Hello, i hav had the same situation with the oil leak on the pump. I opened like you and just put a new seal on it. I found some at ebay in germany. it is lasercut and workt fine until 1 year. a new pump is quite expensive. but the seal have to be as thin as possible. you have seen the original yellow one was like 1/10 mm. little more isnt bad but not to much.
Hey Hans. Thank you for the info. I ended up ordering a new complete pump as the old one was getting pretty old. 19 years so thought it was best to replace it. I checked around and it looks like the gasket that was used was the correct one with the yellow stuff in the middle. Probably the pressure must have been super high when we were out in the deep snow. 😁👍
Hey McCoy, I ordered a new pump, as it was 19 years old and I did not want to have to do the job again. I think it would have gone fine changing out the seal but I turned the pump up side down after opening it, not in this video, and all the bearing rollers fell out. 😅 I think it's good to repair old parts and more of us should do that. It's also feels a lot better when you can fix old thing.s Thanks for watching, from all the way in South Korea. I just find that really cool, here I'm sitting in Norway in the snow. Best, Simon
Thanks man, 99% recovered now so time to get things rolling again. 🙂👍 Starting editng refit videos today after responding to all comments. Thanks btw. for all the comments. Keeps me motivated. 👍
Yeah, that's true. But you need some arm strength to manage. 🙂 My brothers power steering went out while he was driving and he almost went off the road before he could get it to turn enough. I guess he also got a bit shocked and it then feels like it's locked up. Luckily it went okay. 👍🙂
@@overnighter Hehehe, never is. 🙂 Rolling turn is in my muscle memory as with studded winter tires it's a must or you loose all the studs really quickly. :)
Looked like the seal has just disintigrated and eventually gotten blown out at the weakest point. Not sure but that's my theory. 🙂

Hello! but with what did you remove the back part that did not allow the pump to open!? Why did you cut and it was already open?
Do you replace parts with repair kits? Do you replace all parts(pump)? In South Korea, we replace d2 td5 with a repair kit and ride well.

Hello my friend! Why not just change the entire pump? How do you?
Hey hey, yeah I ended up ordering a completely new pump so I didn’t have to think about it in the near future. 👍😁 Will be videos every night. 😉

Best thing about power steering is that you are still able steer somehow (unlike fully electric steering), even if it's broken 🙄

@@LandRoverDrive as you might have realised, the key is always rolling the vehicle, rather than steering in a static position. That's easier on arms
@@LandRoverDrive and bigger arms arent that bad IMHO 🤣
