This warms my heart. I miss my old Town Car SO much. Nothing like them for comfort on a long road trip. The ultimate touring sedan! Thanks so much for rescuing this one!
Great save. This Lincoln did deserve the second chance that you gave it. After all its a classic now. once they roll thru the gates of the junkyard most never hit the road again. I'm very happy to see the solid Lincoln go thru these stages. Great job.
Jay Smart you did the right thing man. I own a 2007 Grand Marquis. Would love to try to find a Lincoln from the 80s someday. Would love a shiney black or silver one.
Timothy Wells this ABSOLUTELY breaks my heart you would junk her 😔 I have a 1985 Lincoln i turned into a BEAUTIFUL car and the body when i bought it was half the shape of this 😔😔😔
I commend you for saving this. It's astounding what some people throw away. People forget that dirt washes off and parts can be replaced, but once they're gone, they're gone forever. I have nine of these cars, and working on #10. I love them all. One of them I pulled out of a salvage yard as well.
I'm glad you rescued this Lincoln Town Car, I've always liked these as much as the Cadillac. If I could've afforded one new I would've bought one same with a Cadillac. I now have for 4 years a 2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature which love it. Now onto watching your video.
So little love for the big comfy boats, man. I just don't get it. Why would they even dump it off there...augh. Damn clock even works?? Lol, pure insanity. People have no respect for these gentle giants, I tell you.
Even in their old age these cars are still awesome highway machines. Made for the open road and friends. These cars are super plush and that old 302 will never let you down when cared for !
when i lived in Conway, ot never ceased to amaze me the cars people would cast off as junk. i got an 01 grand am for 450. beautiful shape, all options worked, just needed intake gaskets. so, an afternoon worth of work, n i had a respectful looking car, for not much cash.
Congrats on the Lincoln, you got a great deal there! Just my opinion, but I'd leave it bone stock, and I'd put the quietest muffler I could find on it---a Lincoln is all about class, you should barely be able to hear the engine run. I'm looking forward to more videos on this one.
Agree 130%. All that hot rod stuff is misplaced on a TC. I'd like to see it cleaned up, classed up, made stock and showroom nice. I really don't think you should spend a dime on bolt on muscle car parts. Save that for a nice F150 or find a early 70's Mustang. Looks like you've found a car with nice bones. Bring back the elegance. Watch the '86 Lincoln TV commercial for inspiration. It's one of the most famous car commercials in history.
I'd have snatched her up in a minute. will look awesome all done. it looks to be a 88 or 89. 1985 and 86's had the back up lights in the middle. 88& 89's had one on each side. like your vids
I got a '82, basically the same shit. I can't say for sure for your year (what fits mine will fit yours for exhaust at least) But for mine there was a factory option for dual exhaust. Using those parts might save you some time and money.
that power steering whine at 5:00 brings back memories of my '94 aerostar. loved that thing. sold it to some contractors for $1,300 7 or so years back. had well over 200k when i sold it. probably in car heaven by now : (
Welcome to the Lincoln Club buddy. I have an 88 model Town Car Signature Series that I bought from the original owner. You definitely need to get your hood ornament back on the grill top. Go with Flowmasters. Has a better sound over glasspacks. Diamond in the Rough. 👍
Hey also just a tip is that power steering fluid and transmission fluid are the same hydraulic fluid. Transmission fluid is just colored to make it easy to spot leaks. So next time it's low you can use trans fluid👍🏻 happy hunting!
28+ years with the original owner. With most new Lincoln buyers being more mature people I find myself wondering if maybe the owner passed on and the family didn't know the car was worth anything or they just needed it out of the way quickly, maybe due to unreasonable craigslist "buyers" or looky-lous using up the time that it needed to gone in. Either way that's a great junk yard save and a really nice find that's going to make a great car with a little TLC. Give it a couple of years and something like that in decent condition is going to be $5000 all day long and any day of the week...
I own a1988 Lincoln Town Car too . I put a timing chain and gears in my car and it runs great ! The PVC valve screen under the valve should be removed because the engine can't breathe properly. The intake manifold gasket from the factory was not good, I replaced it, it leaked coolant and motor oil in back of the manifold. Bought this car used in September 1990 .
When you look under the hood, you notice how easy it is to work on! Plent of room-not like a modern AUDI (where you have to remove the front of the car to replace a water pump).
Hah, I have just found this. What a great find. Very nice comfy car. Snazzy indeed. And also I have just seen an update -which I'll be watching after this. Unusually good timing ! Just to let you know I enjoy your videos. Keep up the fine filming. From UK = )
Nice rescue you paid a reasonable price. In Elmira NY at 654 Sullivan Street in sits an abandoned 1991 Ford Mustang. It hadn't run in over a year and a half the guy that owns it is in the military. The motor is seized up. The owner tried to remove the rear drive axle to ynseize the motor thereby breaking the rear drive axle. My hope is someone will locate the owner buy it and fix it up before it rots away and become scrap iron. That would be a shame. They are highly sought after muscle cars. It would be wrong to let it sit and rot away and become scrap iron. Fan or restoring old vehicles Robert Gildea
i had an 88 lincoln i picked up for $5 was literally rusted out. no truck, no rear panel structure. took the exhaust off behind the cats and it had a good tone to it. i ended up scrapping it because replacement parts for the body were far and few, i have a video of it on my channek
hi jay, these guys say that 700.00 is alot of money to pay for the lincoln but the inside is real clean and its got mags on it.do you know how much it is to do interior work, jay you did good.thanks and se ya mike elcamino
While late 1980s Town Cars use regular Dexron in their transmissions, the power steering system requires Type F fluid... so that you know. These cars are known for leaking power steering pumps.... and I have to wonder if its because people put in some fluid OTHER THAN TYPE F.
my t/c is 88 also, these are next to last year, of square body lincolns.my uncle ,drove mine from va to florida every year2800 miles round trip,,,interstate rigs these cars are.
if you wanted to get a Lincoln in the nice of condition in my neck of the woods here in Michigan (which you can't) you would have to pay upwards of 2000 too 2500
96 LTC exec, looks just like your 95, I hear they can tow up to 5000 lbs, only payed 800 bucks for her in Panama City fl, been to ky n bk to fl four times. Quite possibly there best 800 I've spent Yet.
I knew I watched a video about this Lincoln ages ago but didn’t remember if it was this video. I do remember losing it at “apeshit” so I’m pretty sure it’s his video hahaha
I know I know! But something about the beater sound reminds me of cars I heard as a kid. And I always thought a big old boat with loud exhaust was the coolest thing ever. Just trying to live a dream man.
That ford takes transmission fluid type f for power steering fluid not power steering fluid. Power steering fluid burns these the system all up. Always happens.......
I'm glad to see young people go for these older cars vs the new current Lincoln's & Cadillac's. Nice save.
This warms my heart. I miss my old Town Car SO much. Nothing like them for comfort on a long road trip. The ultimate touring sedan! Thanks so much for rescuing this one!
I love those old Town Cars. Well worth $450. Beautiful car.
Great save. This Lincoln did deserve the second chance that you gave it. After all its a classic now. once they roll thru the gates of the junkyard most never hit the road again. I'm very happy to see the solid Lincoln go thru these stages. Great job.
Who in their right mind would put a great shape Lincoln Town Car in the damn junkyard??? People don't think. Awesome save man.
its a soon to be (if not already) classic! I had no choice but to rescue it!
Jay Smart you did the right thing man. I own a 2007 Grand Marquis. Would love to try to find a Lincoln from the 80s someday. Would love a shiney black or silver one.
IKR, this will be the next classic car, very iconic and are great cars.
Timothy Wells this ABSOLUTELY breaks my heart you would junk her 😔
I have a 1985 Lincoln i turned into a BEAUTIFUL car and the body when i bought it was half the shape of this 😔😔😔
Owner probably died and kids just didnt have space or interest in it
I commend you for saving this. It's astounding what some people throw away. People forget that dirt washes off and parts can be replaced, but once they're gone, they're gone forever.
I have nine of these cars, and working on #10. I love them all. One of them I pulled out of a salvage yard as well.
This car is a find; and, it should have never been sent to a junk yard. Nice save!
Thank you! I thought so myself!
I agree, but waiting for an emission abortion! MAF LMNOP XYZetc....
This is exactly the type of American car I'd go for. Good save!
Chris Watson American luxury.
Chris Watson dame here

I'm glad you rescued this Lincoln Town Car, I've always liked these as much as the Cadillac. If I could've afforded one new I would've bought one same with a Cadillac. I now have for 4 years a 2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature which love it. Now onto watching your video.
That old girl sounds pretty good!! Get all the filters. And Chex the power steering lines!! Great find!!
Love that style Town Car with the Rolls Royce looking grill.
shes a sweet machine for sure. Im so ready to get it on the road !
Old Town Car work is something I'll subscribe for.
This looks a great car, far too good to scrap.
A great save.
What a beautiful car!
A Diamond in the rough, that car is beautiful
Love the old town cars.
So little love for the big comfy boats, man. I just don't get it. Why would they even dump it off there...augh. Damn clock even works?? Lol, pure insanity. People have no respect for these gentle giants, I tell you.

Its not a 1941 car just a 80s car...
@@MXguy95 yes they are. I've always loved luxury cars since in my teens including this model year Town Car as the Cadillac Brougham.
when i lived in Conway, ot never ceased to amaze me the cars people would cast off as junk. i got an 01 grand am for 450. beautiful shape, all options worked, just needed intake gaskets. so, an afternoon worth of work, n i had a respectful looking car, for not much cash.
car will give you 70 mph all day long
Congrats on the Lincoln, you got a great deal there! Just my opinion, but I'd leave it bone stock, and I'd put the quietest muffler I could find on it---a Lincoln is all about class, you should barely be able to hear the engine run. I'm looking forward to more videos on this one.

justsomeguytoyou put in stock mufflers and will be normal
I'd love to see what it looked like after detailing! I'll subscribe! I'm a Lincoln lover, too.
I like that you save this car
Im proud of u, to recover this piece of history and give a new life. In spain its so difficult to do.
Remember when these were dime a dozen. Had a few and almost every one had bum power window motors, assorted electric problems. Never let me down tho!
It should only go up in value as it is getting to be a classic. I get a lot of looks and comments.with my 93 Town Car I had given to me 4 years ago.
I'd have snatched her up in a minute. will look awesome all done. it looks to be a 88 or 89. 1985 and 86's had the back up lights in the middle. 88& 89's had one on each side. like your vids
Hey just so u know u can use trans fluid as power steering fluid if u have to won't hurt the pump
What ever u pay for it. It’s nothing it’s a town car buddy Thanks for rescuing it
Awesome find! You look like Nascar driver Chase Elliott
👍Nice! I’m enjoying these vids. Thx for posting them! Love these old Lincoln’s!
BTW- A lot of 5.0 vics from that era have true h-pipe dual exhaust. Obviously will bolt right up!
Good to know !
great deal man!
you're big pimpin now. The underside of that car isn't half bad compared to the other Lincoln from the 1 second I saw
I have a 89 town car signature series and she is stunning wish I could send you a pick of mine
I got a '82, basically the same shit. I can't say for sure for your year (what fits mine will fit yours for exhaust at least) But for mine there was a factory option for dual exhaust. Using those parts might save you some time and money.

Glad to see it was rescued. Though, it makes me think of all the cars people junk for small things that arent saved.
Check for vacuum leaks, too. That idle's kinda high...
Cool vid you got that car for a good price
Nice cars where do you have the Lincoln
vacuum inside wash outside looks like new!
It's a fear price
28+ years with the original owner. That's a fair price for how clean it is
I picked up an 86’ Crown Vic and when it shifts you can really feel it. It kinda clunks into gear. Is that bad?
I own a1988 Lincoln Town Car too . I put a timing chain and gears in my car and it runs great ! The PVC valve screen under the valve should be removed because the engine can't breathe properly. I hope you tightened the lug nuts and checked the brakes. Also have a mechanic check the relays and electronics.
hi jay, these guys say that 700.00 is alot of money to pay for the lincoln but the inside is real clean and its got mags on it.do you know how much it is to do interior work, jay you did good.thanks and se ya mike elcamino

Hey jay? How’s dad doin? He ok?
aa full frame dashboard I might say. but I love the car
It's 4:20 on the clock :)
$700 was a great price for the Lincoln
Love it
if you wanted to get a Lincoln in the nice of condition in my neck of the woods here in Michigan (which you can't) you would have to pay upwards of 2000 too 2500
This one is native to Minnesota , Im surprised how clean it was. Must have been a summer car
+Jay Smart it has to be with paint like that and chances are it being a Lincoln it was not a young person driving it
96 LTC exec, looks just like your 95, I hear they can tow up to 5000 lbs, only payed 800 bucks for her in Panama City fl, been to ky n bk to fl four times. Quite possibly there best 800 I've spent Yet.
That an 84 to 86 ? Nice classic dude
The lincon is a 1988 or 1989
I knew I watched a video about this Lincoln ages ago but didn’t remember if it was this video. I do remember losing it at “apeshit” so I’m pretty sure it’s his video hahaha
An old car with glass packs sounds like every other old beater with loud mufflers.
A Lincoln Town Car is supposed to be WHISPER QUIET.
I know I know! But something about the beater sound reminds me of cars I heard as a kid. And I always thought a big old boat with loud exhaust was the coolest thing ever. Just trying to live a dream man.
GooglFascists A lincoln towncar is supposed to be however the fuck you want it to be lol.
In a car that old ATF transmission fluid will work for power steering
👊🏽🍻👍🏽awesome
Lincoln rocks

great deal for 700$
That ford takes transmission fluid type f for power steering fluid not power steering fluid. Power steering fluid burns these the system all up. Always happens.......
Don't scrap your cats! .... oh ... right. Different kind of 'cats'. :p
thtsa daang great price if nothings wrong with it much ....
8:30 Why did that sentence make me laugh so hard?
I have no idea. Are fuel gauges that funny? lol
Watching it again, I think the word "apeshit" and the way you said it makes me laugh
I've got a 1988 lol you want it?

Marlboro smoothes, mmmm. That's what I used to smoke until I decided I cared about my lungs....
J Lang smooths are fuckin nasty
What’s wrong with the hood?
Do you not close it all way?
The panther body's father
It is a panther body, the panther debuted in 1979 as the “downsized” LTD and Marquis.
