Nice honest video . I like that you told everyone about how everything got burned the first night and why that happened good job . Everything looked very good thank you for sharing. I know i have definitely leaned something. I just bought a pie iron and haven't used it yet . Now i will have more confidence. Thanks again .
the keg is a fire fighter game. When fire departments have get togethers a team is on each side of the keg and shoot water at the keg trying to push it to the other teams side. Lots of fun to watch even better to do it. One rule though at least when I was on a department is you can't shoot the water stream directly at the other team.
I know this is way past the time that you did this video and please don't take this wrong.. but I really appreciate the fact that you are just like all of us who are using something for the first time when they are camping. awesome job. maybe I'll take my pie irons out of my garage and actually use them for once
You did a great job on the food it looks sooo good. I think I'll buy a pie iron and give it a try myself. One thing I did see which needs some help and this is not meant to be a beat down. just some advise. I feel it would be good to put some foil or parchment paper on the table before opening the iron, it leaves the table cleaner for others and also doesn't attract bugs, dogs, raccoons or anything else that smells the oil on the table. Keep on camp'n and cook'n
Thanks for watching! You're right, we needed a better spot for managing the pie iron! For our next outing, we solved this issue and bought some silicone hot pads for the pie iron to rest on between cooks. And we cleaned this picnic table well before we left!
The waffles are one of our faves! We started adding chocolate and marshmallows to the middle for a s'mores-like dessert and that's been a huge hit! The bread is easier and less error prone; but experimenting with dough is fun for when you have a little more time and patience!
Oh thank you so much! I wasn't a camper until we bought the trailer (which, we did on a whim and I was very scared I made a bad decision! Ha!) Having a little cottage on wheels makes it feel less like camping and more like living temporarily in nature with all the comforts of home. :)
I've been camping for decades and pie irons were a blind spot for me. Just this year I bought two irons and love using them. I haven't thought of using them for breakfast. I'm thinking about it now. Your ideas are thoughtful and look delicious. Thanks for posting. BTW we also tote around our T@B with our Tacoma.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! Love to meet fellow T@bbers. We didn't get out much this year and I'm missing the pie iron donut biscuits!!! :)
Thank you so much for this video. Granted you posted this 2 years ago but girl I didn't even know they made these and my husband and I started doing family camping trips 3 years ago. This would be a total game changer to breakfast and dinner time. They have these at my job and I didn't know how to use them. I found your video and it literally filled me in on everything I needed to know and gave me some pretty cool ideas for recipes as well!! Thank you so much!!
Oh, I hope you have so much fun cooking with a pie iron! There's so many directions to go. We started doing a s'mores waffle where we sandwich chocolate and marshmallows between waffles. So good!
@@Mama_Toby We can sometimes find some Belgian style waffles in the frozen section which are thicker and they thaw in the cooler but that's no biggie. But even the normal Eggos are good!
Helpful video. Guessing the monkey bread and the crescent roll pizza was your favorite... Curious if you had any problems with the pie iron rusting after use. Just hand wash i assume. Thanks again
Fun stuff! Good recipes! I wonder why they must can’t seem to make a pie iron that actually fits a standard slice of bread? Dang! Wondering what the spray is that you use? Is it butter? Or oil? I sent you a BIG like and a “YouBoat.” 😉
Ha! Good point about the bread, but maybe crimping the edges gives a good seal for paninis?! We were just using cooking spray which I think is basically just canola oil (from Costco!)
@@CookwithKerry ~ thanks for letting me know about the canola oil. If you’re wondering what the “YouBoat” meant…..just think about another name for that during WW2. Just don’t want the bots to clue in. 😉
Just use white bread and save yourself a lot of hassle and needing a lot of groceries. You can get a better feel of when they are done, consistently. Broccoli and cheese works well.

Great content! I'm having a try with mine soon. Thanks!

It really makes good Apple pies and cherry pies

Oh my gosh, thanks for this comment! We never figured it out. Sounds like a fun game!

Yes! Take them out and experiment! It was just a little learning curve.

Nice variety. I was torn about raw dough or bread, & now I have an option even for waffles. Great ideas!! Thank you!! Happy camping!!

Just bought pie irons so I’m deep diving videos! Love yours and that little camper! Makes me want to go camping and I’m not a camper.

Thanks, Kerry! I have been wanting to use one of these for a while. This was the perfect video for me.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Pie iron cooking was a highlight of our camping season last year and I can't wait to experiment with it more!
My daughter got me one of these, I was like, what da heck is this thing. Ty for this vid! Can’t wait to try the dang thing out now!!
I love your caravan.
Thanks! I get such a kick out of you two!👍🏼❤️Nice video
Thanks for the video. You answered a lot of the questions I had about cooking with pie irons.
This is a Fantastic video! Thanks for showing us all the neat meals that can be made with the Pie iron.
So happy it was helpful!
@@CookwithKerry It really was and you can really cook! I am very glad I came across your video.

Thank you for making this video. I was debating getting one of these and after watching this i def am. Thank you again.
It was so fun to make this video. And this is just a fun way to cook creatively while camping!
Really enjoyed this video. If it ever cools off in Texas I’ll be trying out my pie iron using your ideas. Thanks for the video.
Some fall/winter pie ironing sounds like a great plan!
Extra point……. It’s good!!!!!
Try on butane and propane stove as comparison.

Outstanding video- subscribed- those pie irons are a lot of fun
Thank you so much for subscribing. Pie irons are my new summer obsession! :)
I am going to do a pizza 🍕 one today

Totally fair point! But, on the other hand, it's really fun to experiment! :) I love the idea of broccoli and cheese though. Thanks!
Aussie's call them a jaffle iron put butter on outside of bread inside eggs bacon an cheese close up an cook
I’m worried about the burned table
You could tell from the very beginning of the video that dude bro really wanted to be in it….😂
Ha! He was having fun in this video! I promise.
Good ideas but what a mess of the table.
Yes. We realized this was messy. We were sure to clean the table very well before we left.
Always use bread. Put one third that much in it.
Bread is definitely the easiest, but I really have fun experimenting with other things, too!
