which is better? I don't have a trailer I have a Ram pickup truck I feel like the 120 would stick out too much out the back of the truck and also it's probably a lot heavier
It's because of you and a few others that I have my 120 going on 2yrs. I'm a below the knee amputee and trust this kayak where ever I go. Tight lines~~
I love my AP136. Only things I don’t like is the weight, and I wish it was a little faster. I did upgrade my connectors to the MK-28 plugs, what a world of difference! Tight lines!!!
nice video I have 2 batteries in my kayak and I used to have a problem until I started generously covering absolutely everything electrical with lithium grease doesn't seem to hurt the connection at all and it becomes totally sealed from the weather. I subscribed and I hit like
Hey JC! So I added pole holders to my predator xl like the 120 because I kept watching how convenient when you caught a fish and put the rod on the side. I don’t know what I’ve been waiting on 😂. Perfect! It’s front of the seat. It’s out of my way. I’m thinking about getting the autopilot next year. I’m still learning the kayak. Every time I go out I find something new to me ! I’ve watched your videos on this kayak through the years. I would say this has been a great kayak! Thanks for the video!
I use dielectric on mine religiously because I saw his issues with this when it first happened. I assure you the grease only helps with corrosion but the issue still happens. It happens to mine as well. The issue is just that the connection point on the female end gets wallered out. Kinda like how a phone and charger get after many uses. My idea for old town would be to use a twist lock style fitting. This might help tremendously. I wish the cup holders didnt hold water though. 😔
Nice update JC. Great Kayak, just wish it was more affordable here in the UK. Some Silicone grease might help protect your electrical connections. Been a hell of a busy year so far, and not had as much time for TH-cam. Tight lines - Stay safe & well. 🎣🎣👍👍
Awesome, i gotta start taking out my kayak more often. Sunday i caught my pb snook at the jetty using a huge live ladyfish and the jacks were absolutely insane. They were eating jigheads plain you gotta give it a shot all the fish are on fire currently
I've had a Topwater 106 since 2018 and I absolutely *LOVE* it! I'm seriously considering an upgrade to the Autopilot 120 for some of the bigger waters I fish. The Topwater is all I need for the smaller lakes, ponds and rivers I fish here in the Adirondacks, however there are some larger bodies of water the Autopilot would open up.
Thanks for watching. That sounds like a great plan. I fish mostly in saltwater. The AutoPilot checks all of the boxes for me. I fish in current, in very shallow water, in deep water and in windy conditions. I can GPS anchor just about anywhere. I've been using this kayak almost four years now and have never ran out of battery power during a fishing adventure using a 100 Amp Hr battery. Here's my initial on the water review video of the AutoPilot 120: th-cam.com/video/dJPXsbVnIq8/w-d-xo.html You will also find that I have a playlist of the AutoPilot with some great informational and DIY videos in this link: th-cam.com/play/PLmOP4sI73TZWa42C5NkGpKuyf7rTNbs5H.html
Call Old Town and ask them what to look for. They will help you out for sure. I honestly don't know what looked different on the replacement motor. I just know that the collar that broke was made from a different material on the new motor.
I had an Old Town touring kayak when I lived in North California- solid boat. I have never tried one of these fishing boats as they look unstable and don't have a rudder. Rudder is more stable and you can use your body profile as a sail. Interesting to see one of these up close- thank you for sharing.
Hi JC. I have the 136 Sportsman (same clour too), but it isn't the AutoPilot model. Like yours, everything is in really great shape. Of course, since I have no battery/motors, I don't have the electrical issues to contend with. But I also get a good work out as everywhere I go, I am paddling. (So who needs a gym membership?) The 136 is a heavy beast, but I do like the extra leg room.
After watching your videos I bought the autopilot 120 and my wife got the 106. We love them. We've had them a little over a year.

I also have a ram. It doesn’t stick out too much.

Do you use a cart? If so what do you recommend? Thanks

You could use dielectric grease on those plugs it would help with corrosion n help with connection

Outstanding review, I can't wait to get one!
Been looking at the 120 for a while now, likely going to be my yak. Really appreciate the video. Thanks RRF!
Nice! I wonder if the iPilot have a reverse function? All I saw is the left and right turn and the throttle functions
Yes, the motor turns in a full circle.
I have the same model but in 136 length! Love it!
Good honest review 👍
Great update . Did you move out of the apartment.
No. I have a place where I store the kayak off site.
Thanks for the info I am thinking about buying a 2020 auto pilot 120. Is there anyway to identify the old motor versus the new motor?

i'm not sure. Ask Aliex th-cam.com/video/N1vF7iKh9Io/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N8j_oLnyYqWk72Ke
Love the 120 BUT... I just popped my lower seal on my motor so we will see what happens from here
Oh, that sounds bad. How did it happen?
@RadReelingFishing just using it nothing special.. noticed it was hanging out when I was rinsing it off. Hopefully ot will warranty it 🙏
I enjoy the videos from that kayak.
Great vid bro! 👍🏻🤙🏻
