I really hope you make a video on skill prioritization. Like when to stop reapplying dots, when to switch your spammable to your execute, when to stop casting a skill altogether and what skills take priority above all else.
Note, in terms of applying DOTs, some apply a buff, either directly or from a passive, apply this first, then the pure damage DOT, so the buff applies to the damage, especially DOTs with a big up-front damage so it gets the full benefit
Very diplomatic way to say, "is the build REALLY the same". But it needs to be said. There are so many details to check that I often find myself saying, I'll finish up that (leveling that skill, golding that gear) later and I don't get back to it.
Quite a common miss in setting up your build is slotting the correct type of gear and armor weight. Slotting 2 light armor engine guardian can be great for sustain, however swapping the helmet or should of engine guardian for a medium item of the engine guardian will offer more penetration, which is quite often lacking in group content. Don't forget that zenimax nerfed engine guardian a while ago, and you can no longer use repentance on the engine guardian corpse. This would have saved us the need to slot 1 more light armor item, but alas we find ourselves in this current situation where Engine Guardian is still neccesary to be used with 1 light armor item still.
I do have an issue with my play style, I use a 2h on my front bar with MA staff or bow back bar for my stamina warden. When I use wrecking blow then lightattack, it’ll be a double cast of wrecking blow. The other issue is I could be right in front of my target but can’t execute the skill without having to use stampede or move the crosshairs onto each enemy. Not optimal for most trial groups but I’m 72-80k dps depending on the gear. Just switched to regular coral riptide on the body instead of gold rele on body and it’s a huge difference in vet content in the burn I do. I will start using weapon power/crit potions but which skills would be good on back bar in place of Netch and lotus?
Skinny Cheeks, question: Elemental Susceptibility, how did you get that tooltip dmg? Also what would you regard as a low burning uptime? I'm really struggling what to choose as my backbar dmg buff. Like I have the options, Vampire's Bane, Degeneration, Mystic Orb and Elemental Susceptibility.. All these buffs have their perks, but look from the pov that I don't need major sorc/brut or savagery/prophecy.. Also my weaving isn't superb so not sure if that's actually better.. I saw Caltrops as an option on your guides but my dmg cp boosts are Thaum + Deadly Aim. So not really aoe oriented. Any advice from you Skinny? Or somebody else for that matter. Much appreciated!
Not sure what you mean about the damage tooltip. If you don’t need the major buffs then normally you don’t need to run vamp bane and degen, no. Caltrops can be a nice option for aoe dps yeah. Thaum boosts it since it is a dot. You don’t have to worry about every cp always working with it.
@@skinnycheeks okay cool! I meant with the dmg tooltip in your spreadsheet. It has a damage base tooltip of 7260 damage or something like that. But the tooltip itself has no damage in it, so I supposed it's based from the burning, ... effects? I tested Mystic Orb and that also seems like a really good option, especially giving a synergy.
Just started this journey myself and one of the BEST pieces of advice to be been given so far… is slow down! It’s not about speeding up, or panic spamming when trial lead shouts execute phase and you all start going mad… slow down! Light attack skill pause, light attack skill pause.. go hit a target dummy using nothing but a light attack and an instant cast skill over and over again until you get into the rhythm of doing all 3 of those inside 1 second. I found around 11k dps increase in doing this over and over meaning I was basically not casting light attacks even though I was pushing the button.. because I was doing it too fast
Hey, good video, very helpful. I have a question unrelated to the video but what kinds of builds or playstyles best suit Argonian race? I basically have an Argonian DPS but I am definitely not as optimised for it compared to the usual mag DPS races (Dark Elf, High Elf et cetera). Just wondering what options there really are since I cant really see myself as a tank or healer.
You can do stam or mag dps since you have an equal distribution of stats. So whatever route you want is fine. Generally about 4% lower dps than bis races (high elf / dark elf) but for that trade off you get some extra health and a lot better sustain with your potion passive. Plus swim speed is worth more than 4% dmg anyways 🙃
Thanks, Skinny, for this wrap up. I'm still racking my brains as to why I barely get above 100k (on good days). Or maybe I'm just getting old and slow. Drat.
Rotation is not only keeping up with DoTs, isn't it also that knowing what to cast first can make a huge difference to your DPS? Some skills in game give you minor, major and unnamed buffs and debuffs that will enhance damage. Most people don't really take that into consideration. So damage is also lost because you've casted skills unbuffed.
My main question is, is two bar builds guaranteed to be better than a one bar oskensoul build? All my dots are 10 seconds or less and playing a templar makes it hard to find a dot that hits as hard as my spammable anyway, so would having extra dots but losing those buffs even help?
Not guaranteed, no. Depends on quite a few factors though. 2-bar builds definitely have a higher end potential though. I'm not sure what you mean by "templar makes it hard to find a dot that hits as hard as my spammable" though. Almost every DoT is going to do more over the full duration than you'd get from a single cast of a spammable. There are also not that many 10s DoTs left, so there are many options that are longer than that, templar has a bunch of them.
From my experience as a huge fan of oakensoul for either heavy attacks or dd with spammable, i always notice that a good 2bar user will ALWAYS deal more dps in trials. As for dungeons, with optimized group it's the same in most cases, however with groups that are not so good, or don't have a minmaxed setups, you will mostly deal the most dps simply because of how effective the oakensoul is and how much time it gives us to look around (seeing if tank loses an add, not standing in stupid, doing mechanics more efficiently etc...)
@@skinnycheeks I don't know about that one. My dots on the skills themselves say they do less damage overall than one hit from my sweeping jabs normally hits for. Or at least close. I've been running deadly, warmaiden, oakensoul, and maw as a light helmet. Lightning staff instead of daggers, since I'm rarely ever in an optimized group. Three or four times a year, on average, so sometimes sustain becomes an issue when damage isn't being hit hard enough. I'd say most of the time, I'm hitting just as hard, if not harder than the other guy, but occasionally, there's a really good player who I simply can't even keep up with. My crit isn't as high as I'd like, and I'm saving up transmutes to try something new. My skills are blazing spear, potl, will run either ritual of retribution for extra damage or explosive charge for a gap closer, the jesus beam that grants health, and sweeping jabs as spammable. It works, but could be better.
one question, i always weave by smashing the LA button all the time, usually i get good results, is it better if I practice weaving using the metronome?
In a typical 21M parse, how much dps do you lose with 15s of wasted time? Does the dps loss scale linearly as wasted weaving time increases? Might be an interesting graph.
@@skinnycheeks mind if i ask why? Cus i remember people saying that for dual wield poison was better. Was that the case before and it has changed now or was it just a misconception from the start? Oh and i wanted to ask why did your dk build had flame damage enchant in one hand in and poison in the other for dw frontbar. Wouldn't it be better to use both poison or both flame? Thank you for all your guides btw, they have been a great help
unfortunately dps is to much depend on flame damage and on set . for example all players have to use same set for hit high dps . and there is few sets for dps not alot dps and damages
“No one really uses those sets for anything but trash.” This is not true. They are great for bosses as well. Not every boss of course. Sul-xan needs a steady flow of adds to keep it up. And azureblight needs adds as well to be effective. But there are definitely plenty of bosses that meet those conditions. So yes it’s great on trash but also bis for many bosses as well that meet those conditions. Doesn’t have to be a combo of those either. They can be paired with other sets if the encounter calls for something else more.
Either you can weave well or you can't weave as good as whatever TH-camrs build you're copying idk how people always ask that first question it seems like common sense lol
@@oSTYNCLSYo agreed I'm still on that journey myself just gotta practice I just wish people had a little more common sense and not try to start blaming everything else on why they can't match the DPS of whatever build they're copying yk

Engine guardian engine guardian engine guardian, engine guardian. Engine guardian engine? engine guardian Engine Guardian engine guardian, engine guardian engine guardian engine guardian engine guaridan: engine guardian engine engine guardian. Engine guardian?
Medium armor does not increase penetration tho. If you are lacking pen, you should wear more light armor, not less.
Buff Engine Guardian
