Ok… The pickup I loved/hated (it was an ecodiesel, IYKYK) broke down & burned out last week. I’m shopping around, and maybe a 7.3 excursion is in my near future… If so, you’re going to be my new hero. 😆
Sorry. I had a Backiodamy last year, and that slowed me down for many months. Only a little bit more work left before we have our first Big Adventure in July.
I might have to steal this layout for my Excursion, mostly because the area for long narrow protection devices and because it’s a great design. But also the long narrow protection device’s.
Glad I’m not the only one to trade in a land cruiser for the EX…had to sell the 80 and the 100 to get a car big enough for 4 kids, 2 parental units, a dog and my cooler! I’m jealous of the Carli system! I’m wanting to coil spring my front end with quality parts and I’m not overly impressed with the options out there.
I’m sure it can be done, but the bumper would have to sit out really far for the arms to not interfere with the frame rails. Or you could make it really wide I guess 🤷🏻♂️
I was getting tempted to sell my Excursion V10 because of gas prices these days until I saw this build and got inspired. Thanks for the great video and inspiration!
Dam you got nicer wood working tools than mechanical tools, I'm jealous 😂 nice build this Excursion has come along ways since the start of the build almost 2 yrs ago, and the Jackery units are freaking awesome my buddy and his wife bought 2 of them, you got the nicest Excursion in the country 👍
Thank you. I didn't intend for this thing to stretch out so long... didn't intend to have a spinal fusion surgery last year either. 🤣 Pretty pumped to hit wheel so awesome places this summer.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo yeah looking forward to that. Mine was a 6 litre. I did one of my annual road trips from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to Albuquerque which culminated in my basically non-stop run from Denver back, which took 42 hours. Never missed a beat, although it didn’t like going over 85 mph. I could get 1500kms on a tank too. Somebody in town has it now, I’ve got a Yukon Denali XL which I really like too, but it always causes the ol’ heart to skip a bit when I see it.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I met him at Sick Week Day 3. His Excursion was instantly recognizable, especially since I drive one as well. Have been enjoying its build videos this weekend. You guys work well together.
U ever watch 24/7 4x4 channel out of Australia. They have a tray for domestics that when u pull it out u push a latch and ur domestic drops like 10 inches.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo yes that has crossed my mind, mine has 0 rust on it as it came from Arizona, when I bought it I couldn’t believe how clean it was, in Missouri everything that is this age is typically a rust bucket. So it would be a good candidate for a swap.
It’s just for extra storage. I keep things that I don’t want in the cab or that I want to access quickly in there. Extra fluid for the truck, toilet, etc…
What’s in the video is pretty much the extent of the design specs. It’s pretty much Build to whatever size you’d like. I don’t know if I still have any of the drawings.
Where can i get a rear bumper tire mounting system for my Excursion like yors? (Minus the smoker. I'm in California so we're trying to save the planet😏).

the Coil Spring swap is so worth it when you consider ride quality and turning radius.
I love Landcruisers, but sometimes you just need more room. Coil swap with factory parts is still a huge improvement.

I really really liked what you did with the spare tire area. I k ow you did a lot of other work but I really liked that mod.
Glad you dig it
Long term: if you build a bumper with the swing outs below the barn doors, you can fully open them. I plan on building my own for that reason
I’m sure it can be done, but the bumper would have to sit out really far for the arms to not interfere with the frame rails. Or you could make it really wide I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Might affect your clearance for offroad
