Always trying to have fun when I ask people to come join me on the channel, and I think in many countries around the world "Mahfood" means fun! (*I have no facts to back that up)
Nice to hear these intimate and smart discussions about creating comics. Loving comics is one of the few things that hasn't been totally ruined by the internet.
Fantastic interview! Jim is such a humble artist. I really resonate with his method at 1:01:00; it's exactly how I approach my work. I often start with a 15-page idea but allow myself the flexibility to expand it by 4-5 more pages. In my current book, I added 14 additional pages because I felt they were essential for the story, the beats, and emotional impact.
Watching this, I might want to do a video spotlighting Columbus shops and probably expanding outside a little. Because the shops weirdly don’t do this or they can’t. Boost the signal. I got a green light to do something I’ve not seen before with a con’s TH-cam page.
Great content Dave, love Jim's old cool attitude here and finding a way to safely homage something he loves. Bizarrely it reminds me of what Joe Casey/Piotr Kowalski were doing with SEX. It's the Dark Knight-ish, but not. Checked out the Kickstarter, but I sadly missed the OA options 😥- do you know if Jim will make other pages available Before I leave, love that Sienkiewicz quote...
I think he may sell pages after the campaign and book are done, but the only other OA that's still available on the Kickstarter is the bookplates which are all hand drawn OA
If only all promotion was as entertaining and engaging as this!

Comic Tim arrived too late.
Comic Tim is a wizard who arrives precisely when he intends to...or when there's is Girl Scout cookies
