I was just given a 1981 LTD Crown Victoria 2Dr with 71,000 miles, only rust on it is the back bumper which needs to be replaced. Otherwise it looks like it came new from the showroom. An 84 year old friend had to go into a nursing home.
I plan to, It was given to me by a 84 year old friend who couldn't drive it anymore. Someone offered him $500 for it. Come on, we know it's worth more than that. We have a Classic car club around here that I'm getting in contact with.
@@KevHes Some complete jokers about, what kind of douche tries to take advantage of an old person by offering them $500 for a car that's worth about $5000-$7000
The mud washes right off. I drive my new RAV4 on dirt roads when hiking and camping, which I do a lot of. I never thought anything of it. The salt is what damages cars, especially older ones.
Definitely worth the money.. It amazes me how stupid some people are, to junk a car because you think the transmission is out but you don't check the fluid.
Nothing beats the looks and presence of these old Fords. They are classics now. not many left demo derbies killed lots. hope you fix this one. not many get a second chance and very few make it out of the scrap yard alive. good for you!
As you probably already know, that is a 1991 crown vic. By August of 90 they had already switched over to 91 model production. The 91's had the clear turn signal lights in the front, 90's had amber. I'll bet those plastic odometer and trip odometer gears in the cluster are all broken, easy fix!
It's been two years since you posted this video. I hope you saved it. I own one of these cars and love it. Spend some time and clean it up, put the original finned hubcaps on it and it will look good. I still get compliments on mine all the time. Mine is close to the same color paint and interior.
Shit, you should save this car, these cars aren't being made anymore, much less in this body style, all she needs is a new set of motors/switches for the windows, repairs on the A/C, new tires, and a new coat of paint, and she'll look like she just rolled outta the factory.
I had one...a 90 as well...same motor as yours.. great car. Sold it to a taxi company and they logged over a million kilometers on it! keep her going they definitely don't make the full framers anymore!
Best car ever made. I miss the panther platform. First car was a 85 Ford ltd crown Victoria when I got my license in 92. It had 54,000 miles on it it was powder blue with the navy blue landau top dark blue the law interior one owner car it was a gorgeous car I loved it
This is another I liked when new, in 1988 when first redesigned I liked then as the previous years. I still have a brochure of Fords line up for 1988 & brochiters of different model year Town Cars & Cadillac's.
hay jay,how ya doing, good as far as i can see.as for the car i say hell yah, !!!! the car looks good and you know you can make it look real sharp when you put your know how to it brother.so i say yes and buy it.keep up the videos.thanks.mike elcamino
Save it! The large box bodies look way better than any of the rounded nonsense you see on the roads today. IMO no car made after 1991 looks good. Except maybe 94-96 Chevy Impala SS’s.
Hey do you still have this car? If you do I am looking for tail lights assembles left and right. And also the belt to close the door inside the door handle. Lastly, do you still have a gates cluster? Do you still have it? If you do have much does it cost?
When you replace or repair the power steering pump, use Type F fluid. Don't bother blacking out trim or bumpers: get it totally functional, that's all. I'd be happy to buy it... but I'm too far away. It doesn't need dual exhaust: stock is fine. Mostly, it needs cleaning... and a pair of mudflaps behind the front tires.
As long as you have room never shred a vehicle for scrap . The frame alone on that is worth around 400 . They use them for Derby cars where a full frame is required .
Watch the TV cable bushing for the trans that's what messes up the AOD lots of times Ford screwed up on the bushings I recommend buying an aftermarket brass one
it went out on day two of ownership. luckily I was a mile from my house got it home. changed it out the next morning. and its been driving fine since then. I think it's okay
just wondering where you are located and what you did ... ... I'd love to have something like that around as a play toy ... cheap & easy to fix & keep .... I used to race oval track stockers and scap some too and would come across that kind of stuff ... relocated to Florida and COMPLETELY OUT of the loop down here ... I'd say IF .. it were me .. as long as it ran half decent, the trans. work as it should ... I'd fix the windows so they worked ... depending where you are IF the heater works reasonable (here in Florida I'd REALLY Want to fix the A/C) keep it , run it and at the end of the season sell it for so kids first car or Enduro Race it or Demo Derby it ooooor .... keep it around as a spare and a Winter Beater for Next year
Does the title say 1990? Could it be a 91? I have owned a few cars that were built in August, but considered the next model year. Especially since the new 92's probably came out early.
If you watch my later videos you will see that it was in a small accident and the front clip is tweaked. But before that I had new tires put on the front. Center caps. Beauty bands. And has the car buffed cut and waxed
Why did Ford ever stop making the Crown Victorias. It went from the Fairlanes to the Galaxies to the LTD,s to the Crown Victorias. And then for some reason Ford decided to stop production of one of the most popular cars they ever made ending a line of succession of full-size sedans and coups that transcended about 60 years.
Ya back 15 years ago. My cousin got one pretty much mint. All he did. Put it in the demo races. He my as well get it crush. He completely junked it. Ya it was shame. I said why just buy a rough shape one. He said they are a ugly piece of shit. Plus they old garage. I said back in 2005. So what so good about new cars. All basically plastic. I was fan for LTD/Crown Victoria. I used to owned a 1981 Ford Coupe LTD Crown Victoria.
Absolutely save!! These were built to take a beating. It's definitely worth it. The edit: Didn't realize how old this video was. Hope you saved her!
Nice car. Last of the true American full size cars! Enjoy driving this Jay.

@@wetlettuce4768 definitely worth more than $500 but I wouldn't say 5-7k. 2 grand at most.
Those cars are great if you live out in rural areas. Who wants to drive a new Toyota on muddy dirt roads. Also people don't judge you in traffic.
The mud washes right off. I drive my new RAV4 on dirt roads when hiking and camping, which I do a lot of. I never thought anything of it. The salt is what damages cars, especially older ones.

We bought it, then some kid hit me in it. Now we are working on bringing her back up again. One piece at a time!
What an absolute treat. After I finish rebuilding my truck, it’s a 1989-1991 crown vic
please tell me you saved her from the crusher
As you probably already know, that is a 1991 crown vic. By August of 90 they had already switched over to 91 model production.

front corner lamps had been changed. odometer works, and so does the trip!
SAVE IT. Those old Crown Vics are hard to find, and I was lucky to have a 1989 LX.

I still have it to this day!
@@MXguy95 the panther platform lives on!😅

Love these old full-size Fords. But if you're looking for cars to save, I'd say wait for the next old Town Car that needs you.
Any cars sold there have a salvage title, right? If so, how hard is it to get a regular one?
justsomeguytoyou no. unless the car previously had a salvage title nothing changes. so if it arrives with a clean title, it leaves with a clean title
Thanks
Panther platforms are always worth saving....they are indestructible.
I'm fixing up a 94 crown vic should be on the road soon I'm still a month and a half away from being 17 but can't wait to drive it nice first car lol
Green explorer to the left at the start, year miles and what's wrong with it?
late 90s early 2000s. complete but has a blown motor.
Prob a 97 SOHC then, ah well.
Its a nice car and u can fixit easly.

I've owned a few Crown Vic's and currently looking for another, good all around vehicles.

What state our you in?
Those old Crown Victorias from the late 80's/early 90's were tanks on 4 wheels lol
Like the blue explorer tho in the back
I'd take it, Like you say you can always resell it. I am seeing fewer of those around.
I only see about a handful of these on a monthly basis. They all just rusted away into the 90s without leaving a trace.
Save it! The large box bodies look way better than any of the rounded nonsense you see on the roads today. IMO no car made after 1991 looks good. Except maybe 94-96 Chevy Impala SS’s.
