    There's a new version of this out now with a derailleur hanger, internal dropper routing and 4 bolt stem

    • @dixieracer00
      @dixieracer00 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have the new version, the new stem is also Aluminum, and the front chain ring is a 32, I do wish they had put a free Hub on it the gearing is a bit wonky for me, but over all Ive been really happy with it, grant it Im riding easy trails and not extreme down hill.

    It's like a 2009 Walmart bike from an alternate universe where big box retail bikes were actually good back then.

    Hi guys we want to remember that most people who buy Walmart bikes are not jumping off cliffs and committing suicide they are riding around town so the wear and tear is minimal of course if they are going to become more professional they go to a bike shop. No Walmart bikes are certainly not the best bike and you guys are talking about high-end bikes and comparing them to Walmart bikes you just can not do that and we readers know that. I feel a very big reason which you are not talking about here why they do not hold up which should be mentioned is maintenance by inexperienced bike riders and the importance of that. for example, they leave the bike out in the rain do not oil the chain or grease hear some strange noise and just keep riding there are loose things happening they tighten nothing so if this happened to your high-end bike it would fall apart too. Also, any bike or machine is not made to last jumping on rocks or stumps and bumping into trees and falling in holes your high-end bikes spend more time in the bike shop being fixed and adjusted and that costs big bucks today so stay away from Walmart bikes and stay in your bike shop which is going out of business at an alarming pace because the cost is too high we a just working people with only a Walmart budget and their bikes fit us well we get a 90-day full return policy and a two-year cheap warranty policy so for cheap we are all set bike shops do not of this so if a Walmart bike breaks down just take it back get your money back or another bike that's pretty good oh yes the four-year-old Walmart bike i bought for 200 dollars four years ago is doing just fine you guys take care now

    So I went and bought this bike after watching this video...except I have the 2nd Gen version with the interchangeable derailleur setup.I've ridden it for a bit now...few black diamond trails...downhills...jump Tracks. Shes a heavy bike but fun. The welds are trash in places. The tires are ok but they get eat up quick. Also the crank is weak...she starts creaking after.a few trails. I love the bike overall...she performs great for her intended use. Plus it's upgradeable which I'm doing soon. Great video brotha.

    I love your no s**t takes on bikes. Spot on! I think this is actually a decent bike but a poor mtb, between the old school geometry, stem set, freewheel & the derailleur hanger. It could be a decent or even good commuter or a gravel bike.

    The issue with a 27.2 seatpost is the availability of a dropper post. Not too many made in that diameter or they're a short drop

    • @dylan-5287
      @dylan-5287 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. My first hardtail was 27.2 and got stuck with a 100mm dropper when a 150mm easily could have fit.

    • @andrewince8824
      @andrewince8824 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      105mm at best with the very good, maybe best on the market, Brand X Ascend 2 unless you want to drop £160 on a PNW Rainier, that one gives you a colossal 125mm.

    They keep getting so close! But the integrated derailleur hanger is a deal-killer, one crash could junk the whole thing. Until freehubs become the norm on big box bikes I think a lot of people are better off getting the base model Rockhopper or Trek Marlin if they're looking to upgrade. After you add in the cost of a wheelset you're at the same cost or more and you get sized frames and the same geometry of the more expensive models.

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  ปีที่แล้ว

      So close indeed! Sadly, even the base model Trek Marlin has a freewheel 😒. People need to demand more from these companies/manufacturers.

    Bought this (updated) bike last month at Murrieta Walmart... black brakes (instead of yellow)... came with kickstand... dumped those cheapo plastic pedals and got some thin aluminums... that's a MUST. Been on 3 flowy trail rides... great bike for small jumps, berms and rollers on flowy trails and pump tracks... but stay outta the rock garden technical trails... NO single or double diamonds.

    • @lancecryor

    JMHO, as a 40+ year veteran of the bicycle business. The good: sized frames, a name brand fork, sealed bearing headset. The bad: just about everything else. The spec's are all over the place, mostly erring on the cheap and not cheerful. WHY presta valves on a budget bike?
    For $300, Walmart must make a HUGE margin on it. I also think that for just $80 more, you could order a Gravity HD from BikesDirect that has a Shimano drivetrain, Tektro hydro brakes, QR front and rear with a cassette rear hub, etc.

    They would have made a killing with these if they had them during the pandemic lockdown, this looks like a dad bike for chasing their crotch goblins around the subdivision or cruising the camp ground. It does have the classic Ozark Trail look with the orange calipers. I might be wrong but that fork didn't come on the Axum I had, I got the original Axum when they first came out for a week and took it back.

    These type bikes are good for what they were designed for. You don't buy them to ride on medium to advanced trails or to compare to higher-end bikes. They will be fine for light trail and pavement riding. My son has one that we upgraded to quick-release hubs. He loves it and hasn't had any problems. He mainly uses it on pavement and light-duty trails. No jumps or tricks etc. Comparing Wal-Mart bikes to bikes that cost 600 or more is like comparing a Corolla to a Cadillac. But great video pointing out the differences between cheap and more expensive bikes.

    Put a 120mm fork on it. Run a bigger tire on the front. That'll slack that front end. And u can get a Falcon 8 speed 13 to 40 tooth. Yall have cranks and gears there. Plus real bars and stem. It'll be alright

      Timber nation , I agree with everything you said. Though the irreplaceable rear derailleur hanger makes this a bike you’d have to ride like a baby. You risk it and you be cutting and welding if that’s even possible. But hey for just “riding” and for a peculiar person , this bike would see many fun days just riding around with the kids.

    This is a "fancy looking" bike for a taller teenager to ride around parks, throw on the ground, not bother with maintenance, to put on the back of an RV when you visit the lakes, and look like your a "cyclist".
    Really odd having a tapered headtube. It's like someone (executive level?) with no clue put it all together like a jigsaw on a computer screen from a pool of wildly varied component levels, and sent it to production without professional input.

    This frame literally looks like a Kent Nazz (Kent's gravel bike) with a few internal routing holes and a tapered headtube welded on. Even components wise, both this and the Nazz have an identical freewheel, same brake calipers, and the same bolt-on axles. I'm convinced this is just a repurposed Nazz frame with some MTB flare to it.

      @@WOLFTICKVIDEOS that's the dynamics of this channel, the charm of the relationship! 👍 One of the reason people keeps coming back!
      Early XR PRO have the XCT with dual preload, no lockout. New XR PRO have a Zoom fork with one preload, and nothing on the other side. So this XCM 30 from the Vibe is a step down from the XCM on the trouvaille.
      I think this bike might gear towards gravel biking other than pave path. Usually that 40T chain and 34T in rear is gravel style. My gf's trek checkpoint with the shiamo GRX groupset is like that.

    got one for christmas to replace my old Huffy scout 26, been pretty good I usually use it for neighborhood rides but for some reason it keeps on making weird noises on the rear brake even while I’m not using it and some of the brake tubes change alignment and it can be very tedious mainly because I’m not very good with maintenance on bikes, other than that it’s a very good bike and I like it a lot

  • @mtbboy1993

    Presta valves for deep rims is easy to get here, probably is in most online bike retailers, as carbon road rims need that.
    But not as common, but the vavle on this rim is perfect, it's not too long/tall, so not ass likely to snap in a crash.
    But the rim there is not crazy tall. looks normal to me.

    • @andrewsiasparks
