Something about that in Jerry Hadley may have fueled his entire career before the decline in Opera weighed heavily on him, especially when entering the later half of his life.
“Discovered” Jerry Hadley when Hampson brought him along for what Seattle audiences thought was going to be a solo recital. Wow! Everyone in the house (some 3,000) was and still is grateful for this introduction. Both men did solos as well as duets. One of my favorite memories, from the early 90s.

Hadley raises his chest while breathing. Big mistake. But it goes with his thin white tone. Vocal destruction is the result of singing like this.
