@@recruit412 th-cam.com/video/wnz79U2wCaU/w-d-xo.html The Pride of Oklahoma 1986 with this song, written by asst. director Roland Barrett. Yes, I was there. :)
I love this tune. I was in the PRIDE of Oklahoma when Roland wrote this and we played it in 1986, The Jazz Opener. Watch the youtube video The Pride of Oklahoma 1986 Orange Bowl pt 1
wasn't this also done at the O.B.A. contest ? at the conclusion of finals ? ? nothing against the fine high school bands, BUT, it was always a treat to watch & listen to a massive college band, part everyone's hair.
this recording is evident of something I've said every marching season since my freshman year. a lot of tuba sections play the whole thing wrong. and they all play it the wrong way the same. How is this happening is there something they are not reading or articulating ?
@@angelgiacomo so I guess you didn't read it right. I was saying the recording is not what the bands I heard play. Meaning the bands the I heard were not playing it right not the master recording. Why would I say the master recording was wrong ?
Jensson Publications. It was written by Roland Barrett. It came out in 1987. This was one of my alltime favorite marching band songs. Many of his arrangements have this feel.
This was our HS opener for years. Man it was awesome.
THE PRIDE OF WAYCROSS HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND!!!!!
brings back memories from my freshman and senior years in high school... best days of my life!!!
Played this in high school marching band. Always enjoyed playing rhe trumpet solo
I remember playing this back in the late 1980s while marching at Grove City College, home of the Wolverine Marching Band.
This is an exciting drill song!!!!!!!
The best of the best....for years this is what my school band was known for!!
R.I.P. Brian Millsapp.... he loved this song ❤
Mr. Millsap was a legend and I'll forever remember him as a genius beyond his years. R.I.H
Awesome!!!
UCF plays a modified version of this as their pregame fanfare.
UCF uses this as their pregame fanfare.
who is the composer of this beautiful piece?
Roland Barrett
This is the University of Oklahoma “Pride of Oklahoma” marching band. Recorded in 1986. Roland Barrett is indeed the composer. Insanely awesome piece.

How is it wrong when this is the band that originated the song with the asst. director who wrote it. Roland Barrett
I still have the LP from Jenson with this song on it.
th-cam.com/video/wnz79U2wCaU/w-d-xo.html watch about 1:20 and you'll hear it
so a high school freshman knows more than the composer and the band that originally played it. I guess you are a savant.
