    I just got the Renegade Trailhawk and i love it. Some of my friends make fun of me and call it the renegay but they need big trucks to feel like a man. Its fun as hell to drive and is loaded with features. The standard Infotainment and speakers sound great. Standard backup camera. I ripped it through some dirt roads and it was a blast. Look forward to taking it on some trails. When you put it in manual mode its fun to pass people on the highway when you find the motors happy spot. Dont pay sticker price i got mine for 26k with cold weather package.

      if they still say "renegay" or tag gay on things to make fun I wouldn't ever listen to them. looks like a great car.

    It's an entry level vehicle for Jeep, I'm not sure what people want. It's obviosly not going to be a hardcore off roader, that's what the wrangler is for. Wrangler is also the only "real Jeep" seeing as it still has the body on frame design while everything else has unibody. As long as Jeep makes their vehicles off road capable and keeps the wrangler around then who cares? If Jeep made an actual car like a Fiesta or Sonic then I would understand some of the hate. But they didn't, they made an economical off roader so they can stay relevant and in business.

      I don't care what you say the 2005 jeep liberty is a real jeep I have put one of them through more than anyone would normally attempt before I switched vehicles I had that liberty in a 4 foot deep pond that was man made for nothing but orv play and never got stuck or had an issue and it's one of the uni body's that you say I'd not a jeep

    This video was great to watch. When Nathan is doing something he enjoys - in this case, driving off-road - with a car he likes, then he projects that enjoyment to the viewer and we vicariously experience his enjoyment. It's a very rare gift in a presenter, and Nathan's got it !!!!

    I really don't understand why so many people don't like this car I mean it's pretty much a baby wrangler and for all of you thinking 30k is alot the Chevy trax awd is also 30k and I'd rather drive this with a more powerful engine and the extra 3 gears I could see this being a good car

    • @TheoldSouth

    • @TheoldSouth
      @TheoldSouth 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ScottaHemi it is a fiat panda with some shitty limited slip. It is by no means a rugged suv. It's ugly, underpowered, heavy, lacking in capability, it has as much articulation as a golf cart, and it wouldn't make up the drive way at my mountain house. There is also going to be little to no aftermarket support for it which is what makes a Jeep a jeep.

  • @Dcc357
    @Dcc357 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yeah try doing any of this with a Toyota Rav 4 or even a Subaru Forester that costs $5000 more. I say this is a great value and is a contender that the other brands who compete in the small crossover segment should greatly fear, especially considering this is a global car.

      I know I'm replying to an old comment, but the Jeep Renegade in Trailhawk trim probably does 115% what a Subaru XV Crosstrek (the Jeep's direct Subaru competitor) can do off-road. Heck, before the Jeep Renegade was released, the Subaru XV Crosstrek was best-in-class in off-road capability within the subcompact crossover category. Though both the Subaru and Jeep (in Trailhawk trim) share the same ground clearance at 8.7 inches, the same can't be said for their approach, departure, and breakover angles.

    I'm convinced Jeep owners are the worst people to try and sell anything to. You have a video here of this car doing extremely well and yet the comments section is full of people saying it's overpriced (even though its almost 20k less than a rubi) and that it isn't a Jeep. You people are a mess. 30k is pretty much the average price of anything that isn't a base model civic these days. Get over it.

      If you buy used, you can get great deals. In my area there are 4 used trailhawks with 11k-30k miles on them for $15k-$21k. It is funny that people in my area buy fully off-road kitted out versions of vehicles in South Florida where you have to drive 400+ miles to get to trails that even mildly test the limits of the vehicle. At least with the rubicon you can drive that distance on a take or two of fuel instead of 3 or more pit stops.
      Lots of rubicons and other offroad specific vehicles for sale here with low milage but most are not as cheap as the renegade trailhawk.
      I honestly don't trust the jeep dealerships in my area which is why I do not currently plan to buy one... I guess I could take it to my local honda dealer for maintenance... don't know. Either way I plan to put another 200k miles on my current car before upgrading.

    The only people I have seen criticizing this car haven't driven one. Nobody cares what you think about a vehicle you haven't spent one moment behind the wheel of. Let's hear about how awesome you think the Ferrari 458 is or how much faster the new Ford GT Will be than the z06 because I'm sure you have driven both even the one that hasn't been released yet. It looks fun and more capable than anyone complaining about it would ever know because they don't have the off roading skill to max this out much less a "real jeep".

    Thought about buying one. Engines are different here. Jeep sells it with a 2.0L Multiair diesel or 1.8L Etorq Evo Totalflex which works either with gasoline or alcohol. Read somewhere the basis for the 1.8L was the old Tritec. Price is pretty much the same here.

    I test drove one of these yesterday (along with a cherokee) the renegade was a trailhawk and the cherokee was not but the cherokee had the 6cyl. The renegade had decent power, but definitely like the more power of the cherokee. The renegade seemed like it was mostly plastic inside. I just had an escape se 2.0 turbo as a rental for 2 weeks. The escape had great power, and the materials almost all felt nicer. I do like how the renegade exterior looks, though. Also, I had a 2007 commander and the windshield and hood looks very similar from the driver's seat which I liked. I think when I am in the market I'd rather have something a little bigger (fat american here) tbh.

    The 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk SUV has a recurring
    power seat problem that prevents the use of the 8-way and lumbar functions. The
    problem causes the driver seat to freeze and lock into a position on the seat
    floor tracks. This could create a serious
    problem in the event of an emergency. The dealer service department is
    clueless on fixing the problem.

    i own the 2015 Jeep renegade latitude edition. honestly its a pretty good car. great for everyday driving, its smooth when driving on the street, i can put my amplifiers in the car unlike the wrangler, and it has the ability to go on rugged roads. also the other thing its small enough to get around downtown but big enough to put 4 adults in.

  • @majesticpaint161
    @majesticpaint161 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    he stated 1.4 turbo in the video about would work but that is needed more torque however 1.4 has more torque and comes in @ 2500rpms which correct me if is close to half the rpms the 2.4 needs to achieve 170lbs of torque So 1.4 turbo with its 6 speed could possibly do better than the automatic. That's why we bought the latitude 4x4 and will be putting the trailhawk springs plus quadrstar 1.5 lift blocks lifting the latitude 2.5" and with a little larger tires we'll be set to play

    • @majesticpaint161
      @majesticpaint161 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I own this revvy renegade. But it's not revvy it produces more power per cubic inch than any previous Jeep motor. 187lb @ 2500 rpm you don't have to Rev it. Do some math and you will see it has plenty of power and weighs less than any old Cherokee. So it's power to weight ratio is better

    I here sooooo many reviews on the Trail Hawk. Where is the review of the 4x4 1.4L turbo with a 6 speed manual??? How is the drivability, control, capabilities? Sure I know it's not Trail rated but for those not needing the little rock crawler version and looking to get the urban 4x4 use. I live in Michigan and travel 80 miles one way to work on I-94 dealing with rain, snow, ice, wind sheer, bumps & dodging pot holes. If the gas mileage for the manual will be better than the automatic. Then I'll take the Latitude and add a full spare. I did a build your own jeep and it gives you a tire kit. (No thanks) if you hit a bolt or damage the tire totally you done.

    Wait a minute... unlike other Trailhawk trim levels which come standard with all-terrain tires on other models, the Renegade only gets regular truck highway tires?!??
    Also, the Renegade is definitely the most capable subcompact compact crossover. My XV Crosstrek was the best-in-class until the Renegade showed up.
    Both the Renegade and XV Crosstrek have best-in-class ground clearance, but it is clear the angles, especially the approach angle, of the Renegade are far superior.
    2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek off road specs
    Approach: 18 degrees
    Departure: 28 degrees
    Breakover: 21 degrees
    Ground Clearance: 8.7 inches
    2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk off road specs
    Approach: 30 degrees
    Departure: 34.3 degrees
    Breakover: 25.7 degrees
    Ground Clearance: 8.7 inches
    How are the stock skid plates, if there are any?

    FCA decide to produce it in Brasil.. And the figure out that, here, Trailhawk should cost U$50k. (absurd but following the market). At Least they put a 2.0 diesel with 170hp and 35kgfm in this version.

    What do you get when you combine one of America's most unreliable car brands (Jeep) and sell it to one of Europe's most unreliable car brands (Fiat)? Apparently, a toy company.
    Subaru XV Crosstrek has AWD, same ground clearance, much better gas mileage, less controversial styling, all for $20k. Plus, being a Subaru and not a horrendously disfigured Italian mutant Jeep, it'll last twice as long and hold it's twice the resale value.

    The basic problems are: A. not as strong as a Wrangler; B. it does not have the Rubicon suspension; C. It is a compact car, not a convertible open car with the Wrangler panache. You only live once. Who wants a compact 4x4 sedan that needs a guide to walk you through modest bumps? Fuel MPG is not that important.

    Nathan, nice video. Why do you sound like out of breath, if you're in California? By the dimensions and capabilities, I would compare this baby Jeep with a Renault Duster. I find this one nicer but twice in price. I like the better engine options, the good interior, and the transmission. But the real test would be if it can really do anything else that the 4x4 Duster can't.

    • @Nogard119

      0% of American vehicles are made completely in the USA. Hundreds of models are assembled in the US however.
      Top 3 vehicles made in the US: F-150, Camry and Tundra all of which have 70% of their components manufactured in the US. With that said, the US is still one of the largest car manufactures in the world. If not the largest depending on your metric.

    Base model Grand Cherokee price for Renegade?? I'm not sure... I bet Renegade Tail-hawk can handle offroad little better, but to be honest, then why not go buy a wrangler??
    I think Renegade only works up to Latitude 4X4 trim, beyond that... no point of buying this car, as Jeep mentioned they are thinking of making a cheaper car because Renegade might be too expansive for some market, and even as a entry vehicle in USA because it has size of KIA soul and other than its 4x4 drive system, it is a box car

    For the price difference between the sport and trailhawk buy the sport put on a 4in lift skid plated brush guard even taller tires and go places a trailhawk or stock wrangler wouldn’t dream of any still save 5k over the trailhawk after adding all the mods for the money trailhawk can’t compete with a sport model

    So a Fully loaded Trailhawk 30k

  • @roberthicks686
    @roberthicks686 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have mixed feelings about the price. At over 30k for the loaded TH it's definitely priced me out of being a early adopter. At 27k I would have been pushed to move back to Jeep but 30k is over that threshold. Sure it might outclass everything else but it's still too much for me to part with. Reading some of the comments, I'm not alone.

      m1a2onutube With Jeeps though....the rebates are usually $500 at launch(Maybe) and another $500Military/School discount. Some also exclude Trailhawk models too

    • @RJsMashups
      @RJsMashups 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Kelly So a $500 rebate, and any dealership worth their salt can be talked down at least another thousand, maybe even $2K if they're in a good mood or you have a decent trade-in.

    • @roberthicks686
      @roberthicks686 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      m1a2onutube The problem is that this is a new model and I bet it's going to be a hot sell so chances are the dealers aren't going to be budging on any sticker prices. At least not for the first year of production and maybe that's okay. It will give time to see recalls and any other production issues that a first year model might have. I'm not saying it will but you never know. I do know my 2002 Lancer was a first year model in the US and it was rock solid until I traded it in 2013. Not one problem but then again you're talking Mitsubishi quality.
