    I’m curious as to where Engine 215 is getting its water from, in order to supply Ladder 15, as well as the two hand lines.
    Is there a hydrant on that elevated section of the freeway?

    . . . the FFs besides the ramp on the right side would have needed maybe one additional lane of 5 totally available lanes - naaahhhh they blocked 4 lanes - even after the fire was almost completely under control . . .

    I don’t understand why we don’t do what they do overseas. When a building is lost and this one certainly is... bring in a dozer and plow a hole for access and push in wall to smother fire. The water is shooting straight over the structure and not touching it for at least one line.

    • @cutebutsadisticable
      @cutebutsadisticable 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know if there is a basement. Also that's not safe at all. They have this fire under control.

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lack of dark smoke, indicates that most of the fire is out and flammable liquids are producing the flames. The only SAFE solution is to continue the water to prevent reignition of the structure while the liquids burn away.
      The use of foam to smother the liquid fire, would create a death trap, ready to reignite, possibly explosively as soon as the foam broke down.
      Flammable liquids and gasses in a situation like this are only safe once they have burnt. When you think about it carefully, you will understand why.
      It is the same reason that when gas is burning on a fire ground, it is NEVER put out until the supply is cut off and only the exposures to the gas flame are protected. This prevents a build up of gas that would result in an explosion.
      Firefighting in an industrial situation requires a lot of science that is not obvious to the onlooker. Burying the problem in a pile of rubble won't make it go away.

      The building was a total loss from the start, so why close down all but 1 lane of the freeway? I would have to think if they were concerned about the freeway, they could have protected that from below the freeway.

    I work down the street. Homeless people have camps set up all over and they’ve been starting fires recently to stay warm as well as to “evict” people they don’t want around anymore.
    Also, all of these buildings have tons of extremely flammable materials. They’ve had us start walking all the way out of the parking lot and down the street to smoke cigarettes. That’s how flammable the materials are in this area! 😬

      In Mesquite Texas you by law have to be fifty feet from any commercial building to smoke It's for health reasons for those few who still smoke not to feed smoke to those who don't plus non smokers don't have to smell it going into a store.

    LA has what, the 2nd, 3rd largest department in the US? They sure look like an old school department. Lots of old school tiller type Arial ladders instead of Bucket and Tower ladders. I also feel sorry for them having to carry around full size fire axes on their belts. That's really got to be a pain in the ass, and actually somewhat dangerous. It's not like they don't have enough to carry around. Just saying. Man, look at that backed up traffic. I just can't imagine wanting to live in a place like this.
