I can remember watching this the first time it was shown on BBC1 in 1971, as a 7 year old. It was shown right through the 1970's almost every summer holidays. Golden memories, along with other programmes such as 'The White Horses' and the original 'Belle and Sebastian', 'Noggin the Nog', etc. Now in my 57th year, I still love the intro to this show!

This was great. Born 62 and me and my brothers would all stab away at each other with sticks to the intro. I remember a character called Don Alonzo who was always playing chess, the baddies were pointlessly besieging a castle but the hero’s came and went as if they weren’t there. Knew it was dubbed but your brain tunes that out and we were enthralled watching something incomprehensible with the BEST theme tune. Great memories thanks for posting.

We loved this particularly the music too and the song at the start as children in the 1960s. I just found my sister's 1979 letter where she had seen it on TV after many years and recorded the music as it was so important to us even then. These days things are free on youtube - we are very lucky. Today 2022 looking to the part beyond the music at the end reminds me of the awful Russian invasion of Ukraine how in 2022 as well as in the 1600s featured invaders still destroy pointlessly.

One of the great Flashing Blade unanswered questions is how Casal could be bombarded by the Spanish remorselessly for 20 episodes and yet still didn’t become a pile of ruins. 😅

Going to the shop to get my comets in the paper shop then watching this or treasure in Malta or G force cartoon in swap shop ,or wait till your father gets home with that , brilliant theme tune .man in a suitcase before world of sports or grandstand what can you say , children programme was more educational and presenters where like superstars and you knew there names

Now this song is credited to Alex Masters and The Musketeers.
Is it an English version of the French original or is it something completely different written for the UK broadcast?
