Another great Four Way Challenge. By coincidence my wife has just asked me to make some decorations to hang on the Christmas tree next year. I will not make chess pieces but the techniques you have demonstrated will be the same that I will need for my project. Thank you.
Nice job! So many chess design options available. Like you say, your design is clearly recognizable as a Staunton style overall with a clean, modern look. Only 26 more to do, Tomi.
Happy 2024! That's a nice smooth set. Very well done for the first one you've ever tried, I'd say. The knight reminds me of some prehistoric ways horses were depicted, very minimalistic. Liked the improvised spindle sander. Thanks for another instructive and entertaining video.
Interesting take on the shapes; this would make a pretty neat looking chess set. The shape of the knight is kind of cool; it grows on one as you look at it. All of the pieces definitely give one the information needed to know what they are. Now off to watch the other 3 videos.
Excellent job. Really enjoyed the entire video, especially the part about making lunch for the kids! I liked the simple form and how a small undercut at the bottom really steps it up. Knight turned out very good. I just discovered you through the 4-way and enjoying your other videos.
Very well done Tomislav. Nice interpretation of the classic pieces. Especially the Knight. All four of you have produced outstanding pieces. Happy New Year. May 2024 be good to all of you.🙂🙂
Nice modern design take on the classic pieces. I like it, nice work! A great way to approach doing a chess set by prototyping the new designs. Thank you and happy new year!
Thanks for a great demonstration of how important the skew is! I love your design and proportions. To begin each piece, what was the diameter of the base to begin with?
Wow Tomi, those look great 😁 and it was your first time doing it so they will only get better. Some of your entry cuts with the skew looked as if you were starting from fresh air with no bevel!!.... youre handy with the tools 😁 To my eye, the Knight needs a little more...... maybe a notch taken out of the "back". All other pieces have a taper and look nearly delicate, whereas the Knight looks kinda "chunky" compared to the rest. The "castle" is called a Rook (spoken as "ruk")...... you speak more than one language, so dont worry about using the wrong name 😁 I like the modern look of the pieces, if i ever make a set they will be similar. Thanks Tomi
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning It was your first go at it........ could you imagine the state of the pieces if a "normal" person turned em as a first go 😂😂 You're not "normal", you have skills us mere mortals don't possess 😁
You can also draw out your blanks and a template cut out on a bandsaw or jigsaw. Easyer to size your pieces and shape with a flat template. Also constant with many pieces. Thanks again for sharing. 👍
Tomislav bonjour. J'aime cette forme pour les pièces de bois ,cela donne envie de reproduire .Ce sera pour moi dans le futur ,étant débutant...en tout cas cela fait rêver . Merci pour cette démonstration et bonne année 2024.👍
Great project. The kind of project that requires planning and discipline to complete a whole set. The Steinert products look interesting however they don’t appear to have a North American distributor.
Your skew work is so delicate; seems effortless! Just beautiful. Thanks again!
Thank you very much

Awsome to hear that, thank you for support what we do as 4 ways
The horse doesn’t feel very well 😂😂😂 brilliant idea with the spindle sander thanks Tomislav
Just found the chess board I made at school 50 years ago. I should really make the pieces for it, but I don't want to be too hasty.
Nice. I think the Knight is actually a great shape, it invites the hand to pick it up.
Thank you, it does grown on you😀

Thanks Mike, maybe next year I'll finish the set😂
Interesting set - a combination of Dubrovnik and Berhaus...
Thank you for sharing Tomislav. Four completely different approaches by Masters of the craft.
Thank you very much
I'm glad you showed your experimentation and challenges. I'm wanting to make chess pieces to go with the chess board I've made. This is very helpful !
Great idea with your homemade spindle sander!

Thank you, we all made something unique this time😅
Really nice looking set.
Don't change the shape of the knight. Very unique
Beautiful work 😍😍
Very nice Tomislav! Simple but very stylish!
Take care, Dave

If I remember it was around 22-23mm

Thanks buddy, they are not my best work but I can live with those, especially knight and I do agree, its chucky fat horse😂

Thank you, They don't have distributor but I do believe they ship worldwide
Great job at turning a chess set Tomislav.
Great video. Happy New Year.
I’m going to Dubrovnik in July
Awsome, hope you like it there....🤗
Lie the simple but modern design.
