microbrute but the gold version you have looks so dope I'm so tempted to buy THAT one lmao but.... the gold monoluge also looks so sick... SO MANY CHOICES 😂
Can the sequencer control a modular synth ?
Can you like use this on the go... like with batteries or something lol
(was looking for some kind of on the go synth)
Not this one, but the Korg monologue and many old cheap casios are battery powered!
@@JAdeWii_ Okay, thank you. :3
4:10 fealt like she was about to start playing pulling teeth
Your videos are the best thank you so much 👽💛👽
Thanks for watching :)
Great video,thanks
Does the Creation Edition come with the cables?
GRAND SUBURBIA yesss
Hi Jade I was wondering if you can use it to control iOS synths too. Ya know like a regular midi keyboard.
you can via MIDI (Need a MIDI interface)
Ok thanks.
I have an M-Audio interface actually,. That 2x2 one with the big knob. Will that work? Or does it have to have a midi in or out on the back?
It must have at least a MIDI in for you to use it as a controller. If you've never saw it, search the plug in google images.
EDIT: Sorry Tom!! Just realise you can also use it as a controlller via USB! It's called midi-usb.
you don't need an interface just to use it as a controller, you need an interface to get sound from the synth to the computer. To use it as a regular MIDI keyboard for vsts just plug in the USB B cable to the computer!
2020s....meet the 1970s!
omg that FM Panda with the algorithms
the Arale hat!
Everything sounds like a video game. Is that just because that's the sound of this synth? Is it not really possible to get a thick, fat, dark and growly sound out of this instead of bright and toy-like? Thanks for the video.
Well you wont get a moog sound out of it, every synth has it's character
Gotcha. Are there any beginner synths for under 1G that sounds big, fat and chunky? Lol. I love your vids by the way. You've got me wanting to ditch my logic setup.
@@Bavubuka There's lots of great synths in that price range, check out my "best synths for beginners video" also the new Moog Grandmother looks and sounds great!
In 2022 we should have 1028 voice polyfonic synths with endless tracks, engines and memories. But the instead we go back to monophonic synths with no memories. I understand their charm, but with modern technology those sounds are easily included in a modern workstation.
Reminds me of music from the old NES games
Microbrute or Monologue?
How do I get this to loop?
sequence it or make sample with it
