Dom, if I say this once, I will say it a thousand times. Your videos are the absolute BEST! There is always something that I get out of them, that I would never have thought about which saves me countless hours. You are the best man! Cannot thank you enough for the pro tips!
The full Media Bay (F5) allows me to multi-select a bunch of samples/loops and set their pitch all together if it's not set (at its right side). This happens with my wavs, some (old) ACID loops and the wav output of other loop libraries (Ueberschall) and it's easy with construction kits since they are at the same pitch and you know it. At the start of a project (=before importing loops) I visualize and set the project pitch and insert the transpose track. When all loops are pitch-tagged properly, the small media bay in the Right Zone that you explore in this video will also transpose to project pitch correctly, not only bpm and time-sync. This is highly regarded, since it happens before importing into the project, hence it's fast and you may try many loops until you find one that fits. We can do anything with a project (for instance in the pool) but it would be too late. The next step forward for Cubase 12 would be setting a project scale and having scale adaptation in the media bay, not only transposition (some does it..).
@@DreamsongsProductions make sure project root key is set, then on the media bay settings on the right side screen on bottom near play stop set it to transpose.
I have a third screen just for media bay always open. It is the best content management system out of any daw or third party apps. I only wish it would read normal plug in presets as bitwig does. Maybe in the future.

Great video! You just saved me so much time. I didn’t realize that you could create a sampler track so easily and I was dropping samples on my track and transposing individual segments. Thank you for showing such useful tips!
Glad you covered this topic! I REALLY wish Cubase would allow us to create and name different instances of Kontakt in the Media Bay Tab's VST Instruments according to the library that we've loaded inside of it. It looks like we can only have 1 icon of Kontakt and 1 icon of Komplete Kontrol, correct?
You can do that! If you open kontakt, open the library you use frequently and then in the top just hit save preset, name it and then you can find it in the media bay :) just search for the name you gave to the preset. This is actually big time saver for me I actually discovered yesterday :D What you were describing is in the VSTi tab, but the process I am describing works in media tab. It's not exactly what you are looking for, but basically is. Hope that helps :)
Sure I am going to use Media Bay. There are some functions that I really did not know. Thanks Dom. And thanks also for your good pronunciation in the videos, that ease a lot for non english audience (as myself). Boom...💥
hey man...great videos!!! One question tho....how on earth am I supposed to collapse all folders in mediabay at once??? is there a modifier key or shortcut command or sth for that? ithis is so needed especially when u have like almost 20 subfolders in ur sample library folder or such. i thought right clicking and presssing refresh views should do the job but no...that only like refreshes the result page. I need something that collapses all opened folders in the file browser with one click...any help is appreciated!!!! :
Hey, Dom, I use Media Bay…do I get a t-shirt?! 🤣 Seriously, a really useful video, mate (and as entertaining as ever!). The ‘audition in context’ functionality for loops and samples was a revelation - I’ll be using that in the future!💥
Hi Dom. Wonderful video as usual. What did you do to get the 4 to 5 choices after you click on the sound that you were auditioning in the media bay. I notice that when you clicked on a sound that you might have liked, you clicked on something else that made you have about 4 or 5 other choices to do with the sound that you just chosed. I have no idea for how you did that and I would like to know you did to give you those other options you could pick from before you actually put your sound you picked into you project. I sure hope that I explained myself well enough for you to tell me what I wanted to learn from you.
I got a dumbly nice idea for the samples. What if they would make it like in Guitar Rig 6, that you have different colored stars for the Ratings, and you can give every colour a genre or category so if you make a house track you can filter for blue stars for example and it only shows kicks that are for house tracks?
I use media bay on every project, but I’ve yet to have found a way to import my own samples because the search function in media bay often doesn’t find my own samples of, for example, drum hits that I’ve recorded.
Hmmm have you tried importing them in the “big” version of media bay (hit F5 on your keyboard)? Just tick the folder where your samples are and make sure you scan it. Your samples should be searchable. :)
If anyone out there can help, pls do. Is there a way of auditioning loops in MediaBay at halftime or double time? This would be much more convenient, rather than dropping the loop into the project then time-stretching it.
Hi Dom, great video and learned again something. Question how to sync Media-Bay ratings between 2 PC? I use Cubase 14 with Notebook for travel and PC at home. For file access paths, I made sure to use the same drive letters and folder structure on both systems. But can you sync the rating?
could you make a video on the supervision in Cubase where you go into more detail on how to read all the analyzers and how to analyze what they are telling you if you know what I mean… I know you have made a video where you show what it can do, but I struggle with understanding what it tells me
can you layer different samples in sample track? I wish I could have different velocities for diferent samples and a way to rrobin or maybe randomize wich sample plays, and also have keyboard zones, as I do in Kontakt... I would rather use some stock sampler track or whatever could be there as an option
Thank's Dom ! But I remember losing my tags when I upgraded version of Cubase in the past. Maybe that's ok now. I hope so because it's a powerfull tool to manage more and more sounds
Tags have remained for me for ages! But sometimes you might lose your preferences. There’s a Mediabay file in your preferences called Mediabay.db - make sure you back it up like all your preferences and whatever happens, you will never lose your tags again unless you completely change your hard drive structure :)
@@DomSigalas Thank's a lot Dom. Indeed, the hard drive structure is so important to figure before installing all VST and libraries. My structure (almost data architecture) is way better now than a couple years ago. Like all information's systems, one of the the most important things is the hability to find what you're looking for in less time than possible. Faster workflow equal better creatvity.
I only discovered the full scope of what it can do a few years ago.......HUGE revelation!. Changed my production process completely, and for the better! ;:-) There's just one big problem I've had with it. When importing a loop that is at a different sample rate from my session........ when auditioning in media bay it plays back perfectly, but after dragging it in to the session it either plays at the wrong speed or pitch. I've tried fixing that in the audio pool by converting the loop to the session sample rate. That solves the pitch problem, but not the tempo issue???. Is there a preference setting I'm missing??
Thanks for this video! Can you please give some advises how to adjust/set the tempo manually for of a loop? I bought some drum loops from a company . All play well outside Cubase.. When I try to drag and drop some of the loops in a Cubase (10 or 11) project - even with a project bpm that perfectly matches the bpm of the loop, it plays in half time or very fast. In other words, Cubase seems not to be able to align the loop time to the project time, (I have the "musical" - function turned on). I guess this might be a matter of decoding in Cubase. I have tried to fix the problem in the Media Bay, so far without success.
"I prefer to drag over double click" - old fear of everything crashing in case I double click on an instrument lol. Well, how long ago was that Musikmasse? Since media bay as a part of work layout is available from what, Cubase...8? Right? or Was it 7? For sure it wasn't a part of configurable window settings in 5 or 6. Point I am making, I started using media bay gradually as it was mostly "where my recordings are" tab (audio pool zone on older versions).
Realized, after watching this video, Media Bay is a good thing :) Super useful and will improve my workflow ! Question: In Media Bay, is it possible to delete/uninstall stuff you don't want ? For example, I'd like to remove permanently all Groove Agent SE files. I'm using GA5 full version, those SE are only in the way and annoying me. Thanks !
MediaBay is amazing. But I wonder, why can't I play MediaBay sound through Phones, when Control Room is set on. I'm not a beginner with Cubase... Any ideas, Dom. Thx in advance
Mediabay needs an update in terms of the preview. There should be an easy channel routing for it, and it should have something like a quick harmony-changer. I mean plugins like Pitchmap are like 7 years old and it works reaaaally well. Don't you think?
I agree, there could be improvements- I would personally like to see the samples being immediately triggered and playable through a midi channel- so you can switch kick drums on the fly. But it’s possible through GrooveAgent so it’s not a massive issue :)
Hi Dom, i would love to use media bay as i have never had a good look at it? And the reason for this is, as you show in the video when you click on a sample or loop etc in the media bay, you can preview the thing that you have chosen to audition the sound BUT I have no preview sound at all on anything in the media bay? I have no idea why this is, i have not been able to find an answer to this so that i can preview sounds etc in the media bay? If you could answer and solve my problem, then that would be great and very much appreciated!!!!! Thanks for sharing this video by the way!!!! Really great as always.
You need to setup your control room to do this! It’s dead easy- check my video about A/B referencing or my control room video I explain exactly how to set it up there :)
You mean in the Sampler Track? You can easily change this behaviour. Sampler track defaults to the ADSR which means that you can play a sample for as long as you hold down the key. If you switch to one shot the entire sample is going to play no matter for how long you hold the key. Not very useful for loops or longer samples. Groove Agent SE has the one-shot behaviour by default as it’s a dedicated drum machine :)
Dom - I noticed that the ratings in the individual VSTs (GA, Halion, Retrologue, Prologiue...) don't seem to have any relation to Media Bay Ratings? Is there a way to sync one to the other. I have set most of my ratings in the individual VSTs and I'd like those ratings to be present in Media Bay.
I’ve got some questions about media bay Like pro drum bundles and pro percussion bunds , are not free even I bought Cubase 14 pro ? If I want to use ,I have to buy them as expansions pack? Thanks
So, I have my "Loops & Samples" folder inside the Media Bay. But how do I add my own samples? Which folder to put them in? Cubase will not recognise my samples! Thanks for any help! Edit: OK, so I found out File Browser does not recognise or play any audio files. Only when you add the folder to Favourites first, then go back into "Loops & Samples" does it recognise the audio files. Very convoluted, geez!
Dom very useful this is quite amazing. although there are some musician whom would say this does not make you a musician and are against something like this. I however find it to me great! thank you What other Libraries do you have? I would love to get a hold of your work
Hey Dom. Thanks once again for your amazing work! Enjoy your videos and answers! Btw. I have another question and really hope that you will have some minutes to give me the answer. What is a good controller for Cubase? I love cc121, but it's not possible to purchase it in Russia :( I have Push2 but of course it's amazing for Ableton and doesn't work in Cubase.. Hope for your answer!. Respect!
Aaaah sure! Here are some suggestions: Console1 fader Console1 (if you want an SSL strip on every channel ) QCon Pro (the black one) if you don’t care about the Mackie Control issue with banks not switching automatically SSL UF-8 : really nice but suffers from the Mackie Control issue. If you want more faders the Presonus 16 fader one is a good choice!
@@DomSigalas I was found cc121 in the German web. Seems that I can buy it. And btw SSL UF8 looks so magic. Of course the price for this is much higher, but seems that it's simple amazing with Cubase and got more options like pre gain, channel strip etc

Instant Like as always :)
Thx in advance
why hello there, I am good, thanks Dom, lol, been enjoying been trained by Jedi Cubase master!! getting there! :)
"Am I missing something?" - yes, a free t shirt by the sounds of it!
But it’s possible through GrooveAgent so it’s not a massive issue :)
wat when it disapeers from the right hand side. all the cuebase loops and packs. gone, ive got a spinning cube and im on a mac.

Hey Dom
Can you provide the link for that video?
Thanks 👍
Amazing 🤩
Great video, thank you! :)
PLS IN MY MEDIABAY , I GET NO SOUND WHEN I CLICK ON ANY SAMPLE ... PLS HOW CAN THAT BE FIX
Where do I find other signature timed loops like a 3/4,6/8,7/4,7/8 etc all seem to be in only common time unless I physically create my own 😭
i am usig cubas e 11
Hi can you explain the difference between (one shot )in cubase sample edtor and fl studio (cut itself ) thank you
You mean in the Sampler Track? You can easily change this behaviour. Sampler track defaults to the ADSR which means that you can play a sample for as long as you hold down the key. If you switch to one shot the entire sample is going to play no matter for how long you hold the key. Not very useful for loops or longer samples. Groove Agent SE has the one-shot behaviour by default as it’s a dedicated drum machine :)
@@DomSigalas thanks
Mr dom a quick one how do you make your metronome works with your media at the same time cos i have been trying to hear both sound at the same time
I cannot see any attributes, so spent ages on a rescan, but still no luck. Cannot find any help on this problem.
Please do some psp audioware plugins video
Dom - I noticed that the ratings in the individual VSTs (GA, Halion, Retrologue, Prologiue...) don't seem to have any relation to Media Bay Ratings? Is there a way to sync one to the other. I have set most of my ratings in the individual VSTs and I'd like those ratings to be present in Media Bay.
great video!
I’ve got some questions about media bay
Like pro drum bundles and pro percussion bunds , are not free even I bought Cubase 14 pro ?
I however find it to me great! thank you
What other Libraries do you have? I would love to get a hold of your work
Hey Dom. Thanks once again for your amazing work! Enjoy your videos and answers! Btw. I have another question and really hope that you will have some minutes to give me the answer. What is a good controller for Cubase? I love cc121, but it's not possible to purchase it in Russia :( I have Push2 but of course it's amazing for Ableton and doesn't work in Cubase.. Hope for your answer!. Respect!
Aaaah sure! Here are some suggestions:
Console1 fader
Console1 (if you want an SSL strip on every channel )
QCon Pro (the black one) if you don’t care about the Mackie Control issue with banks not switching automatically
SSL UF-8 : really nice but suffers from the Mackie Control issue.
