Hidden in a Belgian forest, we accidentally discovered a wonderful home which has been forgotten ever since it was left abandoned since 70 years already. This was a rather uncommon and rare find, nature being the only force which has been touching this house in the past decades. Decaying in time, all the belongings of the past occupants where still vacated on their original place. Family Devaux must have spend memorable times inside their home, while the man Joseph was a professor with a big passion for biology and science. Want to learn more about the house and the story of the former residents? Watch our episode and find out...

It’s amazing how you can go to Belgium and just come across something like this. In the US, the house would be ransacked, stripped for copper and completely trashed as soon as it was discovered abandoned.

    • @Explomo

Hi Kathrine, It is such a shame that some people are being so disrespectful to a property, only to gain or make profit of it for themselves. Belgium is, like you say, an amazing country to find places like this. Still, it is most definitely not easy to find them. So we were very surprised to find this house in such an untouched state. At least, only nature had touched it at some places ;-)
Anyway, thank you very much for watching and till next time! :D best, Maureno & Remon

I agree. The vandalism is almost non. USA would have trashed. The house is huge! Yep it looks like 70's stuff. Beautiful furniture. I saw purses, and wonder what is in them. It does make you wonder. What happened to the people who lived there? Glad you are wearing protective mask and gloves due to all the mold! Thanks for the video..

@@Explomo Yea but at least some of those treasures would have ended up in a collection or museum instead of turning to dust. A 300 year old chair inst exactly easy to find. sadly the place is to bad of shape to safely remove the antiques for safekeeping. there is a local guy of my area who sometimes buys old buildings that sat empty for ages. And if it were not for those actions the legacy and history would have vanished. Esp considering just in this video I saw enough treasures to cover whatever exorbitant price the landowner would ask. It is a thing to find and buy these old places, and make so much off the antiques that 80% of them are simply donated to local museums. However given the condition of that house Im not sure if it is even possible. That Mini is surrounded by collapsing walls, no way it's getting out intact

    • @raciyesui8292
      @raciyesui8292 4 ปีที่แล้ว

It is ransacked, that is why everything is on the floor. Most of these guys, before the video they already visited these homes, mansions. Also, they are scavengers. If you notice purses, boxes, drawers open, and checked.I don't blame them if they don't take it other scavengers have taken, I wish they are such the story of the house. Especially this one was a professor should't' be hard fine out..O like to know if they had a child.

The Disney Pocahontas book came out in 1995. However, the state of decay of the house would signal that no one was actually keeping the house up. Perhaps the family or someone else stayed there for a short while after the original couple died among all the remnants of Mr. Joseph's life.

I believe the estate 0:22 is from the early 1800's even though the furnishings are a mix of Victorian and as late as the 1970's..4:43 the great grandson of the elderly woman found in the passport. The passport 3:55 could have been his great grandmother who was born in 1839 and the great grandson lived in the home. 5:22 a cabinet card of the elderly woman when she was younger taken around 1860. 5:28 a photo of her grandson taken around 1920. The cabinet cards found in the drawer are from around 1840-1880 and are more than likely family members. Notice the dress with the puffy sleeves 6:25 indicative of 1880. Obviously, the owner cherished the photos even though the album was destroyed.

You missed a couple of calenders as well. There were too many items that were way to modern, especially the washing machine, which was newer than the fridge. Upstairs in the room you loved and as you were looking at papers that were of a war, there was one of the big desk calenders and the year was 1993. Like I said, I love your finds, but you guys just crack me up because most of the time your timeline is totally wrong.

THIS is why everyone should clear out what they have and donate it to a good cause before they die so others can enjoy these belongings, it doesn't make any sense to allow these items to be left to just rot and decay. The chair (1793) at 17:19 should be saved if nothing else can be saved this chair should be saved. Donate it to your local museum, but it doesn't deserve to be left to rot, it is a part of Belgium history.

70 years ago would be 1950 but I don’t think this house is from 1950, the appliances and decor make it look more like the late 60’s like those plastic beads in the doorway and the colors of the one room bright orange and purple. The picture of Mr. Robeau looks like it’s from the late 80’s and you passed by a modern television which was probably from the 80’s I think this house is covered with so much mold and decay because it is open to the elements, even the scrabble game was newer than the 50’s so I would say this house was deserted in the 80’s sometime it’s probably deserted 40 years at the top. But you guys did a great job and are looking great I’m glad you’re wearing the masks and gloves.definately that poster of the universe is not 70 years old and in one picture the girl is wearing a Garfield sweatshirt definitely not 70 years ago.

At 25:32 there is a 2012 calendar laying on the table. It feels like it has been abandoned longer than that but I think it was occupied up into the 1990s. That was a really modern washing machine and lots of modern toiletries and other products sitting around. Even the purses date it pretty recent. Clearly it has amazing antiques too and was probably occupied by the same family for a long time. I could cry at the historically valuable photos and amazing furniture left to rot.

And it makes it more enjoyable for the rest of us 2 I don't understand why it's so fascinating still wondering where did these people go what happened to them? Why they leave everything behind? I think you should try doing more research to find out more about the people who live there

Explomo thank you again, for touring this amazing home. Natural decay is awesome, but sad. Maybe the college, or medical school can deplay, with the family's permission of course, his notes and belongings to share his findings, and accomplishments with today's generation of future scientists and explorers.

The house was so diverse just like Mr. Devaux's interests! He seemed to have mementos from all over the world. The ship at 31:49 is sitting on a piece traditionally designed what is known as tapa or bark cloth. I saw a similar piece hanging on the wall at 26:28. My grandfather and great-aunt died from tuberculosis. It was very prevalent in the USA in the Ohio River Valley where I was raised. Great job on trying to sift through all the years of that man's marvelous life!

I really do not believe that house has been abondened that long. 70 years no way. There was a printer in the one rooms up stairs. Looks like one I had about 15 years ago. Its clearly abandoned but if you look closely you will see things that are not that old. That battery operated dancing santa is is clearly not 70 years old. LOL Nivia Hand lotion in the kitchen. Maybe some relatives may have taken it over for a time and then left it for some unknown reason. Heck there was a shop vac and a microwave in the kitchen. The family probably left do to its poor condition. Probably needed to be condemned. Even with that being said. It was a great find and thank you for sharing it with us. Be safe

Fantastic explore my friend, yes I would say this home was abandoned in the 1970s or 80s maybe even later with the euros money you found , but the natural decay was amazing the way nature was taking it back , some nice old furniture and painting were nice , shame the old mini car looked to far gone to repair. Thank you Remon and friend for your cool vid .

Great explore. There are many things, like the wall paper that make me think it was abandoned in or around the 1970's. I could be wrong, but that crazy wall paper alone looks like it came from 1960. At any rate i loved the home and explore. Always a fun time watching your channel. Hi Maureno and friend, Explomo, Another very interesting explore. great! - That professor was certainly doing a lot of scientific research,
according to the items you were showing. - On one of his bigger sheets he was reflecting over osmotic reactions maybe in conjunction
with renal functions, as I presume. - By the way I loved listening to your comments about medical subjects, or when you were looking
at the X-ray. - I can really feel, that you are strongly interested and highly dedicated in your medical studies. - So once again wishing you
all the necessary luck and force to succeed in this field of studies. - Thank you for the amazing explore in that house. - Of course
it was sad to see how heavily everything there is continuously decaying away. - I hope you are well. - Greetings also to Remon, peace
and lots of blessings. - Kindest regards.

Hi there amazing Willy, it is always such a pleasure eading your comment under a new video. You are completely right, one of the sheets presented information concerning the volumetric osmotic regulation of the human body fluids by the kidneys. I would have loved to explain this sheet as well, but do not want the videos to be too long. Thank you very much for your luck. We both are well. Take care and kindest blessings to our amazing Swiss fan! :-)

@@Explomo , Hi again, It's my greatest pleasure, and you are very welcome. - Actually I myself was surprised too, that I still
recognized that apparently in a correct way, because so very many years have passed since I studied exactly these subjects.
Therefore thank you also so much for confirming my observations. I really appreciate a lot, and your kind feedback made my day!
I am already waiting with excitement for your next exploring adventure. - Kindest regards.
      - - One extra request: May I draw your attention to my main comment of your "Disney" castle explore from the 16.10.2019.
      - There I have some probably very interesting information for you. Your opinion would interest me a lot. -
