    Tip 11: Be aware of your teammate’s level. If you are a level 9 Cinder, it’s NOT a good idea to run around and steal farm from your buddy, level 8 Charmeleon. You really need them to get to Zard and get that Unite. That is way more helpful for the team than you being a level 9 1/2 Cinder in that moment.

      Yep. I'll never understand the inter-team competition for xp, all circumstances being equal. It tells the other player, "You'll just waste this xp. Let me have it." Granted, there are times this is true and times where one player will need it more, but I've seen bad players aggressively steal xp from good players.

      I’ll be honest with you, I think a lot of that comes from a few content creators pushing that. Obviously not Spragels, but I’ve heard them say they will not give up farm to an underleveled pokemon because it’s not their fault that Pokémon got crushed in lane and is behind on levels. But I absolutely agree with you.

    Tip 10 is one of the most important. I had a game where one guy kept surrendering constantly, because people weren't following him (as a mid Blastoise). But then we won Zapdos and got 300-400 points. Just because you're personally dying doesn't mean it's your team's fault.

      So... a day or two ago, I was playing a match and we were winning but this one guy decided it was an amazing idea to try and surrender when I was only one on the jump pad as an opponent headed towards the goal. I was playing on mobile and accidentally jumped towards the top goal while trying to click the red button and yhe opponent scored 100pts.We lost the game by 80+ points

    • @Herik_
      @Herik_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Also there are games that really surrender is just saving time, I have been in games were the other 4 decide to go for first rotom instead of dreadnaw and still lose it to an opponent the 3 times it spawns and the opponent also winning the 3 dreadnaws, got the the zapdos with ball our goalzones destroyed and all of them still up and instead of going for zapdos they decide to start farming and we lose zapdos, so let’s be honest, there is no coming back from that

    I feel like it is fine to break the first ennemi goals in 2 cases, even with little value : to help you getting the drednaw because you cut their healing and you slow them down, it is especialy useful when you try to brun dred before the enemy team come back. The second case is when you are sure to get rotom, you have an ally with a lot of points but the enemy goal only has less than 20 points left. In that case, it feel better to break the first goal and try to push this rotom ro the second one so your ally can score a lot.

    • @durdurdurlerutte2875
      @durdurdurlerutte2875 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Also, I'm pretty sure the second goal-zone doesn't give any extra catchup exp, so breaking that is usually pretty good, especially because it opens up the last goal. After 5 minutes the jump pads spawn so it also gets really hard to score a lot of points into it, so unless there is a big opportunity to score a lot, I think it's fine to break it with only a few points.

      Surprised as I came back and have been pretty good but I somehow used that too without knowing! It's pretty good to get your Pokémon chose to a high level so you can get others faster.
      Tip 1 for anyone checking here: always use your two moves as a combo you can just get health down fast
      Tip 2: never continue hitting someone if they go with a big attack if they run away it is better to go unless they're low and you can just hit.
      Tip 3: make sure you know the stats of some and not overwork on every Pokémon in it.

    The best one for me was "Don't be so hard on yourself".
    Whenever I've had a bad match, or one where we lost because of some mistake I made, or there was something I should've done but didn't/couldn't, I'd start nagging myself in my head.
    I've even had a time where I felt like I'm slowly getting worse at the game.
    But okay, the meta does keep changing, mostly with the release of new mons, and the slow smoke buff brought a pretty significant change to people's playstyles too.
    Trying to make myself understand that I can control only 1/10th of the match, and one can easily make and repeat mistakes in a game like this.

    1. Other tips I would suggest is knowing lane matchups so players know how they should go about laning.
    2. Be aware, there is a mini map on the screen use it so one can understand what is happening in the game and where enemies or allies are. [ I glance over every few seconds. ] maybe hard because focus is shifted but its better so one doesn't get ganked by surprise.
    3. If an enemy jungle comes to lane play passive while trying to get exp. Defend because if one or both laners die thats a lot of turn in and exp lost. Again could be hard during matchups but dying is worse.
    4. Let those that evolve early, lvl 4-5 evolve first so it can help your lane a ton then funnel as much exp into your lane partner if they take exp to evolve, don't be greedy because lanes will suffer.
    5. Don't grief jungle because you died frame one in lane due to incompetence, you are hurting your jungle an in turn the team.
    6. If you are losing a lot take a break and comeback later. Judgement is clouded when one is tilted and sometimes its better to know when to take a break to come back stronger.
    :)

      For tip 6: usually when I lose 2 games one after the another I leave unless I really wanna play more. If I don't say "I really want another game" I'm better off, go watch some series, play another thing, even play other gamemodes outside ranked

      I'd like to see more videos that discuss this level of strategy. Knowing "lane matchups" sounds very important, but how can we learn about what is effective or not?

    • @manuelarocho8131
      @manuelarocho8131 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidsherman8382 I can give an example but it's mainly knowing what other characters can do and limits.
      A Sylveon in lane vs a Cram. Early on cram can cause issues for eevee and the eevee players needs to be careful with positioning and get farm as best they can safely.
      MAchop and Lucario, Lucario is a bit strong for Machop but can stand toe to toe if playing right and not in each others faces.
      Snorlax and Ninetails vs Charmander and Elde in lane. The Charmander and elde need to be aware they cannot be extremely aggressive against this for a bit.
      This is just a few random examples. Of course there are many combinations in lanes with characters that are hard and not. It takes time to learn and read others abilities.

    Great video. It seems that less and less players are calling lanes now. Don’t know why that is, but it should be done. Usually the one who doesn’t call a lane is going to steal the central area. If they just called central (Even if it’s a good 10 seconds after you called it) you could adjust and chose something else. On principle I don’t like doing that though.

    On number 10, yes- you do lose every game you surrender. You also have so, SO many ways to come back.
    BUT- as someone who has played MOBAs for probably 8000+ hours and played at the top level in different games, I think it's healthy to analyze the situation and accept it when it's not going to be a good time, even if you win it might increase your points but doesn't always increase your motivation (unless it's an epic and exciting comeback, but a lot of times they'll have this unsatisfying result or feeling) Winning more is a marathon, not a sprint so keeping yourself in a positive headspace can help you focus on improving yourself and working on the next game, and the game after.

  • @littlemysummer
    @littlemysummer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Maybe knowing your role also contributes to winning. If you are a supporter or defender Pokémon, try to give all the first few experience for your attackers and all-arounders so they can evolve faster. Also, know when your character receives a power spike. If you are an attacker/all-arounder who manage to get the power spike early on, give your supporter/defender a chance to evolve. Don't steal their kills.
    If you are in the top lane, take the very first Corphish spawn immediately. If you're in the bottom lane, kill the Audino. Both spawn in the middle of their lanes and you get a good headstart experience.

    Really good tips! There's of course exeptions to when it's alright to surrender.. If your team haven't broken any goals, and you don't have any left and you just lost zaptos, you might as well just surrender, but let's aim to never get that far down the dumps!

    As an old lol player, i want to add value to this moba guide :D
    - don't steal jungle farm, you deny a level to your velocist wich is very important for early ganks and objectives
    - bushes can make you strike first and win most of the time
    - camping is good but don't sit too much time
    - keep look at the minimap to decide the next move
    - as jungler, slay the pokemon in jungle that gives you the 2 buffs before going to zapdos.
    - know your pokemon and adapt to the match and teams, changing moves and items depending on your and enemy team.
    - as jungler f you're bigger than enemy jungler, you can try invade it and steal his farm. This is very effective if done correctly because you deny levels and make the next fight a potentially
    N vs N -0.5 ~ -1 power
    - a moba is made with "micro" , pokemon playstyle , and "macro" map strategy playing. Convert kills into objectives like dreadnaught zapdos and goals.
    - focus on your and not on your teammates mistake, accept your faults and work on them, so that you'll be the one that carry the games. Sometimes you'll be the one carried but you'll minimize the loss.
    Take what is good for you and have a nice game, ggwp.

    Learning to outskill a high defense opponent seems pretty crucial too, sometimes teams think a defender by itself keeps their goal safe and when you ko that goalie when the rest of the team is elsewhere you can unload on their goal for a good 30 seconds

    Awesome video Jake, also congrats on the 100k Subs! If I were to add 1 tip of my own I would say to Always keep an eye on your minimap, it gives so much information and can dramatically increase your game sense and help prioritize your next plan of action be it defense, setting up a push, or going on a farming trip.

    Another tip! Dont be the protagonist: if your pokemon doesn't fix the role, then stop trying to use it that way.
    If you are a defender, dont go out of your way to 1v3 the opponents. That's the job of an all-rounder.
    If you are a speedster, quit throwing yourself out in the frontlines with no support.
    Stop acting like a zoroark when you are a sableye
    LEARN what your pokemon is meant to do and stick to that nature.
    Snorlaxes don't protect allies
    They hinder opponents for those said allies to get free hits on em.
    If you are a spirit shackle, decidueye, you shouldn't be in the direct battleground. You need to stay back and do huge damage to the enemies without them getting the drop on you.
    If you are a zoroark, USE ILLUSION. Lower your opponents' gaurd for that split second before they realise that you aren't one of them.
    Use illusion for the invulnerable frames you get (which was added specifically for zoroark being the least bulky pokemon at the time)

    There's one huge tip I was really expecting to see, since even at Master rank I see people fail to do this all the time. If you're a Defender or Support (and *especially* if you have Exp. Share), let your buddy in lane get as much experience as possible early game. Don't steal the wild Pokemon kills from them! Trust me, having a fed Attacker and a lower level Support is gonna get you more kills than equal levels on both!

    It's incredibly hard NOT to surrender when we're behind AND teammates have made it clear they don't know what overextending is AND they refuse to listen to "gather here" calls for objectives
    And by incredibly hard I literally will ff5 if I see that from all my teammates lmao. idc how good you are, you cannot literally 1v9 when teammates aren't even there to soak damage/unites

    The thing about surrendering is what if you end up with teammates that legitimately DO NOT know what they're doing and are playing like they downloaded the game just yesterday. You can't necessarily win if you're teammates are playing like complete noobs, which they more than likely are.

    This might be one of the best videos you have. 😂 i’d like to add that these tips are NOT optional. Theyre a must! You cant be a good player, especially in solo queue, if you deliberately ignore even just one of this tips. Some of them are situational, yes. But completely ignoring these on ALL of the games will be detrimental to you as a player. Unite is s combination of skill, strategy, and luck, it’s very variable because of the luck part but at least if youre on the right strategy and good skills, theres a chance you can overcome the bad luck.

    Fun fact: I got confused when it said Drednaw gave us EXP at the past, I thought it gave us Aeos Points. Since it didn't give me or my team Aeos Points I considered Drednaw useless.
    Edit: Also look at the minimap! If your teammate is taking Rotom and they can take it alone, leave it so you can distract the upcoming enemies! Buying time for your teammates to do objectives like at 10:53 is a good practice, you never know if this can help you destroy a goal or get a level or two!

    On one hand, I agree that people try to surrender when the game is nowhere near over and there is plenty of chance to win. But some people have taken 'never surrender' a bit too far. It is frustrating when you're in a game that has been downhill from the start, you've lost Zap, the other team dunked a ton of points, and sure there is a minute+ remaining but you're down by several hundred points, there is no coming back, but still my random teammates refuse to surrender. I know it's only a minute, but it's still a waste of time that I could be using to move on to the next game that will hopefully go better.

    As self-congratulating as it can feel to have stuck it out, I've been part of teams where we lost all 4 goals at 7 minutes and 1-2 of my teammates were afk. Maybe this stops happening after great rank, but it's so demoralizing to sign up for 7 more minutes of griefing. And I've noticed these happen often enough to feel grateful for the surrender button.
    I think we're severely underestimating the number of players who do, in fact, want to learn, but don't want to "learn from every beating".
