Good Morning from San Francisco. Just a note to let you know how much I look forward to Sunday mornings and each new episode, it is my great chance to escape the noise of the city and enjoy the British countryside. Yours ,Tom
Watching this 7 months after it was posted, now in the middle of covid-19 lockdown. A leisurely trip to a well stocked supermarket is now a distant dream. Thanks for the memories.
12:54, Munchie's face, like he's just discovered you've forgotten the cat food. 13:03, he's accepted the lack of food, and has lost all motivation. Also, that fruit for kids to eat while shopping is a great idea!
@@carycoombe3380 - I'm in the U.S. and having worked grocery/retail, that looks like a recipe for shoplifting to me. I'm sure they have something in place to prevent it but I just don't think it would work here.
I just realized this morning that you two have become a part of my routine. When I get up Sunday morning before I go out I have coffee and watch your video. Glad to see you ladies know how to put a proper baseball curl on the bill of your caps. Really like the bits of history you pass along. THX, I always enjoy.
Thanks for taking us along. These scan-everything-yourself supermarkets are getting more and more, unfortunately. They eliminate work places. I try to avoid them but sometimes it is not possible.
That's the fourth time I've watched this vlog, excellent . I think another supermarket visit, or office visit, or anywhere visit would be great. It just adds another dimension to the perfect vlogs you give us. You two are obviously the stars. Thank you.
Lovely to see Lazy Days full length xxxx she is looking mighty fine. You both look very well. Thank you for todays episode always a joy to watch you both.xxxxxx
One of the things we love to do anytime we are in a new country is check out the supermarkets! Great idea to take viewers on a tour of Tesco. I was VERY happy to see the Postman Pat van outside. When my girls were little they LOVED to ride in the van alongside Pat. And of course Jess was a bonus (our black and white cat is called Jess...) Great vlog as usual! Take us to Morrisons and all the other markets please - it's a treat to see them for overseas viewers - and they are a bit different from each other.
As always love the flora and fauna shots. Your tees look comfy and cool. Narrow boat girl mentioned on her vlog, that they purchased a new map book and a watering station listed was not present. Beware, may have some boos. Keep those smiles coming!!!
Always good to catch up with what fellow boaters and vlogers are doing. It's the little snippets of information about where shops and services are that are useful to get from people. cheers.
I’m watching you from 70 miles down hill from Lake Tahoe in California. I enjoyed your shopping outing in Tesco. Similar to home, but a little different, especially the scanner. Love❤️ your cats.
On our recent visit to the UK, we stayed in Market Harborough for a few days Lovely walkable town with 6 grocery stores within easy walking from our motel and in some cases within sight of each other, in the downtown area. Since we enjoy picnic type meals, instead of eating in restaurants, we were in heaven with so much choice available. There was a Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose, Sainsbury and a Co-Operative. It was fun exploring them all. I can’t wait to visit the UK again. We had the best time for the entire 10 days of our visit.
Love all your vids. I am completely in awe of the whole narrowboat thing. I enjoy the experience so and your grocery store is amazing. Funny how a store humors a person.
Truly, I saved this Narrow Boat experience vid. , sos I could enjoy it to its fullness, and you wonderful wonders served it up... and yes I would love to go shopping with you guys in this new to me wonderful part of the planet... thank you so much....always enjoyed peace and the birds and water rushing along it is mental therapy. As is the water color painting ... these all have helped my mental stress, after all I'm an American dealing w/ the same issues of WWII,
Never seen a system where you scan as you shop. I guess it saves a lot of time by not standing in line to go through a cashier. Very interesting, thanks for showing us overseas viewers shopping at Tesco! Greetings from 🇨🇦😊👍🏼
Katz 29 The best thing about it is that you can pack straight into your bags as you shop, avoiding the scenario at the checkouts where all your careful trolley management goes to pot and you end up with all the squishy stuff coming through first and getting flattened by tins as you pack!
I saw that trolley and went happy homesick on all I miss over here. When we came back here we shipped two trolleys both sadly well used and no longer with us. Thanks for sweet memories of Morrison's and home with the children💞
I so love your videos, they are like comfort food or sitting in your favourite armchair in your comfy slippers with your favourite mug filled with tea. And before i forget the prints of the kingfisher are awesome as they capture so much life :)
Thank you for the trip inside Tesco. I follow quite a few narrow boats and they all go shopping but never show inside of any shops. How many birds or cows can you see! Coming from USA I'd even like to see the inside of Aldi to compare. Your bakery and meat sections look so much fresher. A stroll thru a pretty town would be nice too! And your art is so beautiful! It took me awhile to adapt to your charm after cruising the cut and the silver foxes but now I adore you both! I've relaxed my days away during the pandemic with 5 or 6 narrowboats series. I've become addicted to following your lives. My husband thinks I'm nuts but it's better than watching crazy Biden! Even crazier, I sit on my pontoon boat with a gin and tonic watching all of you on my phone! Keeps this crazy old lady out of trouble and off amazon! Happy boating! Oh and the new boat is great! Bye!
Thanks for taking us along to Tedscos I was very curious, we don't have them where I am from in the US but we do have Aldi's. Love seeing these types of 📹's.
Excellent vlog, most artistic camera work, perfect music selection , truly exciting outing to Tesco's (thank you). Most interesting topics and conversation and so much more.
You Guys, this was such a fun video! Thank you. Munchie seemed so tired as if he was the one who went to Tesco. Exhausted, just exhausted! See you for the next one.
I loved that you took us to Tesco! I love the day to day things you share with us as well as the journeys through the beautiful scenery. Completely fantastic vlog as always! Thank you x
It was fun to get taken along to Tesco with you both (even though I'm in England so it's not too exotic a visit for me!) I'd love to see more Through The Hedge style videos of your outings off the boat.
I was quite impressed with the quickness of the delivery of my Kingfisher from you guys, about 1 week to all the way over on the Left Coast of America.
My favourite Sunday ritual - put the kettle on, feed Lemmy cat, put the bread in the oven and while it's baking watch your vlog. Enjoyed shopping with you 😁. Love Tesco at Rugeley but we always overshop and have to get it back to the boat. Note to self: need a nanna trolley x
Did you notice the excited calls of the Swallows that were flying around your heads when you moored-up at Tesco’s. Nature at its best! Thanks for sharing.
This was the first time I had seen the inside of a Tesco. It is quite an operation! Lunch and all! I started laughing when I saw my wife's favorite brand of yogurt in your bag! At least I know where to shop if I ever make it over there!
The hummingbird picture that you showed (I apologize that may not have been a hummingbird) is beautiful. Would liked to have seen a flowering plant painted behind the bird after you had painted the bird. Ernest
I caught some of your vlog this morning, had to stop, because I was setting off for a classic car show at Stoneyhurst college near Clitheroe, but it was so nice to leave with your smiling faces, then come back to my boat and catch up and still see your smiling faces, especially as the weather is, let's say, typically British for summer. Must say, that the Kingfisher painting looked stunning, nice one AM. Thank you ladies, Sunday......such a good day now you two are in it. xx
Hi good to see you today for a little chat while we filled up with water another great vlog I’ve been thinking about the item from Rugeley is a clothes airer because that’s what you was using when I spoke to you and you looked so happy with it 😂 safe travels.
Matching outfits ( hats and tops , well almost 😁 ) and munchies fed up face was a picture I assume because you had forgotten the his treats etc . The kingfisher water colour was very good your a talented lady .
Last time I was in the UK (summer of '72) there weren't any big box stores, so this was interesting to see. Just curious, but it seemed like a lot of the fruit and veg's were pre-packaged - is that usual, or just happenstance of what made it into the video? Most fruit and veg's in the US are sold loose and priced by weight. p.s. Loved Annamarie's bird art :)
The Tesco Extra was expensive. You should have stopped at the Radford In Stafford. Not only would You have got a great Breakfast but there Is a Aldi across the road. You would have got twice as much for less the money. Good luck with the rest of the Journey. We bought a boat up from Surrey to Stafford In one Week, It was amazing to back on a Boat again. It was called "The Jessey" Look out for Her Shes Blue.
when I lived in the UK, I loved Tescos never had those electronics you scan on thou, and a friend made up this song, its goes like . "Let's all go to tescos, where lyn buys all her best clothes". lol
Thank you so much for the tour of Tesco’s. Could you explain the bank/system of scanners? Does the store not have check-out grocery clerks? I’ve never seen anything like it. I was most surprised by the amount of packaging for the produce, haven’t seen that where I come from either (rural Washington state, USA.) I was also interested in seeing the meal you had. This is why I like watching you so much-beautiful, calm, educational and with kitties and art! So much fun!
Yay -- I didn't ask for Tesco, but I was just thinking that would be interesting. I loved M and S food court when I was last in the UK. Thanks for the vlog - lovely scenery from a lovely couple. Just thinking about all the plastic boxes -- you should take a few bags and leave the plastic with the shop. We've gone all "no single use plastic bags" here in Qld but the supermarkets are putting fruit in those boxes which seems to be ridiculous. I'm going to give them back at the checkout. :) Beautiful paintings!!!!!
Your sacked girl's you nearly made the dreaded Tesco's look an exciting place to visit! You should suggest to them that they turn the car-park into a marina lol, carry on with your great life style, O bye the way the Kingfisher fantastic
Very entertaining vlog. Lovely & well painted water color of a king fisher. Question do you have a wood /coal stove in your cabin? If so, where does the chimney exit your roof? TTFN 👋
Tesco stock the best Mac & Cheese sauce made by Homepride. Grandkids love it and was great to take camping 🏕 So easy to use. Have no idea what you ladies bought but a most enjoyable vlog. Glad you’re enjoying your new home. 🤗👍
This is the first video I have seen of yours. Lovely viewing, very informative, and a real trip down memory lane, in Tescos. Very interesting. Look forward to finding more of your adventures. Have you been to the Peak District, or foxton Locks yet.
We passed your boat moored at Gailey, we’ve just been up the shroppy and now heading along the Trent and Mersey - May de you again ladies - poppy cat is also onboard 😁 x
So beautiful there,! Nice video, I've often wondered if a person could make holidays from backpacking and or hiking on some of the canals? Seems like a lot of trails too walk.
awe poor munchy is upset because you haven't got the cat food, also one of our cats called Simba checks the shopping trolley when my wife comes home from shopping for their food or treats and once he finds the treat sticks he takes them out of the trolley and runs off with them, but if he gets hold of a bag of treat biscuits he'll grab a bag run off upstairs and into one of the bedrooms where he'll rip it open and help himself, I know we shouldn't laugh at him for doing it but he's so funny at doing it as he's so sneaky when he gets them, he'd make a good cat burglar(excuse the pun)
Hi, the Marmite reminds me of the Vegemite Down Under - There's a Woolworth's in nearly every town. Big but mostly not outside the town. Even the payment system reminds me of our two voyages to AUS and NZ (we are from Germany) besides you scan everything at the end. It was too short to compare prices with our supermarkets, but the fruit seems a bit more expensive.
Dear Both, thank you so much for these informative and entertaining episodes. I have been concerned for a while since you last left Rugeley about your adorable cats, not having any further mention or appearance of them en-route to Stone until now on your return. Indeed I would worry sick about losing them through the hedge! Also some of the canal water is highly suspect and not ideal to take a dip! There are lovely voles in and around the canal but also rats and they do cause disease, sorry I'm sure you know this already, I'm just a worrier. Feeling a little sad and nostalgic having watched your Rugeley experience, I used to live a short walk away from your moorings and know that stretch of the Trent and Mersey so well from the tow path (so many lovely walks including Cannock Chase) to cruising on a 45 ft steel narrow boat (Ermenilda) purchased from Canal Cruising Company at Stone back in 1982! She was moored at the fruit farm Little Haywood by the bridge, then moved to beside the Plum Pudding pub at Armitage - BOG TOWN - ha ha.... If you are still near Rugeley you can visit the grave of Christina Collins where she still haunts St. Augustine's churchyard, Christina was murdered on the Bloody Steps beside the River Trent aqueduct by three drunken boatmen as she was making her way to London in 1837. The Rugeley Poisoner Dr. Palmer is said to haunt locations in the town where he committed his terrible crimes. Since 2005 I moved to Yorkshire and particularly miss the canals of the midlands, and so many memories! There are alas no canals around Scarborough, the Leeds Liverpool and the Aire and Caulder probably the nearest with a short stretch of canal at Driffield near The Wolds. Now I'm feeling very nostalgic indeed but it is great to see much of the area has not lost its charm and you two kind soul mates sharing your enchanting Narrow Boat tales with the rest of us. Please take care of yourselves and the felines xx Jayne Anne xx P>S Shugborough Hall is worth a visit from Great Hayward easy but busy moorings for pubs The Clifford Arms and Lamb and Flag and Red Lion .... I believe they serve coffee these days.... xx

The fruit is a good idea, but I always get jealous

I'm from USA and I have seen all your videos and I love them all love your paintings too 🙋♀️😁🗽

Happy to help
Matching ponytails, very fetching and summery, carry on...💕
Thank you so much for the tour of Tesco’s. Could you explain the bank/system of scanners? Does the store not have check-out grocery clerks? I’ve never seen anything like it. The scanners tally the shopping then you load the scanner into the till at the end and then we payed on an app.
Love, love the Tesco tour. The way you were able to check out was marvelous. We don't have anything close to that in US..
Yay -- I didn't ask for Tesco, but I was just thinking that would be interesting. I loved M and S food court when I was last in the UK. Thanks for the vlog - lovely scenery from a lovely couple. Beautiful paintings!!!!!
If we have the back pack and a bit of a walk we do leave the packaging behind. But in this case the Tesco was so close we unpacked on the boat.
Ladies, rely nice to view you cruising , in matching attire, well smart. Cheers
We agree!
Your sacked girl's you nearly made the dreaded Tesco's look an exciting place to visit! You should suggest to them that they turn the car-park into a marina lol, carry on with your great life style, O bye the way the Kingfisher fantastic

It was neat seeing you shop, strange I know, but I am in Nebraska USA so I thought it was neat!
awe poor munchy is upset because you haven't got the cat food, also one of our cats called Simba checks the shopping trolley when my wife comes home from shopping for their food or treats and once he finds the treat sticks he takes them out of the trolley and runs off with them, but if he gets hold of a bag of treat biscuits he'll grab a bag run off upstairs and into one of the bedrooms where he'll rip it open and help himself, I know we shouldn't laugh at him for doing it but he's so funny at doing it as he's so sneaky when he gets them, he'd make a good cat burglar(excuse the pun)
By the way, I loved your painting of the kingfisher. You are very talented.
Thank you
Nice post thank you ... will you ladies be painting your new boat your old one looked not nice.
Nana trolley = Granny cart (in other places). Thanks for showing us Tescos - quite interesting. Glad you went back to get kitty food.😘
Granny cart lol
Hakenporsche (ankle Porsche) in Germany
Hi, the Marmite reminds me of the Vegemite Down Under - There's a Woolworth's in nearly every town. Big but mostly not outside the town. Even the payment system reminds me of our two voyages to AUS and NZ (we are from Germany) besides you scan everything at the end. It was too short to compare prices with our supermarkets, but the fruit seems a bit more expensive.
Enjoyed the shopping trip. Missed Alice, where was she?
She was just sleeping.
Please take care of yourselves and the felines xx Jayne Anne xx
P>S Shugborough Hall is worth a visit from Great Hayward easy but busy moorings for pubs The Clifford Arms and Lamb and Flag and Red Lion .... I believe they serve coffee these days.... xx
All cats are safe. I'm a worrier also. Unfortunately you all would be the first to know if anything happened.
@@TheNarrowboatExperience Love and best wishes to you all, both two and four legs on your travels. Jayne
Ooo been living in the USA for 18+ years and I SO miss Tesco ! the supermarkets here fail BIG TIME in comparison to the UK
