      Forrest's Auto Reviews what are your thoughts when comparing to the Mazda 3? I think the styling of this vehicle is great but I would prefer more rear seat space. Also the price for the loaded one is a little crazy. You can get an EX-L crv for that and still keep some money.

    • @forrestsautoreviewsofficial
      @forrestsautoreviewsofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Natalie & Werner It depends on your wants. This is going to offer a more luxurious feel fully loaded vs the CR-V. The Honda is definitely a high quality car but it doesn’t feel very “styled” compared to the Mazda. The Mazda also has a quieter cabin, better handling characteristics (drove this 4 hours throughout this video without getting tired or uncomfortable), and certain tech features like a head up display for example. There never a perfect car, just the perfect one for YOU! Analyze your specific needs, test drive everything your interested in and go with whatever makes you happy!

    Great ground clearance! Love how the car is designed without letting any little detail untouched. My biggest complaint in the current-gen CRV (my mom's car) is the comfort and finish. Of course, the CRV itself is very efficient, cheap to maintain, and gets great resale value. But, since Mazda is very close or even better than Honda in terms of reliability, has the comfort and the finish that the Honda lacks, I guess this or the CX5 can be the next car in a few years!

    I think these Mazdas are some of the best looking SUVs around. I'm a fan of the plastic wheel arc trim as long as its 'tastefully' done. I live in the rust belt and it really cuts down on stone chips that quickly turn into rust. I definitely don't like when it consumes the bottom 25% of the vehicle. On this vehicle it looks like it consumes about 50% of the front fenders and it's not a good look. I like the plastic on my 2014 CX-5.

    • @michaels999

      Mike R just get the Mazda3 hatchback with AWD and some winter tires. No need for the CX-30. I live north of the boarder in snow. I drive a 2015 Mazda3 hatchback and I have snow tires, and I have no issues driving around in the snow.

      T R The review from Savage Geese also said there is more trunk space in the CX-30 versus the 3, which is good if you need that.

    The CX-30 is truly an amazing CUV. I've had the Premium now for over 4 months and love it. I downsized from a 2017 CX-9 Signature and I have to tell you, other than the space and comfort, I don't miss the CX-9. The level of detail, near-luxury, quality, solid build and technology are inspiring. Quiet cabin and looks to go, the CX-30 is one of, if not the best, value in the CUV market.

    • @karkule5919
      @karkule5919 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting that you don't see a big drop in quality from owning a CX9. If I can get over the ridiculously thick wheel cladding that really cheapens the look, I may get one.

    • @anthonyproenza204
      @anthonyproenza204 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karkule5919 I get that it sounds skeptical, but there is an actual a step-up in luxury and ergonomics as well as the electronics. Now that I've driven it for about 5 months, I can tell you that they skimped on the radar cruise control. The CX-9 has a longer range and not as bad on hard breaking. Otherwise, awesome! This will be the platform that all future Mazdas will be based on. I have spoken to people that have gone from Mercedes, Lexus, Acura and Infinity to either a CX-30 or CX-5. The CX-9 is a cushier ride.

    • @anthonyproenza204
      @anthonyproenza204 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karkule5919 Sure. The young lady I spoke to last, had a Lexus NX and said basically, "bang for the buck" without missing the luxury. Mercedes customer came from a GLA, she claimed cost of maintenance purchased ahead of time and cramped quarters plus the money she spent ticking 2 boxes that gave her what CX-30 gave her for $30k, her GLA configured was $42. I cannot remember what the Acura customer has said, but the Infinity customer said features for the money and sophisticated, clean interior coming from a QX30, I believe now discontinued. Also, he said, less cramped inside with better infotainment. That's all I have. Hope that it helps. I've had lux cars as well. Not worth it. This is my 3rd Mazda, and although I would only buy or lease top trim, I don't miss much from the lux brands. The interior of the CX-30 rivals a BMW. Go look and sit inside latest BMW 3 and compare.

      @seanbeebe8095 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peter Jordan The cladding gives a visual effect that makes the cx-30 so sleek. Bit of a compromise, but it protects the fenders as well. Ever part has a purpose and over all is pretty sic looking. Just bought one and you can see the thought that went into it. Perfect with the budget they had.

    • @anthonyproenza204
      @anthonyproenza204 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Turbo is on the way. 1 out of 2. The cladding prevents the car from looking frumpy. Otherwise, the amount of sheet metal exposed would make it ugly.

    Why did they take off the warm steering wheel I love it on my CS3? Will they put it back next year? And there are knobs with no function on the dash. . Why isn't the passenger seat as easy to manipulate with power? Why doesn't the truck automatically open and close? And why doesn't AWD come with it in the prize It did in the CX3? How could there be more room if you say it is 4 inches shorter? Thanks in advance to respond. Diana

    A very good looking vehicle, especially in profile, a result of the relatively long distance from the front bumper to the A pillar. It's a design trick used by sports car designers for about a hundred years to suggest potency and performance. Mazda uses it in several of their vehicles including all of their crossovers. Add the protruding grill and the appeal to males is especially pronounced. The downside, however, is cramped interior space compared to other designs. The CX-30 is among the longest of the vehicles in its class yet offers less overall cargo and passenger space than its competitors.
    As for other features the six speed transmission is a negative but at least it isn't a CVT. As the smallest independent mainstream manufacturer on the planet Mazda has to approach its investments especially wisely. The newer transmissions from other manufacturers are expensive to develop (or to purchase from third parties) and Mazda has decided to emphasize budget priced luxury rather than performance in their line-up. Those who hope the CX-30 will get a turbo are likely to be disappointed as that would undoubtedly cannibalize sales of the CX-5. Further, those hoping for a manual transmission option are unlikely to have their hopes fulfilled. Mazda doesn't have the resources to waste on money losing vehicles.
    The dial controlled infotainment screen is a cost cutting measure rationalized as a safety feature. It enables Mazda to install a smaller, less "intelligent" screen than competitors and as a bonus eliminate fingerprints on the screen. It's adequate and drivers will learn to manipulate it but millennia of evolution makes the human brain link touch and sight in a hard-wired, highly efficient system. Putting the hand action low on the center stack coupled with tracking a selection at the top of the dash is inherently less efficient and more error prone.
    All in all, I suspect the CX-30 will do well for Mazda and may take a significant number of sales away from the Mazda3 hatchback. Mazda won't mind as the profit margin for the CX-30 is undoubtedly greater than that of the Mazda3 hatchback. But consumers looking for "utility" in a Sport UTILITY vehicle will likely opt for another brand.

    Does it have an independent rear suspension? Mazda de-contented the Mazda 3 by taking that out.

      Except that they improved the handling regardless.

    Did Mazda stop making CX-3, I didn't see a 2020 version

    So tired of this power train already. They need more gears in that transmission ASAP

      Why is that? Are you encountering a situation in your day to day where you need more gears?
      Any more than 6 gears is 95% a marketing thing in my opinion.

      She put the lime in the coconut more power, better fuel economy. It’s that simple

      kermit1 can you explain that to me? Is the mechanical advantage and numerical value of the lowest and highest gears any different? Did ford and Chevy gain significant fuel economy when they went from 6 speeds to 10 speeds in their trucks? Did their quarter mile times improve? What about FCA when they went to 8 speed? I don’t think so.
      One could argue that there may be a minor variation in drivability and vehicle dynamics, but NOTHING like when the industry went from 3 and 4 speed to 5 and 6 speed.
      The only thing mazda is guilty of is not falling into the marketing games of keeping up with the neighbors. But it’s a smart move on their part. Tooling is likely paid off. Reliability is generally solid with this transmission. Why change?

      Gaurav Koirala I think it’s all the plastic around the wheels arches. Replace that with an all painted area and this will be a car that will age extremely well.
