I loved playing this, my teacher sped it up to fit within competition time limits but i wish we could’ve just played it at this tempo.

My high school marching band has this as it's first song in a set for the half time show. I'm in the color guard and we just got finished learning the routine but not positions on the field. I'm so excited because it sounds amazing and I know we're going to wow people away.

Ayyyyyyy same. We are probably in the same guard. XD

Oh cool! Well I won't say my high school name but idk. My name is Anna, is yours Steffeny? Or Steffany? I don't have someone named that in my guard but it's a huge coincidence anyways. Nice!

Holy crap. Our band is doing this. Our theme is Ray Charles. We start off with What'd I Say, then Hit the road jack, then Let the good times roll, and last is Georgia on my mind. Our crowd will love this song. 😁😄😄

Is that Reedley High Marching and Dancing Band from California? I was in the band all 4 years of high school. We had the same arrangement. We didn't play typical march music and the reason why was Burl Walter, the head instructor, HATED marching season. About two minutes in the kicksteps started.

The band on the recording MIGHT have been the Furman University band, with whom Jay Bocook was affiliated

Actually, back then it was the LSU Tigers

My bad. It was Northeast Louisiana University (now known as Louisiana-Monroe)

It does sound like the Jensen recording that Furman recorded when Bocook was the director. If memory serves me correctly, we recorded his arrangement of Olympic Fanfare on that same album. Georgia and Carolina on my Mind always got the stands on their feet.

does anyone know where i could find the score for this arrangement??

Hal Leonard Publications (originally these were Jenson arrangements which Hal Leonard bought out). They have a website. I believe this version is the "Limited Edition Series" Marching Band (originally published 1983). Looks like it's about $60.

This is very close. Jim Ott arranged it for Spirit of Atlanta.

Can you name the band that did this recording? They did all the Jenson recordings.

Bob Kidd - The University of Oklahoma Marching Band (Pride of Oklahoma), of which I was a member when this recording took place. Yes, we did many of Jenson recordings back then.

This recording was made by Northeast Louisiana University (now known as Louisiana-Monroe). Jensen switched off between NLU and the University of Oklahoma to do their live recordings during the early 80's...

There were 2 other songs recorded by Jensen publications that I can't remember the name to and can't find. One starts off with the drum major giving count in the background you can barley hear him and the begins with a short drumline intro followed by maybe two trumpet soloists and then the band comes in with an amazing song. The other begins with very quick xylophone intro then the band comes in behind. I know that's probably not the best description but if anyone can tell me the name of either song I'd appreciate it

I bet the one with the xylophone was Firebird or Come in From the Rain.

Yes. Definitely Pictures at an Exhibition (1981) and Firebird (1982)

East Brunswick (NJ) HS played the Jenson arrangement of Pictures At an Exhibition "off the line" in the fall of 1981 (I had graduated in June 1981) ... John Painter played the "lead" trumpet solo on this arrangement (not sure who played the 2nd solo part) ... I still say that the EBHS band in fall of 1981 was THE BEST that EBHS had ... until John Kish (who was sousaphone in fall of 1981 for EBHS) became band director ca. 1989 ... the year before (fall of 1980, my senior year), EBHS played Jenson's arrangement of Night on Bald Mountain "off the line" ... THAT season EBHS won FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER at the Music Bowl held at UMass in Amherst MA (figures that we had to leave New Jersey to get appreciation) ...
