I love Zoom because now my students are going to be any player in the world that really wants a world class instructor. They don't even have to travel to the USA, which will save them ton's of money.
Hi Great binge-worthy content and I doubt you'll see this comment, much less respond, but I'd like to see a video demonstrating various pro players' strokes. Some players have a long, beautiful almost "wavy" or loopy, loose and relaxed stroke resembling a"figure 8" or see-saw motion like many Filipino players, including Efron and Bustamante. While others have a high and frozen elbow with a straight take-back and follow-through. Hope I'm describing this right. I love Efron and SVB's stroke. Thank you!

I can't fault someone as pro as SVB. But I often analyze these aiming systems and the underlying geometry... To me this system's geometry changes depending on your distance to the shot, resulting in a DIFFERENT ghost ball on a close vs distant shot.... So it would seem that at certain distances you may fall back to ghost ball method.... Imagine a 100 foot shot for demonstration vs a 6 inch shot with the same angle. The distant shot will contact differently than the up close shot.
You are correct. I feel that if the cue ball closer than 18 inches from the object ball, that there are adjustments. Closer than 12 inches there is a lot of adjustment.
There are adjustment for any aiming systems. It just will never be the same. Of course the distances between objects are important whether it is CB-Ob or OB-pocket in relation. But this SVB aiming system is just about 30% of what Shane utilize in his games and execution. Everyone has their own favorite system to base on, and this is Shane favorite.
Can you get Shane to endorse these videos? To say this is his system as you are showing?

What you have is well laid out. I enjoy the table of angle and ferrell aim point. You are clearly saying shooting through (1 to 5) of ferrell to the edge of the OB. I've seen someone else talking about shooting through the ferrell to the OB contact point. Are these systems ending up visually looking the same be described slightly differently?
SVB's system is a good system and it does work. I teach an easier system in my seminars. These aiming systems are all spinoffs of the Ghost Ball and or Fractional aiming system. I have covered many different aiming methods. The one thing they all have in common is putting your cue ball into the ghost ball position at impact between the cue ball and object ball. Your correct in saying it is much of the same information but is packaged and presented a little different. Hope this helps. Johnny Henson Professor Pool.
Most aiming systems are the fractional aiming system. It was first invented by Albert Einstine in 1925. It was also in Willie Misconi's book in 1948. When you get dialed in on these systems they are presented of explained different but all very similar to each other. I feel that all aiming systems is just a way to put your cue ball into the proper ghost ball position at impact with the object ball. Hope this helps. Johnny Henson Professor Pool.
The trick, and there's always a trick, is to be able to determine the angle 10, 20, 28 ,37,45 so you can aim properly and I know of no system for doing that short of laying down a protractor which is impracticable. It's only learned through the ability to see the angles and the experience of trial and error creating the mental picture memory of what works. But this does give somewhat of a guide to use so thanks I'll be giving a try.
This is just another fractional aiming system. It does work. I teach a different system in my seminars that I feel is easier to learn and use. I am glad you enjoyed it.
After watching both of your SVB system many times. I think I see how your lining up. If you could make one showing you body position for each of the 5 shots with how the CB is situated toward the OB that would be helpful. And how are you adjusting for English ? Moving the ferrule position to the next spot either inside or outside ?
On your shaft you have 2 marker / pencil rings around your shaft. What is each for ?

Honestly the best way to learn and master this system is to shoot 10 of #1 then #2 x 10 shots and so on. It is not just math. You need to get a feel for these shots. If you hit hard or soft it effects the shot. Slick or fast felt verses slow felt effects the shots. If you can shoot at different speeds and on different tables. Hope this helps.
Can you show how to improve your stoke video
What would be more helpful is to have a stroke analyzed and graded. The stroke of most untrained players is less than 25% correct out of a possible 100% when graded on video. I teach via Zoom to players all over the world and the USA. My number is 623-377-0042
This is great content my game has really improved I also tried using it with center follow and center draw I’m running out a lot more and most shots I’m learning to use the angles and not side spin a lot less 👍👍

It works very good. For applying left or right english, are you moving your bridge hand just a little to the inside or outside of the CB and still using the same parts of the ferrule ? Or are you using BHE ? Also what are the 2 pencil marks on your shaft for ?
I use very little English. I use angles and the tangent line to move the cue ball. The back mark is my bridge length and the front mark is how far I draw backwards or stroke length. This being consistent makes speed control and cue ball control easy. I invented the marked shaft to teach students in class 15 years ago. I have been teaching and playing with it ever since. In regards to aiming through the CB. Are you turning your body to the CB position that you aiming to on the OB (edge). Such as say # 2 {from the right). Which would be the right quarter. Are you putting the CB alignment to that position as well as the the right quarter of tip/ferrule ? So on each position that you align the tip too, your turning so that part of the CB and the position of the the tip are pointed to the same place (edge)? Basically your not staying aligned center CB to center OB. You align that part of the CB and that part of the tip is aimed to at the edge. You align Cb and the tip to the same position. Is that correct ?
Always hit your cue ball in the center on on the center axis. High or low but in the center of the cue ball. You are just aligning your shot line to different parts of the ferrel to the out side edge of the object ball that you are shooting. This is a fractional aiming system similar to other fractional aiming systems, but Shane just does it different than other systems. Hope this helps. Johnny Henson Professor Pool.

Quick question.. what if the angle of the shot falls into the degrees that are in the middle of an aim point? Like 15 degrees or 40 degrees.. does the system still work at the closest aim point? Looks like a great system.. thank you for posting it..
I believe that all aiming systems need to be calibration in the mind. With proper training the mind will tell you the angle or shot. I have taught calibration to students for 15 years. Most professional players use calibration in their aiming. Johnny Henson

Just stumbled upon your videos and I have a question. Let's say I'm shooting at the #2 position, you say to aim at the center of the cue...just to be clear, on this shot are you saying to aim the #2 position (half way between middle and edge) of your ferrule at the center of the cue thru the outside edge of the object ball?
There are 5 shot aims 1 and 5 are the edge of your stick aiming at the edge of the object ball. 3 is the center of your stick or Ferrell aiming at the edge of the object ball. 2 and 4 are half way between the center of the stick and the out side edge. Hope this helps Johnny Henson

@@tonyguerrier2258 yes. Always be hitting dead center of the cue ball. No left or right side spin.
Not familiar to the zoom , how does it work as far as leading my stroke to a better one !

5 doesn't work for me. I feel like I have to aim slightly outside of the edge of the ball from the center of the cue ball to achieve a five or I can throw it in with a little bit of outside English but not dead center
I was however shooting from the center of the table to the head string. Maybe I should offset the cue ball. I have those little reinforcement circles for my table how can I replicate this setup
I found that the size of the table and how slick or worn the felt and if the balls are clean and polished can make a difference. I would like you to try this on different tables then modify it a little if necessary.
Head position id HUGE. If your head position varies just 1/4 to 1/2 inch you will miss a lot of shots. Professionals have precise head position over their cue stick if not they will not be a top pro very long.

I've been using Ghost Ball, Edge to Edge, and a little of SVG the system, what is the best to standardize on? How do you judge what angle the object ball is to the pocket in relation to the Cue Ball?
I find the fractional aiming systems work best for most players. There are many. The trick is to shoot a system for a few hours with random balls to get a feel for that system
