I think Mattel became the weaker competitor when they started to adopt ideas from the Bratz. Bratz dolls were not only about urban club outfits. Myscene seemed to struggle with creativity for a minute bc they were inspired by Bratz without understanding the full vision .They had a good thing going with their high Fashion Girl/NYC girl aesthetic . I personally love Myscene dolls and still do. They seem like a perfect medium between Barbie and Bratz dolls. I've always loved their stylized appearance and in depth persona's. Although Bratz has so much and range and was more inclusive.
But who were Bratz inclusive to? They all shared the same face mold that perpetuated euro centric beauty standards. Even their POC dolls had the thin noses. large eyes, pouty lips and straight/wavy hair? The only difference between the dolls were the coloured plastic.
@@Adv18 I'm gonna speak from the perspective of a black person on this. Both lines have issues with diversity imo but in different aspects. Bratz has a known history of lightening darker skinned characters for commercials and the graphic designs on the boxes but Jade is routinely coded as asian and Sasha is undeniably black with deep skin, dark hair, and some of her dolls feature brown eyes and/or hairstyles like a fro or braids. Madison on the other hand... I personally don't find her relatable in the regard. She looks like Yasmin but with wavier hair and blue eyes. She seems to be coded as black with her interests and personal style but that's as far as it goes. To me, especially as a got older, that always gave the impression of Mattel wanting a black character... but not *too* black. Combine that with Sutton who started off with a fro and then they chopped it off so he basically looks like a tan Ken with dark hair, then dropping Nolee to replace her with Delaney, and I just end up feeling like the representation in My Scene is incredibly lacking. Bratz lacked the character development of My Scene but they have a wide spectrum of skin tones for kids to pull from with their huge cast of characters and 2 of their core 4 were racially *un*ambiguous. But that's just me!
Sasha and Madison if they were real would benefit from futurism lkme the loose wavy curly hair and blue and green eyes and so what black girls should be able to feel included their dolls should be able to have long hair cause most girls in real life love long hair

I think that the bratz were kept with less personality for the play aspect, I definitely liked this as a child because I would create my own worlds andand characters with ambiguous lives and loved to mix and match
This! I think the series and movies have been consistent with they personalities but at the end of the day I was playing with bratz more than any other doll because of the fashion, something I’d like to imagine I’d dress when I got older and still to this day I wish I could have the wardrobe my bratz had😩😭😭 Plus me n my sisters n cousins had so much fun playing with em ❤️
You should definitely do a video on Barbie circa 2003-2005, those years were really good for the line and really focused on bringing more detailed and fashionable pieces to play line, something we hadn’t really seen since 1999!
Growing up, my mom was always very critical of fashion dolls (I was very sheltered and my mother thought they were "vain" and "promoted bad moral values") and I was always discouraged from enjoying toys like this. I've found myself, as adult, realizing that a lot of these dolls were super cool and I've since started to gravitate towards them in ways that I was never able to enjoy as a kid, so... discovering your channel to learn about them has been a huge joy! Thank you for making content like this!
i love ur observations! i think bratz r undeniably iconic but myscene has a special place in my childhood memory bc of the lineless art style they went for and the web games
Great video! I'm definitely a MyScene boy at heart. When Bratz came out it was such an outstanding moment at the time because there were not fashion-forward dolls with such an innovative proposal as Bratz. We all loved the high-end fashions, very elaborated and glam makeup, trendy hairdos of that time that Barbie wasn't giving us. When MyScene came out everyone thought the same: They were copying Bratz with the characteristics of a large head, big expressive eyes, glam makeup, large lips, large feet, and stylish cheekbones. The MyScene fashions were also high-end with an urban modern look that was very inn of its time and Barbie did a great job by giving us something very different from past decades. I agree that in the beginning, the Bratz girls did not have a signature and singular fashion style to identify each character but through the years MGA noticed that and did it successfully. The good points on the Bratz doll lineup it was the diversity of each character and the representation of different people, and the low point of it is that there were not developing the background stories of the girls. On the other hand, MyScene did a great job by developing a deep back story for each character to make them feel more relatable to the kids through the tv ads, merchandising, and of course, the website. Although the graphics were very basic, the website was so much fun to spend hours playing there. Nowadays Bratz did an impact on culture and they're still a world phenomenon and they remain relevant.
This video is awesome! As a long time Barbie and Bratz fan/collector I crave content like this. Videos about Bratz that aren’t “Y2K” fashion or makeup challenge. But real content about Bratz dolls and how they changed the doll industry 💖💖💖 You’re doing a great job!
This made me remember how I played my scene flashgames ALL THE TIME as a kid. I never even had the dolls or honestly knew what the doll line was until recently. Now I finally know why I recognize the art style so vividly.
I'm from Germany and the Bratz didn't make it as big here. I remember only having Cloe as a mini Bratz while I had every MyScene girl once and a few different Barbies. I also only remember the MyScene and Barbie movies and video games but nowadays I love Bratz. Their style is so iconic. I loved the MyScene style as well but I feel so personally connected to Bratz when it comes to fashion
Growing up outside of the United States, the presence of a MyScene website with multiple attractions like games, webseries, written lore and trivia made a definite difference. Both Bratz and MyScene dolls were very expensive in my country, but the MyScene website had such chuckhold on me that I managed to get a Nolee as a gift one year. Bratz didn't have the same level of accessibility - I know they had their movies, but they were available only in a purchase form, it wasn't like I could just log on their website and have the videos there to watch whenever I wanted, like MyScene had.
Both are pretty and both uses real fabric the 2000's fashion dolls are the best. I can't stand the quirky vibe childish aesthetic of recent fashion dolls
Ikr some of them I like for example rainbow high dolls but a lot of the fashion dolls these days are so boring and "childish" I like lol omg dolls tho they have the quirky child aesthetic but they still have really good fashions in my opinion
@@niley.nunchuckz lol doll had npple when dipped in water in pany hose and male body parts shown wow bratz babies seem more tame but bratz babie was kind aweird bratz kidz is ok but the og is cool
Fashion dolls nowadays look childish and cartoonish so those companies can attract parents and marketing children nowadays, even the quality gets bad as time goes by compared to the 2000s.
great video! I do have to disagree about Bratz not having characteristics & peronalities to the extent of the main 4 of course. the secondary characters were definitely more just dolls. straight from the first release we know that Yasmin is a bohemian earth girl, Cloe is the girl next door, Sasha is into music specifically hip hop & Jade is into making her own clothes. In the digital media those personalities are expanded of course making Yasmin a writer & animal activist, Cloe was sporty & studious, Sasha was into making music and Jade wanted to be a fashion designer and they all shared a passion 4 fashion. As a kid none of them really represented my ethnicity perfectly so i always identified with Sasha for her love for hip hop and music :) I do agree that both Bratz and My Scene ended up with dolls that looked similar and less personal however i think Bratz also did a good job with showing the girls personal styles in the earlier years like Slumber Party, First Edition & Xpress It!
I actually agree! Slumber Party is one of my fave lines for that reason. It's just so playful and the girls' personalities really shine through in it even though they all have the same basic silhouette.
@@DarlingDollz I love how they play with the characters ethnic background a bit with Slumber Party as well! Jade’s kimono style robe & silk pants , Cloe’s western cowboy theme, Sashas hair twists and Yasmin’s top I believe is similar to a Latin American style blouse! I thinks it’s so cute
An iconic My Scene line you definitely forgot: 💎Super Bling💎 I also think both brands have their positives and negatives, personally I prefer My Scene though.
One line that was a predecessor to both of these was Barbie Generation Girls (1998 - 2002 I think) - it featured a group of international, somewhat multi-ethnic characters with distinct personality + styles and had book tie ins. Set in New York too like My Scene, and trying to push more contemporary teen fashion like Bratz. There were only about 3 lines of dolls, but I feel like this was kind of a line that was pushing fashion dolls into the Bratz and MyScene era (I am pretty sure the Bratz creator worked for Mattel at this time too so highly possibly he worked on this line.). Maybe not as high quality fashions but really cool accessories. I have always loved distinct styles and hobbies between my doll characters so this kind of stuff is what I lived for. MGA still often fails in this department in my opinion - all the Rainbow High outfits are amazing quality but feel like one guy's idea of 'fashion' and I wish they pushed individualized characters more.
Madison and Delaney were my favorite my scene dolls and Chloe was my favorite Bratz doll. I had no idea my scene was even inspired by bratz or in competition. I never liked Barbie’s much so it’s interesting to see the backstory now and why I was drawn to My scene along with Bratz.
Honestly as a kid who was the target demographic for both dolls. I loved them both but I was definitely more of a Bratz dolls kinda girl. But honestly what I loved about MGA and Mattel at the time. Is that we as kids got some great dolls out of both of them. I always thought as a kid that Bratz was going more for an L.A. fashion type of vibe and MyScene a more NYC fashion type of vibe. If Mattel would have stuck with that, MyScene would have had more iconic lines to remember
I have one masquerade madness my scene doll, and she's beautiful. I love everything about her, two outfits, lots of accessories etc I miss this doll line, it was a perfect mix of barbie and bratz.
Personally, as a child, I was intimidated by the MyScene girls as I thought of them being much older, and their more realistic body proportions made me feel more connected to the cartoonish Bratz girls. I cared more about the visuals than the personalities. I also felt that the Bratz girls were more international so as a non-American I resonated with them more haha
I never clicked on a video so hard LMaO. I always found this topic in toy history so fascinating. I also cannot believe u pulled up chart of the bratz secondary characters. Insane! 💜 thank u for ur videos, I like the narration and when I have time i always find one of ur vids ! 😀
I personally like both bratz and myscene. However the myscene i tend to lean more to from childhood memories. The bratz also hold a special place to my heart. Idk. Its hard to chose but if i did i believe i would chose myscene. Just bc of the memories they hold for me
I Know right?!, it's so hard to choose. I am a guy and even though that I played a lot with hot wheels cars, max steel action figures, I also used to watch the My Scene and Bratz commercials without caring about if people were criticizing me or making a fuss about these commercials. 2000s toys are so ICONIC.
I was a myscene kid! I think the thing that really endeared me to them was the included multimedia items. The CDs were so cool and i watched jammin in Jamaica and masquerade madness a million times. The Mattel website was also really incredible at the time, I preferred the my scene games to Bratz.
I really like your take and how balanced it is! I was a MyScene gal in my younger days but I absolutely see the ways in which Bratz work better. Thank you for this nice nostalgia trip!
My parents didn't let me have any Bratz dolls because they said that the name was vulgar and the dolls were too sexualized. Meanwhile last Christmas my step-brother's daughter got an LOL doll that I can only best describe as wearing nothing but a black fishnet lingerie suit 😅😅😅😅😅😅
I Love Your Voice... I'm sitting here all cracked out feeling while strolling through Pinterest for the past 2 or 3 hours. Damn I need to quit and get to work...Making a Polly Pocket Collection Wish List. I loved that one too! Thank You for being YOU!
I grew up with Bratz and never got into MyScene, although I really wanted to. It was kinda like Investing in Nikon vs Canon equipment--once you choose one, its a big effort to "switch". All of my friends had myscene, though!
I'm here from the Equestria Girls video and can't wait to comb through your channel a bit. And it's true tbh, as a kid I wanted Bratz so bad bc I loved fashion, but now I feel much more nostalgia for MyScene bc I spent hours connecting with the girls as characters and pretending I was in their group. My parents didn't want to indulge me in either brand lol so I still feel envy as an adult for these dolls looking at these old commercials. I can't believe how wild Bratz got even by today's standards
I really loved Bratz when I was a tween, and mostly remember things like "The brown haired one with a ponytail was the basketball one," "that one nerdy-chic skirt." I also think I was secretly attracted to them almost a decade before I would come out as gay, and there was a lot of internalized homophobia there. So I think it was more "I REALLY REALLY like these dolls because they uh, they look cool." I know people say they're ugly (my mom definitely thought so) but I just can't see it because of the nostalgic connotations.
I liked both Bratz and MyScene, really any kind of doll I loved. Even though I played with them less I have strong fond memories of my MyScene dolls. They just seemed so cool, I liked their faces and the webisodes definitely helped
I never really watched either of them, but I always liked the Bratz dolls in the stores. I never had any as I didn't like to play with dolls as a kid, but as someone who sews, their outfits always looked so cool, like things I'd want to wear but wouldn't be allowed to. I still like that type of aesthetic of the 2000s slightly edgier girl they were going for.
I grew up with both My Scene and Bratz dolls as a kid. Bratz definitely had more to offer when it came to playsets and lines, but they just didn't do it for me. I can appreciate both, but its totally My Scene all the way for me.
Am I the only one who grew up watching the my scene webisodes and just....never realized that Barbie was supposed to be THE Barbie?? I guess I never knew that my scene was also Mattel lol Seriously tho, I was more into My Scene because even as a kid, story and character content was always more my thing, but this video has given me an appreciation for Bratz. I hope those rock star fashion designer genies keep showing off their Passion for Fashion and inspire kids out there to do the same 💕
I only had Kennedy from myscene as a child. I loved the games, dolls (my fav line was the one with the dresses and fur coats), and webisodes. now that I am a adult, I have started collecting Bratz stuff- I have Cloe's eyeshadow palette, and the 20th anniversary Yasmin doll. I want jade, jade's lipliner, and a shirt from hot topic. I love Bratz!!
As someone who didn't like either brand initially, I could at the very least respect Bratz for being more different and edgy. I don't need media to determine my dolls' personalities. That's what imagination is for.
Surprisingly I didn't hear of myscene until last year (ik im so late wtf) but I'm definitely a bratz girl nothing can top them for me but I'm interested in giving myscene a chance and watching the cartoons maybe I can hopefully find a myscene doll and see what I think. they seem really great :)
I loved my barbies and I played with MyScene dolls, but i never liked bratz honestly because of the removeable feet 😅 i guess thats my take on the rivalry
My favorite doll was my My Scene Madison doll. It was the only My Scene doll I had, but I loved how she had joints at her knees and elbows which gave her way more posing opportunities.
Bratz will forever be my favorite. I'm on my boyfriends account right now, but growing up with the name "Anissia", being constantly made fun of for my DSL's (yes...children in Texas know what DSLs are), and having the darkest skin in my all white school, it felt...idk...cool to see dolls with exaggerated versions of my already exaggerated natural features + with names just as -"weird"- *unique* as mine, being played with by Lilly white suburban girls who knew nothing about an aesthetic I had grown up with and learned to idolize as I attributed it to how my older imo-glamorous older cousins looked. The big hoop earrings, the super slick ultra shiny lip-gloss, white eyeshadow, lip liner + no lipstick, belly shirts with cute AF bubbly graffiti letters/decor...like, that "zoom in zoom out" photo-background kinda vibe (if anyone remembers those places), high ponytails with random braids thrown in, "fendi capri pants & pedicured toes", etc. White girls & people in the business industry may call it "urban", but I call it "our style". Us: Latinas, chicanas, dominicans, black, phillipina. Whether "Cholas" or "around the way" girls. The ghetto superstars & barrio barbies ha😹 This was US. And it felt validating and special and made us feel cool and exotic but in the good way. Our features and fashion, once made fun of, were now idolized and admired. I will always LOVE Bratz for that. The people saying they look sexualized, dirty, gaudy, tacky, etc. and that say how when they were younger "they didn't want one" (lies) and try to make it seem like the more "natural looking dolls" are somehow morally and culturally superior are sick and stupid. Id rather look gaudy them boring. And makeup/loud bold fashions are just a celebration of unashamed femininity, a symbol almost, like the ornaments on a Christmas tree. No one looks at a Christmas tree, all done up with fabulous lights and bells and says "its masking the trees true beauty. How shallow". No that would be ridiculous. The ornaments are a celebration! An enhancement of our beauty! The way we express ourselves. There is nothing wrong with that. And its not Bratz fault that they just did it in a way that the naysayers are unable to pull off. So they can stick to their frumpery and their no makeup looks. They can be the morally superior ones who find value in the empowerment of not showing their value through the male gaze and blah blah blah But as for me and mine? Well embrace the camp and look fab while doing it and not spend our time with weirdo thoughts in our heads about how and why a CHILDREN'S TOY is "sexualized" (like...ew?). Bratz dolls don't look "cheap". They look _fun!_ and for us melinated sisters, they looked how our older cooler cousins were dressing at the time. Besides, as one of our Patron Saints of Fabulousness once said: _"Well Darling, it takes alot of money to look this cheap!"_ -Dolly Parton P.s: the my scene website SLAPPED tho like fr. Esp That music video maker yall remember that? lol!
Does anyone remember Flavas? I never owned the dolls, but the theme song lives alive and well in my brain forever. But they were, like, kids I would never be allowed to hang out with 😅
i had a my scene barbie with a purple bike (and matching helmet, very responsible of her), she came with a little dog to put in the bike's basket i think? she was my only doll with more than five points of articulation (so she could ride the bike) which was magical to me, i loved her so much!! her hair was blonde and curly and i found her so so beautiful
i loved both of these dolls and would exclusively play w them, my barbies were forgotten for a while. I played w Kenzie so much that her head popped off, but I just jammed it back on n kept playing w her no neck lmao. I think all these dolls are still in my parents’ basement, I think aside from the handmedown barbies, we almost exclusively collected myscene or bratz dolls growing up Also editing to add that I recall bratz having a very distinct smell when u opened their boxes n I could not get enough of it
I always wanted a MyScene doll as I saw them as more mature, but none of my friends had them, and my mum even once convinced me that getting a Bratz doll in the store was better than trying something new with a MyScene doll. I don't mind now, because I'm die-hard Bratz again, but I wish that I had at least seen one MyScene doll in person!
I aesthetically prefer Barbie/MyScene, but I appreciate Bratz more now. It was something I didn't like when it came out, but now I do. They grew on me.
Unfortunately I didn't have any of those dolls in my childhood but if I had the chance to buy them today I'd buy both of them! Bratz movies and tv series were iconic as well as myscene website. Those flash games were my childhood!
I'm very much settled in the Bratz camp since they're over cartoonized aesthetic and focus on fashion has always drawn me in. I also grew up watching the cartoon. I remember My Scene and while the aesthetic was certainly applause worthy, Sasha just felt like better representation for me as a black kid then Madison ever did. That being said, to this day, I dip into combing through different My Scene dolls on Google or ebay because the earlier aesthetic really hits hard. They truly had the fashion of everyday put together young women and I struggle against my chains to buy Sutton and Madison from the Hanging Out line. The impact of My Scene can't be denied though overall Bratz has gotten into my heart and my wallet. Lol
I agree with everything you said. I love the fleshed out personalities of My Scene and how it translated to their fashion (at least until My Bling Bling onward) and the Bratz diversity. Though I did enjoy the My Scene movies and website more. I like low key, more plot driven stories. Both had amazing quality of fashion, but Bratz took more risks and had more variety, imaginative, and creative lines. Personally, I enjoy My Scene more as dolls because they were the perfect blend of both Barbie and Bratz, but I enjoy Bratz more for their fashion lines. With Bratz slowly making a comeback I hope My Scene can also do the same. But y'know to avoid getting sued maybe make some bigger, stylized face sculpts of popular Barbie molds like Steffie, Mackie, etc. As you said there's room for everyone.
I stopped getting dolls around 2001, but my little cousins were huge Bratz fans. They had the dolls and clothes and loved them. I do remember the My Scene theme song from the commercials so I guess Mattel did its job
The core 4 Bratz characters still had their assigned style and fashion passion though. For yasmin It was bohemian and vintage. Sasha was hip hop inspired. Jade was alternate fashion. And Cloe is sporty but still extravagant. You can see that in their earlier lines such as XPress it,Flaunt it,style it,strut it,funk out,and even the first edition. They became inconsistent with their styles when they sued mattel in 2005 and started excluding Sasha and jade from the pack. They had to go under some major changes to stay on shelves from 2005-2009
was moxie girls ever involved with this feud? i know they were produced by MGA, but maybe as like an answer to parents who wish there were more ‘innocent’ looking bratz dolls/take away my scenes purpose of being similar to bratz but kind of glammed down?
Moxie Girlz were definitely envisioned to be a sort of "wholesome" alternative to Bratz as a way for MGA to have their cake and eat it too, but I don't know if they factored Mattel into that particular decision
As a kid I liked MyScene ans thought they looked like adult Bratz. I only ever owned 2 amongst my many Bratz. As an adult I found some MyScene at Savers. I loved the Bratz movies. Rock Angelz and Genie Magic were my favorite.
I had way more Bratz than MyScene but I still LOVED MyScene! I had all the dolls from the masquerade line as well as the apartment/loft play set. One of my favorite toys sets as a kid
I was never allowed to have Brats as a kid, and I didn't really like them as much to start. I LOVED My Scene dolls. I loved their fashion, and the games were the best.
Please, I loved the bratz movies but in general I think the Myscene dolls were just better built. I hated that if I wanted a beach look for my bratz i would have to find their feet to pop on instead of taking their shoes off. Which is pretty much the reason I only had barbies… yet I watched all the bratz movies.
tbh I always liked how the bratz matched outfits just bc it felt like they liked matching just bc they're friends, but maybe that's just my inner 6 year old haha (also fun fact i only found out MyScene dolls existed a couple years ago:o)
I love both Bratz and My Scene but my issue the dolls are not so much the dolls themselves but the parents hypocrisy surrounding them. Okay so they hate Bratz because of their features but My Scene was meant to compete with Bratz. They have Bratz inspired facial features, but obviously with Barbie bodies but why is one deemed worse than the other?
i wished bratz would use their 2d animations that are usually shown in their ads, in more than just their ads. the art work is too iconic and pretty to limit it
I’m personally not that big a fan of that look mostly because the no nose part of the style
I agree, I wish all their media (cartoon/movies) had that art style of animation from the commercials
to be fair, their first movie was in this style, so ur wish kind of came true:)

Nowadays Bratz did an impact on culture and they're still a world phenomenon and they remain relevant.
mystett had canceled daly wish they had a monster or different style like hrajuku punk preppy idk
If I remember Barbie was Replaced with Kennedy as a result of a settlement with one of the MGA lawsuits
I was going to say, how the heck did they get away with the name?!?
@@StarlaBizarre my scene was made by Mattel who owns Barbie
i love ur video bratz and myscene were equally important to my life as a kid so seeing praise from both sides was so good to listen to
you clocked the tea
This video is awesome! As a long time Barbie and Bratz fan/collector I crave content like this. Videos about Bratz that aren’t “Y2K” fashion or makeup challenge. But real content about Bratz dolls and how they changed the doll industry 💖💖💖 You’re doing a great job!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that ❤❤
I wasn't big into dolls growing up. But I was given a Yasmine doll when the Bratz came out. And she's been my girl ever since.
I really love both, in Brazil both doll lines where really expensive in my childhood, so i just enjoyed the cartoons and the movies
This made me remember how I played my scene flashgames ALL THE TIME as a kid. I never even had the dolls or honestly knew what the doll line was until recently. Now I finally know why I recognize the art style so vividly.
I'd love to see you cover the Fashion Fever days or talk about the short life of Novi Stars.
@@niley.nunchuckz lol doll had npple when dipped in water in pany hose and male body parts shown wow
bratz babies seem more tame but bratz babie was kind aweird
bratz kidz is ok but the og is cool
@@niley.nunchuckz lol doll kids is cool
@@starryskies113 lol dolls aren't really a problem it just bothers karens in my opinion
I thinks it’s so cute
i think bratz will forever be the superior doll line but my scene also had its own shine to it :)
An iconic My Scene line you definitely forgot:
💎Super Bling💎
I also think both brands have their positives and negatives, personally I prefer My Scene though.
Omg the my scene games are so memorable to me as well!! it and it holds such nostalgia.
MyScene was my favorite. I did dabble in Bratz when I was a kid and I had the prom themed Cloe, but we didn't form a connection.
I love everything about her, two outfits, lots of accessories etc
I miss this doll line, it was a perfect mix of barbie and bratz.
BOTH !!!
the myscenes were always the parents or siblings of my bratz😂
Well LOL surprise doll is literally made from the same man and company that created Bratz
Yeah I agree. My Bratz and my cousins my scene got along very well
"Dyllan stop!!! Your standing in poison Ivy"
"aAaaaAAhH"
I Love Your Voice... I'm sitting here all cracked out feeling while strolling through Pinterest for the past 2 or 3 hours. Damn I need to quit and get to work...Making a Polly Pocket Collection Wish List. I loved that one too! Thank You for being YOU!
I really loved MyScene and I spent many late night playing around on the website
I grew to really appreciate my scene tho, the quality was amazing
I grew up with Bratz and never got into MyScene, although I really wanted to. It was kinda like Investing in Nikon vs Canon equipment--once you choose one, its a big effort to "switch". All of my friends had myscene, though!
im more of a bratz person but i had ALOT of myscene accessories , i just thought they were better tbh
So I think it was more "I REALLY REALLY like these dolls because they uh, they look cool." I know people say they're ugly (my mom definitely thought so) but I just can't see it because of the nostalgic connotations.
i'm flying through your uploads. this is my home. thank you.
i'm amending my comment because you used a mike mozart thumbnail THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST CHANNEL
I liked both Bratz and MyScene, really any kind of doll I loved. Even though I played with them less I have strong fond memories of my MyScene dolls. They just seemed so cool, I liked their faces and the webisodes definitely helped
I only watched the bratz kidz and babyz movies but I looooved them. I was so jealous of their smooth, shiny hair haha.
MyScene were perfect for kids whose parents wouldn't let them have Bratz
I grew up with both My Scene and Bratz dolls as a kid. Bratz definitely had more to offer when it came to playsets and lines, but they just didn't do it for me. I can appreciate both, but its totally My Scene all the way for me.
i'm a big bratz fan but i loveee myscene, the fashion and music were amazing and the movies♡ i love delancey and madison 💗
Those were my favorite my scene dolls too. 😍
I have 3 Myscene dolls, Barbie, Kennedy and Delancey but I think I love to have Bratz dolls more especially Jade!
Am I the only one who grew up watching the my scene webisodes and just....never realized that Barbie was supposed to be THE Barbie?? I guess I never knew that my scene was also Mattel lol
Seriously tho, I was more into My Scene because even as a kid, story and character content was always more my thing, but this video has given me an appreciation for Bratz.
That's what imagination is for.
bratz girl right here. I was never allowed to have them as a kid, but omg im obsessed with them now
Imma MyScene guy. love the sultry eye makeup and pouty lip shape. It made me nostalgic for Generation Girl.
Ngl, I actually kinda like the weird CGI Bratz movies. I still have the Fashion Pixiez movie and I still love the drug trip that is that movie.
My Scene looks like 6Teen.
The ghetto superstars & barrio barbies ha😹
This was US.
They can be the morally superior ones who find value in the empowerment of not showing their value through the male gaze and blah blah blah
But as for me and mine?
Well embrace the camp and look fab while doing it and not spend our time with weirdo thoughts in our heads about how and why a CHILDREN'S TOY is "sexualized" (like...ew?).
Bratz dolls don't look "cheap". They look _fun!_
and for us melinated sisters, they looked how our older cooler cousins were dressing at the time.
Besides, as one of our Patron Saints of Fabulousness once said:
_"Well Darling, it takes alot of money to look this cheap!"_ -Dolly Parton
P.s: the my scene website SLAPPED tho like fr. Esp That music video maker yall remember that? lol!
You've hit several nails on the head with this one. 💯
You've explained their appeal in a way I couldn't quite put a finger on!
i just yelled "oh my god" at my computer when you brought up the lindsey lohan doll!!! that clicked something in the deepest part of my memory wow
I think all these dolls are still in my parents’ basement, I think aside from the handmedown barbies, we almost exclusively collected myscene or bratz dolls growing up
Also editing to add that I recall bratz having a very distinct smell when u opened their boxes n I could not get enough of it
I always wanted a MyScene doll as I saw them as more mature, but none of my friends had them, and my mum even once convinced me that getting a Bratz doll in the store was better than trying something new with a MyScene doll. I don't mind now, because I'm die-hard Bratz again, but I wish that I had at least seen one MyScene doll in person!
I never had a MyScene doll but I remember playing the MyScene web games for hours.
I aesthetically prefer Barbie/MyScene, but I appreciate Bratz more now. It was something I didn't like when it came out, but now I do. They grew on me.
I was definitely a MyScene girl too. Althou I liked the Bratz series and movies as well.
amazing video! I loved this a lot!! I am a MyScene girl but Bratz is for sure iconic af
Lol
i was never aloud to play with either one but now i can and i prefer bratz
will you cover barbie fashion fever next
I think My Scene body proportions and face sculpts were prettier. Bratz had better fashion.
They had to go under some major changes to stay on shelves from 2005-2009
I love both i want campfire bratzs but so pricey
My first and only doll as a kid was a MyScene Barbie, I wanted bratz tho
was moxie girls ever involved with this feud? i know they were produced by MGA, but maybe as like an answer to parents who wish there were more ‘innocent’ looking bratz dolls/take away my scenes purpose of being similar to bratz but kind of glammed down?
Moxie Girlz were definitely envisioned to be a sort of "wholesome" alternative to Bratz as a way for MGA to have their cake and eat it too, but I don't know if they factored Mattel into that particular decision
Omg, I had completely forgotten about the my scene dolls :o I loved them as a kid
As a kid I liked MyScene ans thought they looked like adult Bratz. I only ever owned 2 amongst my many Bratz. As an adult I found some MyScene at Savers. I loved the Bratz movies. Rock Angelz and Genie Magic were my favorite.
The bratz babies movie with the potato aliens was a fever dream and a half. And I still love it.
I Loved both of them
I had alot of them 😁
But yessss Bratz is iconiccccccc and paved the wayyyy (lol I’m commenting as I’m watching)
Our daughter Elizabeth has super bratzz babies movie DVD
Same
Im MYsCENE fan just because I spent HOURS on the site.
Omg I loooooooved the my scene movies !!
Team bratz for life
I love both lines 💓
tbh I always liked how the bratz matched outfits just bc it felt like they liked matching just bc they're friends, but maybe that's just my inner 6 year old haha (also fun fact i only found out MyScene dolls existed a couple years ago:o)
