Ihigly disagree with the health bar like KINGDOM you don't need it you just need a visual clue that evolve and then a wiki with the exact stat for an overall idea.
I'd really like a side-scrolling game like one of these (and not nesecarrily _this one_ ) that used the background layers as the timer for invasion of the demons/armies. Like, night 1 has fires and smoke on the mountain's slopes; night 2 the fires get bigger or more numerous; night 3-5 the fires move the next layer in and the mountains have fires even during the day; and each night (or set of nights) it gets worse and the waves of enemies get thicker and more varied instead of just a weird portal that poops them out on you. It might be interesting to see one where something similar is happening below ground too, with allies, other enemies, or natural phenomenon welling up from below; like dwarves that mined too deep and got themselves a balrog.
To game devs: You need a dopamine releasing sound. I know it sounds stupid, but you do. Kingdom new lands had the bad guy sounds, and death noises, the coin pickup sound, the little chimes when upgrading, ect. You need those small sharp sounds that trigger some minor chemical reaction in the player's brain.

It's like when you start getting annoyed when listening to your alarm clock music (no matter which music it is or how much you like it) because well... It makes your brain recall the sensation of having to wake up quickly. In their case, some sort of small sound whenever the sun rises or falls, or when enemies break a wall or arrive at the player's buildings (screaming? fire?) would be nice. They should take full advantage of stereo sound too, so the player can quickly tell from which direction the sound cue came from.
@@ammygamer what you are suggesting are "immersive sound" that different from what he suggest, for most game if you want that, you have to download mod(sound of skyrim or immersive sound for example). He suggest "dopamine" which is more like the "loot box" sound when you unlock rare item, répétitives sound that are the same without variety or almost no varieties . If you play "modern game" it's mostly loud music as well, I guess it do the job of répétitive conditioning . Also conditioning isn't nice, neither is viewing your customers as animals, plus I have learned to distrust whoever say or write " we human are all x" it's a mental gymnastic by nasty people's try to say everyone share their sins and is just pretending to hide them. I had one of them come in my area recently and pretend to be a baller "oh yeah I got 7(or 8) properties, I am here to buy a house money isn't a problem I got a team of builders working for me". Then when I told him the house he wanted was overpriced and to distrust the seller as he is know for his dishonesty and avarice, he went "oh but we human are all suffering from avarice". He also brag about "giving away for free" a pieces of land to some people's who bought an house from him and how "the girl cried from happiness" anyway I suggested him another house. He then went to the owner and "pretended" to buy it, also he wanted the other adjacent house as well, then he had the paper and all, just needed to sign and such finalities . He asked for a quotation from the local carpenters and "couvreur" who are also scammer, even thought he had " a team" and "would do the work himself" . The quote was to high and he ran away lolz. Anyway treating people's like if they were animal and not men and women is evil and disrespectful, it show that the person view the customers lowly and if you told me that i would not buy your product. If you lied to me and hide, i would grow doubt about the industry as a whole, which i did. Oh its also demagogue like because people's who do this have a tendency of ignoring genuine suggestions about gameplay and art style and instead decide to go with " the pigs feed" techniques "you think you do but you don't" . And it ignore all the people's who dislike it.
Interesting game. Would be nice if facilities like smithy could be built underground. Save the surface for farms and the like. Maybe mushroom farms in the mines, even.

@@honorablepixel6413 An even wilder idea that occurred to me while watching is to make more space available under the dome. I don't mean widen it, but give it depth instead. Just visualize the dome in 3D space and you'll see you have a row of buildable space down the center. Think of that as Main Street. You could have one or two more parallel "streets" on each side but smaller as they approach the dome edge. Maybe even have to build and man walls on every street in a hard mode. 😉 But then buildings the player puts on other streets could show in the parallax background. Just an idea. Hope it was clear. We originally created the game in such a way that after some time the player would get a second and then a third village under their control, which would be managed simultaneously. That sounds a lot like your suggestion :)
And then your people dig too deep, and demons start spawning in the mines, and you have to defend those as well... ... or at least that's how it would go if they were Dwarves.

And I, personally, would immediately be sold the moment that feature is available. One thing that I do suggest if you expand the underground gameplay is to add a lights system, partially for aesthetic/decor but also to potentially make an anti-cheesing system. Perhaps the civilians work slower/less effectively in the dark, elsewise people might focus too many of their buildings underground. Perhaps some lanterns hanging from the ceiling or walls, or even magic fairy lights-maybe the fairy lights also function as a demon trap? Not sure how that’d fit, but thinking outloud anyways. The game looks absolutely gorgeous so far, by the way. Especially the backgrounds. Y’all should be very proud!
One thing I think would be great to add it a pointer at the sides of the screen showing how many immigrants or monsters are offscreen in that direction, so you don't have to pan back and forth and count manually.
The visuals are indeed gorgeous, great amount of care and passion, as well as the technicalities of defence management. It's encouraging because it shows a lot of thoughts for how the game will be played, up to the small and very important details.

Idk why but this game just tickles my pickle. It’s so visually beautiful and actually feels rewarding to survive each night and expand. The music is amazing. I wouldn’t usually be into stuff like this but I legit want to play this and really anticipate its development.
Reminds me of The Demon Cycle book series. It's like a medieval setting where demons attack people at nighttime from these portals that open up from the ground and people are protected from them by using magic wards that create barriers the demons can't cross. Cool game. I might check it out.

Def inspired by it, be it artistic direction or gameplay. But it also adds so much that you can't say it's the same. It's like saying cities skyline is the same as sim city... ok the former was inspired by the later, but they def aren't the same. ^^
It looks good. Seems to address some of my bigger issues with Kingdom, being able to send soldiers specifically left or right, for example. Very pretty pixel graphics, too, which is always a plus for me. Will probably pick this up once it's out of early access.

Every time I see this layout of a game, I think what if it was two person coop. Where one person can only work center to the left, and the other center to the right, Everything on the right can be traded for to get to the left and visa versa. So if you have the wood cutter on the left and I have the mine on the right, We can trade a farmer for an lumberjack (The output of that worker would go to the side he was traded to) Or just trade lumber for stone. The Side that falls last gets bigger rewords, so you have the dynamic of helping while competing. Yes I'm sure there are problems yada yada can't yada yada imposable . . . . . . still think it would be cool.
Oh, is this the sequel to Kingdoms series? I stopped playing Kingdoms: New Lands because it glitched so hard that my characters ended up getting kicked out of the playing area and into no-place. I was afraid my game was cursed and quickly uninstalled it. I love isekai, but I wouldn't want to be isekai'd into the world of Kingdoms.

played this game, all good on start of the game but after playing so many hours and level up anything the games become boring. I hope the quest-line somehow gives excitement and at least the monster should be somewhat more challenging like Kingdoms new lands

played this game, all good on start of the game but after playing so many hours and level up anything the games become boring. I hope the quest-line somehow gives excitement and at least the monster should be somewhat more challenging like Kingdoms new lands
