This was 15 years ago and today once again we got to perform 200 strong. We played heart break. A day I will never forget and proud to be a Reedley pirate. We were test subjects to maybe adding a different category to Santa Cruz band review.
We played this at halftime football games at Bladenboro High School in Bladenboro NC back in the 80's , I can remember how much they enjoyed a good performance. We also had a great conductor, the late great Charles Allen Jr.
They were good, and entertained the crowd:) They actually ranked 24th overall out of 55 bands. The 5th place was out of 9 bands in their class A division only. There were a total of 7 divisions....55 bands total.
Also, for the Band Review Reedley attended, it's an NCBA event, not SCSBOA and NCBA does not have an approved list of marches so bands are free to play/perform whatever they choose.
Yeah I agree. If they had used an actual parade block of say 9 across 10 to 12 rows back and an approved march, they would have done some real damage and scored in the 90s, easily:) BUT they were by far the best entertaining band and the crowd really did enjoy it. A score of 93.2 would have put them right between Golden Valley (class A-95.25) and Armijo(class AA-92.55).
I was going to say the same thing....just 3 years later, haha. NCBA doesnt give the penalty for the song you play, there is no list. They still did amazing!
There is no approved list of marches for NCBA judged events. You can play any march. "Georgia on my mind" does not constitute a march. According to the recaps they were only penalized 1 point. They were entertaining though.

😅 hopefully the band size grows next year. I was in the RHS band 2007-2011 and man was that band huge.
