Yeah it is a legend of a bike really , been used in so many ways , standard, drag bikes, Streetfighters and customs over the years, amazing bikes and one of the best ever engines
Memories. Weekly rides into Sydney from the Northern Beaches with 10+ bikes. Gixxer 1100s x3 ZXR 750s x4 from H2s to J2 and Honda Fireblades. No police radars, no speed cameras, no wheelie control (so lame) no ABS, basically no BS riding under streetlights and through tunnels, parking on street corner cafes with the bikes on the pavement next to us. Swapping rides, never owned a GSXR1000 but rode them many times on these nights. Always wanted one as they were the most comfortable of what we were riding and just felt like a boss with the torque and engine size winding on the throttle. Miss those days. All legendary bikes without the computer aids. It just felt more pure.
Exactly mate , just pure , awesome to hear your memories and that’s what I got when I rode it again, have similar memories which my friends on a range of zxr750’s and fireblades etc… only probably in not so nice surroundings 😂😂 loved it back in the day , thought I was king of the road back then , still an awesome bike today
I began road biking in 1967, after a few years over fields, and have ridden about eighty different models regularly switching from sports to tourers. The GSSR1100 was by far the very best sports bike I ever owned. I bought an early full power black / silver model in the late 80s and rode over 8k on it including Tunbridge Wells to Wisbech every week. Then almost 35 years ago (seems like yesterday, almost) so I then rode most everywhere flat out, not so difficult with few cameras and fewer / safer drivers. Totally impossible these days with honest number plates, and on crap country roads. The bike was light, was willingly thrown around, and easily and naturally became an extension of oneself. It was a FANTASTIC RIDE. Much better than today's Hayabusa. Open the throttle at 100 m.p.h. and the front wheel lifted off the ground and rocket accelerated! When I sold it my buyer tested it with me as pillion. I well recall him screaming in genuine desperation "How do I slow it down, I'm terrified?!!!" It needed such a small throttle opening. Nowadays at 72 years old I tootle around on my Honda Valkerie Interstate (much much harder to ride) and today I seriously looked at a very low mileage GSXR on the internet as a second bike. Then I got real: A great bike to look at and wax but far too fast for today's road conditions, and if I still fancied track days it would not be quite fast enough if one could afford a £40k dedicated track bike. So my head eventually won over my heart. But I enjoyed many happy memories. P.S. What is more suitable for today's roads if one wishes to pose / kid oneself on an attractive looking bike - I would recommend something along the lines of a Ducati 800SS.
I always like hearing people experiences, memories, feelings and stories from bikes they used to have , they are suck cool iconic bikes for me, such a good engine , loved riding it again
I bought a blue and white one in 1992 and LOVED it. Fantastic engine, pulled like a rocket so that the horizon came quicker at you than you could understand. I STILL LOVE the styling with the double headlights. Suzuki was big in 24 hour endurance racing and this bike's styling came from those 24 hour racers. Thanks for the video, it's great to see and hear it again. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

My favourite sportsbike design from that period and they still look the business today. I have a 1986 GSXR-750 i got back in 1987, and a 1988 1100 katana, I will keep rideing them, the 1100 is a bit old looking, kinda like me,It has 49,000 miles on the clock , Bikes you had to learn how to ride, no fancy computer aids to help you. P S how much power & speed do you need, the 750 pumping out around 100HP & the 1100 pushing out around 138HP. Great video, nice old 1100.
Awesome, good your using them, yeah the 750’s are great bikes too, i used to live a 750 back in the day , one of my friends has a Katana with a few bits done to the bike , looks really cool :)
I have one, bored out to 1277cc forged internals, bigger oil cooler, dyna 2000, balanced crank, stage 3 head flow, stage three 3 cams, forged Conrad’s, external oil lines to head, modern clutch, all gears back cut, titanium 4 into 1 yoshi r3 with yoshi tmr mjn race 41mm carbs, plus many more mods, does over 200rwph as a bike, has 170rwhp as a sprint car- 4 times the weight. Built by a drag engineer as a reliable bike at 12.5:1 compression, ohlins rear, race tech springs up front. 1 mm valve increase with titanium retainers. Sleeves just where not bored out, but rather sleeves dropped, then bored, then sleeved then bored to maximise sleeve thickness. Currently running mid 8 in std looking bike in pristine condition. Got dynos to prove hp. Whoops every new bike even with a power commander and pipe.
These bikes are the best model they made with the best colour scheme. There is a shirt that says “ if you have never owned one (picture of bike and gsxr 1100) you will never understand” . I never bought the bike 13 years ago and thought I would have it this long. It still looks original, in fact it’s off getting a new paint job now ( still in original colours). My mate is a drag specialist in Queensland Australia and it’s just progressed over time. The bike does ride better being 2 up rather than solo, it’s just the way they are, my wife loves that. The yoshimura carbies 41mm up from mikuni cv 36 is the nearest thing to fuel injection too. People think that it would be unstreetable but quite the opposite those carbies atomise fuel brilliantly along with the 12.5:1 compression rather than 13:1 make it far more enjoyable to ride. The L is now undoubtedly the rarest model to find and parts are impossible to find. Thank you for your kind words brother.

I’ve got a 1100 H and a 1100 K and prefer these to any modern bike. Also they did a track test in the States and an GSXR 1000 K5 was quicker on the track than a new Ducati V4 and they don’t burn you legs which is always a bonus 🤣🤣
Yeah I’m sure they could have a little talc to make them better .. but also the weight of the bike compared to todays bikes and their brakes and tyres it all adds up to the difference in stopping it , was still awesome to ride though :)
Gaz Van Dyk yeah it was good to ride it after all these years, such a good engine Suzuki built back then, and nice to see one in that condition and still original , a lot of these were turned into Streetfighters, sometimes through choice but most of the time after an accident

The K had right way up forks and the L was the first with USD ones. The rear wheel on the K was only 4.5" with a 160 tyre, while the L had 5.5" with a 180/55. Also the K had a big H with "Hyper Sports" in smaller writing on the tank, while the L just has "Suzuki" in big writing. The K tank looked awesome I thought. I had a K in black and silver. Fitted the 5.5" rear wheel from an L. Once I sorted the suspension with Maxton parts it worked well. Awesome bike engine and brakes were good - the ones in this vid must be suffering from duff pads.
A cooool set of wheels and very clean love the retro styling and I bet she goes
Yeah what a bike, brilliant engine, still nice to ride now :)
Mate you have done a lot of work there and clearly know yr stuff on GSXR’s ... you should do a video on yr bike , would love to see it
These bikes are the best model they made with the best colour scheme.
@@ProjectMoto I have owned a number of bikes, RD250LC, Katana 750, Ducati F1 750, Ducati MHE 900, Honda CBR 954, Honda CR250 two banger for the dirt, then got the gsxr1100 without really looking for it, it just fell in my lap. Now I will never part from it. 30 year old bike for a 50 yr old rider.
@@99tonyM when I had one like 25years ago I thought it was king of the road and the best looking bike back then, and now it still rides so nice, has one of the best engines ever made and still looks as awesome as it did way back then, and yeah it’s also so comfy for the pillion, what a bike they are !
@@99tonyM sir you have had some nice bikes, wish I still had my GSXR1100
What a machine! Sounded proper. I have a 2014 Busa, my 4th, Suzuki? Never fails, and yes, I did like the video.
Yeah they are still such a good bike, I had a 1st Gen Busa back in about 2000… loved that bike , thanks, glad you enjoyed the video :)
I had a 1989 K model. What an absolute weapon it was😎👍
Nice, these were certainly a weapon back in the day, still an awesome bike today 😎
this was kotaro minami's bike kamen rider black sun movie back then.. love this legend bike ❤❤❤ i have little gsxr150.. really nice bike..
Well if he was cool then he would definitely have this bike !! :) thanks
Had a 87 blue and white big bore kit I believe it was a 1330 can't find paperwork that bike at that time was it a little soft in the corners by today's standards but blistering quick and incredibly fast .
Nice, yeah they are soft and a bit heavy compared to today bikes but yeah they engine is still amazing
my dad had one of these and used to knee drag on the racetracks it was like driving a brick he said!
Ha , that’s a good description for it on track I guess 😂
Eu tive esse 1100 katana. foi minha melhor moto andava muito e tinha velocidade superior a todas as novas Suzuki. Tinha um Dop nos garfos q travava a suspensão pra fazer curvas em alta velocidade...Top Queriia comprar de novo..
Got one and I lov it. 92 red with black with many tasty goodies 👌
They are still such a good bike, one of my all time favourites, awesome 😎
What a bike, looks like new, sounds awesome. Great video mate !
Thanks, appreciate it, yeah the bike is in such condition, shows how good a bike can still be after 30 years if it’s looked after, love it, still nice to ride today , yeah not as fast and don’t handle or stop like todays bikes but it’s so smooth and solid , great experience riding one again :)
I’ve got a 1100 H and a 1100 K and prefer these to any modern bike. Also they did a track test in the States and an GSXR 1000 K5 was quicker on the track than a new Ducati V4 and they don’t burn you legs which is always a bonus 🤣🤣
Yeah they are still great bikes today, the K5 is a good bike and yeah they don’t get hot like the V4 🔥 🔥
Similar callipers to the MK1 Bandit 1200 which can be made to work really well with some TLC 👍
Yeah I’m sure they could have a little talc to make them better .. but also the weight of the bike compared to todays bikes and their brakes and tyres it all adds up to the difference in stopping it , was still awesome to ride though :)
Loved my 1989 1100K. I wish I could have kept it, but the lure of a KR1-S was too strong and I went back to 2 strokes for a while.
When I had my 1100 I thought it was king of the road… but I did have 3 KR1S’s .. would love one again now :)
@@ProjectMoto Yeah, me too. Too bloody expensive now though!
Looks and sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
Gaz Van Dyk yeah it was good to ride it after all these years, such a good engine Suzuki built back then, and nice to see one in that condition and still original , a lot of these were turned into Streetfighters, sometimes through choice but most of the time after an accident
Great looking bike!
Yeah still looks so cool after all these years :)
This is my style of Superbike.. much prefer over today’s.. but I’m 49 and old lol.. Recently added a nice 750 SRAD to my collection and love riding it 👍🏼
Yeah it’s still a great bike today mate, hey I’m not for behind ya so we ain’t old, are we ?? 😂😂 I had one of these and I also had a 750 SRAD, had the first of the fuel injected ones :)
@@ProjectMoto Absolutely right, age is just a number. In my head I'm still 18 😄 My SRAD is a '98 FI bike.. Rides great.. but the brakes are best described as 'adequate' lol especially compared to modern bikes..🙈😂
@@woooster17 yeah upgrading with modern brakes, pads and tyres help an older bike out nowadays, but they were great bikes, 750’s were good, Also loved my ZX7r I had before the SRAD, would never of got rid of the ZX7r tbh but unfortunately for me someone made the choice for me by stealing it , I got the SRAD after that, although the SRAD was better on paper I think personally I liked the ZX7r more , was just a bike that suited me, I’m hoping to do a video soon on a friends Yamaha R7 that came out when I had the SRAD , always wanted to ride one as they looked awesome but never got the chance, fingers crossed I get to ride one now 🤞
@@ProjectMoto They’re great bikes of their generation for sure, late 80s/90s bikes are definitely my era.. Totally get you re: the ZX7R.. I had 3 earlier ZXR 750 H2s, & loved them.. I really want another but they’re getting rare in decent condition these days..& prices are climbing! I have a few other bikes, an Aprilia RSV Factory, Honda Fireblade and a low mile ZX12R that I bought from a private collection.. if I could fit more into my garage I would.. buying bikes is an addiction for sure..😄 Hopefully you get to do the R7 video.. they’re stunning bikes! I almost..almost bought an OW01 but the S/H was missing so I got jumpy and decided against.. but if I find another, I’d love one, that or an RC30 🤤👍🏼
@@woooster17 awesome mate, some nice bikes ... an OWO1 would be so good , actually watching one on eBay 😂😂 .. and as for an RC30 my other friend is trying to get one so you never know, and if he does I will definitely get a ride :)
I purchased that bike from a U.K. dealer while in Afghanistan and had it shipped back to the U.S., it now lives in Cocoa Florida, Still has the U.K. G907 ATL Tag
Such a nice bike ! Now it’s living it’s life in Florida :) love these gsxr1100’s , did you buy it as you used to have them or just wanted one?
@@ProjectMoto Thank you, I had one back in the 90's... You can still find them in Europe, I purchased that one from the U.K and one from Germany (Black & Silver) for my brother and had them both shipped back to the States... I'm still in Afghanistan and have not been home to see it. They are both sitting in my brothers garage... The Tag on this one in the video caught my eye and I was like, What! I think that is my bike... Small world... Cost to ship back to the States is @ $2500.00 USD per bike, delivered to the front door... Have a great ride... : )
@@ECHOB yeah I had mine back in the 90’s too, loved it then and was well happy I got to ride one again now , enjoy it when you get back, Ride safe :)
Still looks cool today
Yeah what an awesome looking bike, after all these years still so cool 😎
Total monster bike!
Yeah what a bike it was.. and still is today :)
i had a 1990 750 in red. Always wanted an 1100, but i now have two 91 zx11s. the 1990 gsxr is hard to find.
Awesome, used to love a 750 , yeah they are getting harder to get hold of one now, still good to ride today , really enjoyed riding one again 😎
That is a beautiful bike.
Yeah they are still so nice after all these years
Compared to today's super bikes that old gsxer offers quite a decent pillon seat.
Love the bike….safety gear is not underrated!
Yeah still a great great today !! I agree it’s always better to have safety gear :)
Love Suzuki lots...my favorite brand
Yeah so do I , I had a lot of different ones over the years , RGV’s,GSXR’s,Hyabusa..all been good bikes :)
@@ProjectMoto 👏👍I have a bunch of oldies fro 1974 to 90ies and a 1000 k7 I had to stop you to fix all the bike 😪
Should have worn hi tech trainers and Suzuki gb paddock jacket to get the right feel
Ha yeah that would have been perfect.. probably got some somewhere 😂
Awesome video.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)
143 bhp. 80ft torque. 80 ft lb of torque. 143 bhp. Beautiful motorcycle. Shes a Lady x
Yeah and a gorgeous one too !
My favorite motorcycle
Yeah they are still so nice today 😎
@@ProjectMoto brings back great memories,I had a 89 gsxr 1100 with a yoshi pipe 👍
@@bigdogbulldog9912 awesome, glad it brought back some great memories for you :)
I had a 1994 ,real beast.
Yeah when I had mine I thought it was king of the road, still a good bike today :)
@@ProjectMoto sure it is mate, 155 horses aint no joke. Now i ride a Dominar 400cc with a lousy 35 hp 🤣🤣🤣
Mate I ride bikes from 35bhp to 220bhp , sometimes I have had as much fun on the 35bhp bikes as the bigger bikes... as long as your riding you can still have fun, but it is nice when I get to ride something like this again
I have that good bike love Suzuki
Yeah it’s a very good bike still today , had loads of Suzuki’s and Kawasaki’s in the past
Now you're talking!
My dream bike
They are still such a great bike today ..good choice for a dream bike :)
Standard 1100 L never made 140 hp standard. 125 rwhp good amount of torque though. Oil cooled engine....bullet proof!
My tach starts at 3000rpm.
Blue/White -89 Slingshot 1100
I think I remember something like that … the blue and white slingshot is my favourite colour !! Just looks so cool 😎
Badass bike.
Yeah mate , they are awesome 😎
Its the best lookin bike there....
One of my all time favourite bikes :)
Yo solo tengo el motor. Ya el chasis se fregó. Si alguien tiene para vender chasis tanque y todo lo demas. De la Suzuki GSXR 1100 quiero comprar.
Were did you find the decals,or is it original
I’m pretty sure it was still original
This is cool. 😍
Yeah such a cool bike :)
Donde venden esa moto. Soy de Bolivia
There are used ones for sale around , this one went to America
Class mate 💪👍🏻
Thanks mate, loved my one of these... didn’t know you have seen any of these videos :)
Your sister told me about it love it 😊
David lee Scott nice, thanks mate :)
How do you know the difference between 1100L and 1100K models?
Rode it everywhere flat out (used to show 172mph every day on my commute home (if it was dry) (not far from where this vid was made, in fact)).
R u in the US?? And how much if its for sale?
Im looking for a clear one just like it
Hi ,we are in the UK .. unfortunately the bike has sold now , actually to someone In the U.S , it was shipped over there a couple of weeks ago
@@ProjectMoto i wish i had enough money i will ship it back
Take care of it
Its a real classic

Was that a water-cooled gsxr?
These have a oil cooler :)
The best ones
Who owns this bike, im on the hunt for one.
I think the guy who actually owns the bike is somewhere in the comments on this video.. we sold it to a guy in the U.S and shipped it over to him
@@ProjectMoto That's a shame, I live local to Ducati Chelmsford and we have met before, you also have my friends Desmosedici rr on display. 😎

great video thanks so much for reminding me of how much I miss my old ride,, guess its time to sell the harley and back on a real bike :) anyone got one they wanna swap for a fat boy ?

Straight up truth :) great video thanks again
@@fujitattooz5127 thanks :)
Them old boys look way more masculine compared to the new bikes
Yeah still looks so good all these years on, awesome 😎
1127cc of pure - raw oil/aircooled power.
Yeah what an awesome bike and engine it is still after all these years :)
I passed my test on the 750 one
Loved the 750 too back in the day , always liked the blue and white one ,that’s some bike to do your test on , did the examiner get to see you 😂
Beautiful bike but the weight terrifies me
Yeah it’s really nice, still nice to ride.. but they are a little heavy, you wouldn’t want to run out of petrol and have to push it far to a garage that’s for sure!
@@ProjectMoto I'd be most concerned about dropping it and then never being able to pick it up again!
@@andrewduffield2322 ha was gonna day that too, probably need some friends to help 😂

These are so cool , these models ride a bit better, for me anyway, over the Slab side GSXR but they are so cool as well, I had a crash on one of these once !
She could be the sister to mine, even the same colour scheme, I hope I never have to part with her,
If you have one now never part with her, I wish I still had mine , still such a great bike :)
@@ProjectMoto I hope I never will, unfortunately not in as good a condition as the one you road, but she's still my baby and my nemesis, but I now try to treat her with the respect that she and my riding skill deserves.

Yeah I wear boots a lot , not all the time though… everybody is different
thats an absolute beauty
Yeah They still look so good after all these years :)
