I had the opportunity to hear Jerry Hadly together with Thomas Hampson during a wonderful recital in Montreal back in the mid-90's. I was shocked to learn later of his tragic and untimely death. What an irreparable loss to the opera world!

He has such a pure bright well defined sound throughout his range. Not a trace of heaviness or harshness. His diction/vowel sounds are all amazing. I heard him live once in St. Louis as Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte

Geez it brings tears to hear this, he died way too young. So lucky to have heard him in recital, what a gift and he was so passionate about American vocal repertoire on top of all his opera triumphs. Just one of the greats, RIP

I will never understand why Mr. Hadley did not receive the admiration and respect. Placido Domingo, who could never breathe correctly and did not extend and open any high notes past the 1970s, got all the fame and fortune. For what? For attending all the chat shows in America in the 1980s? For seducing his donors? How many talented tenors did we ingore because of him? At least Pavarotti had a lovely voice and knew how to sing and breathe.

Wie oft hat Lenny das dirigiert? Das habe ich noch von keinem anderen Dirigenten in dieser Klarheit und Selbstverständlichkeit gehört!!
    Many thanks for uploding!

Love this, but distracted by Peter Sutcliffe look-a-like and sweaty man in the background.

I'm glad that many commenters mention that the tempo is slow...A conductor can want a particular tempo..perhaps slow/slower than average, but isn't presenting the soloists you have in the best possible light part of being a good conductor?

Michael Miller He had so much potential and a beautiful tenor voice. Very sad indeed my friend.Taking your own life is so horrible for those that are left behind. Not knowing why etc. So many questions unanswered. Arnold Bourbon Amaral

His Italian voice and face, after his mother are obvious here.

One could almost mistake him for Bonisolli from a distance here

I like much Jerry Hadley here, his italian technique and also like very much to listen many times to Bonisolli in this area when he was at the middle of his career.

@@Minimorum1, I agree. In the 1970's I had a several chances to see and listen Bulgarian Nikola Nikolov. He had one unfortunate performance at the MET and then disappeared. But I saw him in Europe and his Italian version of the Nessum dorma was on the same level with Mario del Monaco and Corelli.

Jeesh! A little slower Bernie, you let the tenor live... Speed it up to 1.25 and now it sounds right.
