- The innovative and award winning Old Town Sportsman AutoPilot 120 and 136 kayaks are a dream to fish from. This is in large part due to the numerous features packed into the fully integrated I-Pilot motor. While many anglers are aware of the I-Pilot’s basic features there are many more advanced features available including iTracks and Spot-lock memory that allow angler’s to store tracks and waypoints on their handheld remotes and easily navigate back to these features.
In addition, with the addition of a @MinnKotaMotors Heading Sensor anglers can use Spot-lock jog. In this video Tyler Hicks takes us through the basic and advanced features of your AutoPilot’s I-Pilot features as as additional remote options for controlling your I-Pilot motor.

Great video. I bought the 136 and didn't know about the cruise control and didn't know you had to be within a certain distance to follow the bread crumb trail. Also didn't know about the app or the mini remote.

Just purchased a 136 and tried it out a couple days ago. I think I am going to like It. When I first tried spot lock however the motor started doing some funny things. Spinning the motor or around left and right right. Location wise it seems to be fine. Directionally not so good. Do I have to hit the directional button before I hit spot lock.

will it follow tracks well without the heading sensor? like can record a track around a island and will it follow that track accurately?

I can do this on my Drone so I’m curious. Having to plot on the go and record is one more thing you have to do while you’re trying to fish 🐠
Interested in the 120 auto pilot. Do you know if you can use this autopilot on the old town 120 to have it follow the contour line on your hummingbird fish finder?? Like say I’m fishing for bass. And want to target them at say 10 feet. Could you pick a 10 foot contour line on the fish finer and have the autopilot follow that contour heading !??
Thanks for reaching out! What you are describing is not currently available on the AutoPilot, which has iPilot technology. What you would need is a Minn Kota motor with iPilot Link technology.
Do u have to have the nmea 2000 for the minnkota heading sensor to work

When I spot lock to try and fish some docks the trolling motor will turn me the opposite way any advice on this ?
How long is your crossbar? I'm thinking about getting a Malone 58" crossbar. I'm not sure if it's long enough for two yaks, with one being a autopilot 120
There is a lot of kayak , videos on how to get back in your kayak, but how about all your gear and trolling rod holders, fish finder, rods. How difficult is it to get back in with all the stuff in the way .
I've seen guys launch these and then send them out a bit and hit spot lock so they aren't tying up space at the ramp. How far is the range of the remote? I'd be afraid the boat wouldn't respond and just keep going. Haha!

You did unload that kayak pretty easy what brand of kayak carriers do you use? This was the first time I seen this kayak being demonstrated can't believe the option how long does the battery last

Battery longevity will depend on whether or not you are using seal lead acid or lithium and how you use the motor on your kayak. I have a video on this here: th-cam.com/video/mbc2O6wxCXc/w-d-xo.html

Why isn't there an ipilot Link? I have a 136 but am considering jumping to a Hobie with an Xi3 and Lowrance for that Trolling motor/ Chartplotter interactivity. Is there a way to get the ipilot link on the autopilot?
The AutoPilot motor uses iPilot, not iPilot link, at this time there is no way to add iPilot Link to the AutoPilot. We apologize for the inconvenience.
You said that when you record your track and you go back into it later it just shows the date I thought you were able to put the name you can give it a name thanks
You are not able to re-name your saved iTracks, they default to IT01, IT02, etc. Save date and location/distance information is also displayed along with the name.
Does the spot lock keep you facing in the same direction, or does the kayak rotate? Thanks!
Great question! Spot lock will keep you in the same location, but does not keep you facing the same direction.

You are not able to rename your saved Spot-Locks in iPilot, they will default to SL01, SL02, etc.
How can i spot lock in a specific direction? It holds me in the same position well, just not in the direction I want.
Spot Lock keeps your kayak locked into a GPS coordinate, it will not position your kayak in a specific direction. It will always point into the wind/current. If you wish to change the direction your kayak is facing you can use an anchor or Micro Power Pole.

What is the constant beeping?
My motor won’t turn on. It’s fully charged remote says motor not found. I’ve tried hitting the test button but I get nothing please help
Check that your two kill switches are connected (one next to the seat and one on the motor itself), and that you are fully deploying the motor all the way down. If you are still not getting power please contact our customer service team Monday morning at 800-343-1555.

Good question! You are able to control whether you are heading forwards or in reverse by using your feet - just as you would pedaling a bike!
