You should only level your items up to 20 when you're new. Held items stop gaining additional effects at 20 and the difference between 20 to 30 is usually like, 10 attack out of hundreds. In addition, the item enhancer cost goes up exponentially.
Exceptions are items that stack linearly in stats. Shell Bell, Crit scope, crit claw, muscle band(although i dont know if they fixed the attack speed misinformation yet).
I leveled up Shell Bell, Focus Band and Assault Band for my Mamoswine. Combine that with alot of emblems to boost Health, Def and Sp. Def, throw on a Mamoswine and your have a great wall. Potions restoring a percentage of your HP is great if you have a fairly high HP, too. Do far it is my favorite build and I just got to Ultra. My emblem loadout is a WIP at the moment, trying to refine it atm and accidentally messed it up lol.

My only real complaints about unite are the fact that Unite Licenses cost a lot of coins, and are getting more expensive as time goes on. I also wish there was a free way to get gems so that it’s possible to get things like cosmetics that are locked behind gems. I get they want to make money, but it kinda sucks that free-to-play players like myself can’t get items like Holowear (plus the holowear that you can get from holowear tickets are kinda bad)
Yes. The only downside, tho, is that cosmetics are not game-enhancing. They are purely cosmetic, so there is no real incentive on even a controversial level.
@@777guy1 idk if you know this but; 1. they do not gain anything from making liscenses more expensive. If they increased the cost of gems, then they would earn more money. but Coins, the currency they are purposefully inflating, are what they are increasing the cost of when it comes to Pokemon. You can't buy coins at all, they're just doing it because they're little dipshits who can't do anything right 2. tencent owns 5-10 gacha games that have been around for years, on top of COD Mobile which in and of itself has become their main cash cow. IIRC, in 2020 cod mobile made nearly 10 million dollars alone...on top of their countless gacha games. tencent and TiMi are not your friends. they do not care for us. i have witnessed this firsthand when COD Mobile got away with multiple legitimate scams within a year of it being out.
@@heheboi366 be fr, the licenses are so expensive that you could only get like 1 or 2 pokemom each month, and since new pokemon are coming out its not very great
That ripple effects of that critical video are INSANE. People still call Unite P2W as a result and it's so funny because it couldn't be further from the truth
I'm not sure what dota allows in their economy so maybe they do something similar but I've never seen a moba where you can pay for real money and get months worth of work that give you an in game advantage. Wolfey says that grinding out the item upgrades is easier now so maybe as you say it is no longer a big deal. Just existing is a problem. Let players pay for all the skins and drip they want for their pokemon. The whole point of a moba is to be the better skilled team. This requires.... no demands a level playing field. MMR systems try to label you and rank you against others so that you do have a chance to win against similar opponents. Are you telling me if I make a new account and play a game maybe i'll be matched with newer players. Will some of those new players be smurfs? Probably. Can the smurf buy max items and play against new players who don't have that? Seems like it. The playing field is not even. Money gives advantages in some cases even if they are few so yeah it's just greedy design and to me says that they don't really give a shit about a healthy game community. So does that 40 dollar skin lol. The game can be fun and you can enjoy it. But don't defend bad game design practices. If you've been paying attention more and more games keep getting away with this and it's going to become common place because we let it and defend it. There were literally people paying 10s of thousands of dollars on diablo immortal because it made their characters better. I would rather the game be 5 bucks if they so desperately need the money. Everyone pays one price. Everyone gets the same stats and advantages.
@@glazed6178 The guy mentioned at the beginning of this vid, Spragels, has a series where he uses smurf accounts to climb to masters every season using literally no held items. The advantage you gain from high level held items is effectively meaningless if you and your team don't understand how the game works because you're all very new. This isn't even me defending the system, this is me stating that it makes no practical difference to a new player with zero meta knowledge because level 20/30 held items and high tier emblem builds aren't going to drastically alter how they play the game. Comparing this to DIablo Immortal is laughable because it costs approximately $0 to be competitive in Unite.
@@smexykins3065 because you literally do NOT win by paying any kind of money? Why is it so hard to understand? Yes, you can pay to get some "advantages". But it's like 1% more attack that will never be a decisive factor in any situation ever.
I don't think I've since a reception for a game take a complete 180 this quickly from the first trailer to release. Also, the reason why Pokemon like Lucario and Mr. Mime didn't have their pre-evolutions is because they're Baby Pokemon.
i still Riolu is still one of the weirdest baby pokemon out there. Every single other baby Pokemon was introduced in generations after the other ones, but Riolu was in the very same generation as Lucario. To me, the only reason I feel like Riolu is classified as a baby pokemon is simply so they can push Lucario in more games faster
That's such a dumb reason, they're still pre-evolutions. And don't use the excuse that they evolve via friendship, they have Sylveon playable in the game.
Even though I kinda don’t enjoy Unite that much, I’m so happy that Crustle has got some attention in this game. (He’s my 3rd favourite Pokémon) Also the cake skin is the best thing I’ve ever seen Also wtf who calls Decidueye Dekidewey
The same guy who pronounces Cinderace “Cinderachi”. It’s somehow more painful than Arceus and Rayquaza being mispronounced. (And I mean the “ay” sound in rayquaza and the hard c in arceus)
Yes, the game is in a much better spot than Zapdos era, he should've talked more about the new map and new meta because quite a few of his criticisms are outdated
@@lordninetails514 I mean I just got back into it and hit Masters with lane Greninja against those Pokemon a few days ago. Also they were recently nerfed, though Mime is still crazy. I am so excited that Zoroark, my favorite Pokémon, is coming later this month. When it was first leaked, I got the game on my switch and started grinding to be able to afford it when it becomes available to purchase without money.
Honestly, it isn’t that bad. It is well developed and the choices of Pokémon added are much better than expected. It made me like Pokémon like crustle and eldegoss much more. Wouldn’t say it’s underrated though because it can be annoying, but so can games like geometry dash and fall guys

We really needed this after the "pay to win" youtube vids. Thanks for dropping this. There's a couple things that you left out that make starting the game even more player friendly like the 3 level 30 item enhancers that max out 3 items permanently and also that you don't get huge gains past level 20 on most items, but this video at least paints the right picture. Hoping this game continues to grow bc I love it.
Honestly this made me consider giving it a try. I never gave it a try because the mineralization looked so fucking offensive, despite being a league player of 10+ years
I remember not wanting to try the game out at launch due to hearing about it being pay to win and not being a huge MOBA guy in general. Fast forward to a family New Years party, my uncle pestered me to try it out and I acquiesced. Didn't expect to have as much fun as I did, and since then it has become one of my most played games as of late. Not a perfect game, but much better than one might expect.

Absol wasn’t really that good before the Psycho Cut rework. The only thing it had going for it was a decent early game and a fast jungle clear to counter Skwovet/Greedent.
Actually when the game first realised Players on TH-cam had tier list videos and they had put Absol on the c tier. Because Absol was my favourite Pokemon i dicided to risk it and i unlocked it immediately after i got the coins. I had played lol since its beginnings so when i used Absol for the first time i was shocked at how broken it was. Fast forward a one or two weeks and every tier list updated Absol to s tier. So even without a patch thinks always change. Even with the new nerds Absol is still a good pick.
The meta has completely shifted, and the boost emblems have been nerfed. Rayquaza has made it so that you can better defend your goals from your enemies since they each have a score shield that is tied to their health. so you go after the squishy pokemon.
While a lot of characters were definitely OP on release, a large chunk of newly released characters suffered from the opposite problem. They were too bad on release. Mamoswine and Trevenant were widely criticized upon their release for not doing enough damage, and Azumarill, Espeon and now more recently Scizor all released as low or bottom tiers
Appreciate the effort and acknowledging this game because it is my favourite, but this map is completely different unless you're playing a standard in the old map. Completely different map, buffs, spawns, RAYQUAZA. Still thank you for giving this game the light it deserves.
This is a better representation of unite than the Mr whos the boss review. Hes literally representing the P2W side of the game, and yet stills don't know where to go even tho its been a year for unite. And certain strategies have been discovered already for every character it the game, except the new ones. At this point unite is doing us a favor on punishing the people who pays their way in games by just having huge cost on items that you should not pay money on.
@@anddresaragundi Too simple compared to what? Compared to Dota and LOL? yeah it is too simple if that's your comparison but compared to other genres outside MOBA? Oh please. You got to be kidding.
KOing Zapdos (Raquaza as of now) has been reworked to give you much less significant advantage now, no more instant scoring. So much so that split scoring is advisable now. Crazy, I know.
Honestly Pokemon Unite amazes me with its glow-up, though I kinda wish there was more quality-of-life, the "out of battle" effects reduces to three seconds, a seasonal rotation of holowear in the ticket shop, and options to spend tickets and exchange emblems, and then it's kinda just all I need
Ok I’m terrified. I just re downloaded this game and played it with a friend for a while. Hoped onto TH-cam and I find this video an hour ago. Wolfe, are you in my walls?
Pretty good analysis. I love Pokemon Unite despite it being a decent game, it's a lot of fun for many of the reasons you point out. With that, I'm confused why you focused so intently on Remoat Stadium without acknowledging the new map Theia Sky Ruins has been much more balanced and removed the Zapdos win con gimmick. Remoat Stadium is playable, but no longer the current standard of the game
I'm pretty sure they might be stopping the purposeful OP release for new Pokemon. The newest Pokemon as of recent have been kind of underwhelming (Scizor especially), and although Clefable seems to be very scary in the PTS, I think its immense power isn't deliberate like previous mons power was.
The game came out and wasn't friendly with it's monetisation Then it got *A LOT* BETTER. Recently though new characters have gotten really expensive with coins, hopefully won't get any higher.
16:00 well that might be true in some cases but recently the Pokemon that are being released in Pokemon unite aren't crazy strong in release ( buzzwole, dodrio, scizor ) but some were crazy broken too ( i am so happy that ttar got nerfed )
The only problem I have is that final meta comment involves lucario and blissey. Maybe while it was being written, but if you watch Spragels, we all know it's Mr. Mime, Gengar, Mew, and Glaceon that rule the meta right now. But it's such a solid game. I love playing it. I got my girlfriend into it and we play together. I love the revolving meta (though if Gengar could get a permanent nerf to balance him out, I'd be happier). And the fact that I'm maining Azumarill right now is something I never thought I'd say ever.
As someone who what’s played pokemon unite since launch a big tip I have for anyone who doesn’t want to spend money is to just find a modest character that you like because odds are it won’t be nerfed and you can become consistent with a character like that
i love this game so much, I'm grateful that so many people feel the same way! i wish the custom skins were a bit cheaper, seems like they should cost about 1/4 to 1/2 as much as they are now. you also forgot to mention that leveling a held item past 20 (which getting from 20 to 30 is like 5x the item enhancers you need to get from 1 to 20) doesn't really change much about most items, except maybe muscle band and scope lens for two very different reasons: muscle band's auto attack cooldown reduction only works when it's past a certain threshold which is different for different pokemon, i think it's because they only programmed in so many basic attack animation lengths. whereas scope lens is an item with no effect except crit rate enhancement, which is entirely linear with what level the item is at, so level 9 to level 10 has just as big of an impact as level 29 to level 30. i think maybe the held items got nerfed? because they don't seem to be very OP anymore, and I'm someone who joined maybe three months ago and have never spent a cent on leveling up items or anything like that, just unite licenses and a few of the 120-gem (~$2) skins. i managed to maintain a >2/3 winrate for three months without spending one red cent on iten enhancers. i would really love to see the smash community or top VGC players or some other video game community doing a big pokemon unite tournament, like the "smasher's gambit" chess tournament at smash summit a few years back, it's absolutely delightful to see people i know from VGC like you, people i know from melee like mang0 or lucky, people i know from ultimate like VoiD, etc. playing another one of my favorite games and having so much fun with it. this game rocks.
Some of this is very outdated sadly, hoopa isnt around nearly as often on the new map, and im surprised you didnt talk about how dodrio/scizor were available as GEMS ONLY for a solid week before they were able to be bought with coins, which is a very predatory thing for them to do, thankfully they werent oppressive like mew was.
I definitely have to play Unite for only a few games at a time otherwise I'll start raging at my teammates however I find the game hilarious as a Wigglytuff support main because, depending on my opponents, I can end up in 1v1 fights against an attacker or all rounder and end up winning because they aren't prepared for Doubleslap/Sing
I really enjoyed my romp with Pokémon Unite but the problem is there are so many other games competing for my time. It’s a respectable MOBA though and anyone who loves that style of game should check it out.
I'm just happy an alternative take on Pokemon has seen such success. MOBAs aren't my scene, but perhaps since this branch-out worked well, they'll branch out into another genre I am fond of.
Great video but I would actually argue that the game needs more frequent balance patches. There will be stretches of time where a few mons will be legitimately broken without any signs of fixing them
Fuck. the begging got me. I haven't actually played a pokemon game since Gen 3, but by that point, it had already overwritten that part of my brain that recognizes animals, so it's stayed on my periphery. I enjoy Wolfey's personality and some of his wideos get a chuckle out of me, but historically not enough to deem them relevent enough for subscribing, but the begging won me over. you earned it, my dude.
The item leveling system is why most mobas have their items purchased in a match rather than before hand. Being able to have top tier items before the match sets the balance way off, and it ruins the chance to experiment because you have to grind matches with a sub-optimal set just to be able to get back the resources to upgrade the optimal set. If instead the currency was during the match and you bought items at spawn, you can experiment during just a single match and go back the next game without needing to grind, and everyone starts off with the same base tier items for a more balanced game.
Literally this video released and is already outdated xD Now Rayquaza exists, Hoopa isn't meta anymore, Dragonite either, Tyranitar is just meh and Mr. Mime is destroying everything How did that happened in just like... One month?!
I'm surprised that you didn't bring up Rayquaza which smashed Zapdos onto the ground. Even AI can focus to death kamakazi scoring attempts if you try to treat it like the Zapdos scoring bonus, IMO
Although on a break right now, the game's improved quite a bit. Still has its flaws, Garchomp is still depressing to play bar a few rare occasions for one but overall enjoyable until you lose to teammates 3 games in a row haha.
I did well in launch. Speedran through the ranks, but didn't want to invest more time and effort into the game because of the p2w aspect. Wolfey being a competitive minded player should understand it well enough that it's not very satisfying game to play if you can't play on a even playfield with other players because they swiped and you didn't.
I came into unite as someone who had already been playing dota 2 for about 9 years at the time and was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty simplistic compared to what I was used to, sure, but that was kind of a nice accessibility and charm. Then around 2 months after the release I stopped playing and haven't touched it since cause I got bored of the simplicity lol. Well, that and got tired of how little teamwork there was and the frequency of afk or just outright bad teammates. Sometimes consider going back to try unite again, but at the end of the day I just much prefer dota. Still, if you don't want your mobas to take 600 hours to achieve baseline competency, then unite seems a pretty good choice, and it got some of my more casual friends to put quite a bit of time into it.
It's really not like making a game NOT pay-to-win is particularly hard. If you have a PvP multiplayer video game, never make something that you can buy with money able to make your character stronger. And don't make any characters that you can buy objectively, statistically better than others. That second one is admittedly harder to do than the first, especially when you end up with dozens, or even hundreds of characters, but seriously, it is ASTONISHING how often companies do the first one so shamelessly, decade after decade.
Two things, one: Mamoswine with Aeos Cookie, Muscle Band, Weakness Policy, Icicle Crash, Earthquake, Potion, and a boost emblem set that gives you 6 white, 2 blue, 2 purple can solo top lane up to 3 opponents, just a build for y'all Second, it would be cool if we got new maps based off other regions, with the Rotom/Drednaw/Zapdos changing to be legendaries from that region and the wild Pokémon also matching
I actively played Unite for the entire first year, but now I've barely been playing it because I'm kind of bored of the game and its way more grindy to get the newer Pokémon (who made Dodrio, Tyranitar and Scizor 14K and decided you have to play *45 quick battle and at least 10 standard/ranked battles* for Mew)
@@bzibubabbzibubab420 I, at max, play 3 battles a day. And theres days I don't even battle. So it possible to finish the event withouth grinding it to much
Mime had a scary reign of terror when you consider it could defeat almost any pokemon solo, but right now, I think Buzzwole might be a slight issue, the leech life drain is busted, but Mew solar beam at level 1 is broken in the hands of any decent player.
I remember being happy about the trailer. My then boyfriend loved mobas and I thought it would be a game we could play together since lol was way too hard for me to pick up. He never played long though. And playing alone felt not satisfying enough, so I stopped. Nearly a year later and after we broke up I just randomly decided to play again. And I fell in love with it (again?) Soon after I got back into the game, espeon was added. And espeon is one of my very favourite pokemon. I think the game can still improve a lot of stuff. But I am also very happy about the improvements that already happened. More diverse objectives outside of the matches, more creative characters, more fun game modes... But I think there are some things that will never be perfect. Like the balancing. buzzwhole for example. I heard many people say it really needed the recent buff, while I felt like it was an unkillable bug since release. (Never played it, only fought it) Matchmaking is another thing. I feel like every moba like game gets criticised for it. But I don't mind the matchmaking at all. I think I get a fair amount of games where I have higher ranked players and games where I am the highest ranked player. It feels evenly mixed. Afk players. Since I started playing on mobile I have way more compassion for afk players. Sometimes I just lose connection (not due to the game) and have to wait until I can rejoin the fight. That's because the only time I really get to play is while commuting from and to school. I get lag spikes on my way and walk into walls. I miss what lanes got called because the bus arrived earlier than anticipated. I don't try to make my team lose and I give it my all and I want to win. It just happens to be that life gets in the way sometimes. I also have more understanding for giving up early. Sometimes when I get tilted because of problems with my teammates, I just have no fun anymore. It's not fun being left behind not bei g supported to score or just plainly being griefed by your teammates. I dislike matches like that and ask for surrendering early, if we also happen to be losing. I think this game gets a lot of bad rep for the wrong reasons. I think a free to play game has every right to make cosmetics pricey. Even if its "for kids" (I think unite is more for teens) The energy lottery doesn't even come close to a loot box and the medals are nice and fun to collect. Pokemon unite is special to me. I never had a moba so cute and fun and easy to play. There is no toxic chat putting you down and there is not a mountain of things to know to have fun. And it's pokemon. So far for my thoughts. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
I totally agree with you!, I'm a competitive WoW (multi rank1 glad) player and ive always hated Moba games..2 many things to learn, items , chars , i was cba.. but pkmn unite ?! Its easy to get into , super fun and its pokemon! My first rpg love!! I main machamp btw and ive set my eyes to buzzwole... Since it murdered me .. and its swole! Muscles ftw!! Funny enough im a powerlifter irl so thats why my choices i guess lol.
As someone who jumped into Unite around the first anniversary, the insinuation that this game was ever P2W is so funny to me. Players across all ranks play so poorly and suboptimally that the level of your held items ends up being one of the least important parts of the game, along with emblems. Level 30 items and gold emblem builds aren't going to save you from getting paired up with people who have the worst macro/micro awareness you've ever seen. My biggest issue with the game right now, aside from matchmaking, is the coinflation coupled with the weekly coin cap. I'm in the middle of a two week break right now because you get more coins from not playing for 14 days than you do for completing the daily and weekly rewards. 🥴Make it make sense.
wolfy i feel like you should have tried to put this video out faster seeing how you said yourself, the game changes very fast, and these past 3 months the game changed A WHOLE LOT MORE than usual because of the new map, the ton of anniversary mon releases,, the emblems , and the patches it came with it. you didnt even mentioned how zapdos and dreadnaught being gone completely changed the game.
My experience with Unite: Downloaded it last week, started of with a Pikachu since I heard he is really good. Win 2 games in a row in regulars and wondering why the hell electroball is so powerful. Game throws money at me for various easy challenges I done, and I decide to look what's in store. I had money to buy any pokemon, and I chose without even looking up how good he is: Garchomp. Why him? He is my absolute favorite pokemon. So far, I build myself a comfortable for me build where I play very aggressively, killing players left and right and scoring a lot of points. Unlocked quite a few pokemon, even tho I don't use many of them. 42 (29 of them as Garchomp) battles, 3 loses (one of them beacuse of disconect). Most of the games I am the mvp. And I didn't even once lost while playing as a Garchomp. I am not disappointed in my pick
Pikachu is too easy to use for too much dmg you don’t even need to aim cause all of pikachu skill is automatically locked and follow into the target which render most of the movement pokemon basically helpless if pikachu has teammate nearby
Just level 20 your items instead of max. The majority of the boost caps at 20, and it takes about 5× the investment to get to 30 rather than 20, which will allow you to test the majority of an item's functionality much more easily before committing to a full investment. Personally, I chose to bring every item to 20 before bringing anything to 30.
im only a casual player and ive never played a game like this before, but I've been having tons of fun in standard and quick matches, as well as completing the challenges
Only problem with players is that Aeos Gems cost money, there should be a free way to get them like Holowear Tickets, also the Holowear for the tickers really sucked as heck the only good one is the Talon Flame one
honestly, when I saw the unite trailer, I instantly had LoL flash backs hard, I really didnt want to play the game, but when I got into it, I got into it so much, and I got invested by the quick play and the neat builds and mons (mamoswine main forever man!)
The entire problem is the Developer team's issue with balancing pokemon. They just can't seem to do it at all. And there's more incentive instead to add more pokemon and not fix anything. That's where resource is going to. Pay cosmetics and new pokemon. So for very long periods nothing is done to properly balance game. Making everyone play the same thing and use the same items. And I'm out to play something else.
Tyranitar WAS nerfed LOL, it's still good because it's the pokemon that deals the most true damage by FAR a couple things i wanted to say bc this is more of a video of its history than what it is now - hoopa was nerfed so it's not on every team now. it would be on every rank game and it was soo boring - the growth of items drop drastically after level 20 so there's no need to upgrade most more than level 20. especially because it's so expensive past lvl 20 too. an exception would be scope lens because it increases crit rate - baby pokemon arent allowed as playable characters so pokemon like lucario and mr mime begin fully evolved. clefable was recently released so it begins as clefairy - zapdos is no longer the official spawn at 2 minutes. it's been replaced with rayquaza who gives the team who defeated it a giant score shield that increases their score speed. much easier to defend than zapdos, especially with pokemon who deal true damage (ignores shields, targeting their hp, so it stops their score) - some pokemon are being released UNDERPOWERED now, which is funny. they are buffed accordingly holowear arent locked to gacha, they can also be purchased with currency that they give you WAY too much of. i have hundreds of it.. some negative things include that pokemon now are releasing at 15k aeos coins instead of 10k?? :/ the amount of aeos gems (premium currency) they cost are the same as the 10k pokemon of course, LOL. also, now the first week a pokemon is released they cost aeos gems ONLY. im STILL waiting to buy clefable 😭😭 will update if i find anything else. i love this game and hope some of you do too :D

You should only level your items up to 20 when you're new. Held items stop gaining additional effects at 20 and the difference between 20 to 30 is usually like, 10 attack out of hundreds. In addition, the item enhancer cost goes up exponentially.

They have to make money somehow. Developers cant eat with free. Also the coins are pretty easy to get just do the quests which there are a lot of
@@777guy1 idk if you know this but;
1. they do not gain anything from making liscenses more expensive. If they increased the cost of gems, then they would earn more money. but Coins, the currency they are purposefully inflating, are what they are increasing the cost of when it comes to Pokemon. You can't buy coins at all, they're just doing it because they're little dipshits who can't do anything right
2. tencent owns 5-10 gacha games that have been around for years, on top of COD Mobile which in and of itself has become their main cash cow.

There is another one recently by mrwhostheboss. It's really unfortunate to see these misinformed videos deter new players from trying the game.
Buying upgrades with real money to skip the grind is pay to win by definition lmao what kinda cope is this
@@glazed6178 The guy mentioned at the beginning of this vid, Spragels, has a series where he uses smurf accounts to climb to masters every season using literally no held items.

8:22 this is what all youtubers should do. Wolfey is too honest for his own good

It’s probably because this video was made before the new map released
It’s also funny because most of the supporters and all rounders he talked about have fallen out of the meta. (Rest in pepperonis Hoopa lol)
The game came out and wasn't friendly with it's monetisation
Then it got *A LOT* BETTER.
Recently though new characters have gotten really expensive with coins, hopefully won't get any higher.
What do you mean it's a completely free game they have to make money, do u not want to support something you play everyday?
You didn't really make a good arguement in the pay to win section. "It's not pay to win, it's pay to skip the grind"... So it's pay to win

As someone who what’s played pokemon unite since launch a big tip I have for anyone who doesn’t want to spend money is to just find a modest character that you like because odds are it won’t be nerfed and you can become consistent with a character like that
Remember when Pokemon Unite was first announced it got booed!
Although it's made by Tencent and for that I avoid Unite.
i love this game so much, I'm grateful that so many people feel the same way!
i wish the custom skins were a bit cheaper, seems like they should cost about 1/4 to 1/2 as much as they are now.
you also forgot to mention that leveling a held item past 20 (which getting from 20 to 30 is like 5x the item enhancers you need to get from 1 to 20) doesn't really change much about most items, except maybe muscle band and scope lens for two very different reasons: muscle band's auto attack cooldown reduction only works when it's past a certain threshold which is different for different pokemon, i think it's because they only programmed in so many basic attack animation lengths. whereas scope lens is an item with no effect except crit rate enhancement, which is entirely linear with what level the item is at, so level 9 to level 10 has just as big of an impact as level 29 to level 30.
i think maybe the held items got nerfed? because they don't seem to be very OP anymore, and I'm someone who joined maybe three months ago and have never spent a cent on leveling up items or anything like that, just unite licenses and a few of the 120-gem (~$2) skins. i managed to maintain a >2/3 winrate for three months without spending one red cent on iten enhancers.
i would really love to see the smash community or top VGC players or some other video game community doing a big pokemon unite tournament, like the "smasher's gambit" chess tournament at smash summit a few years back, it's absolutely delightful to see people i know from VGC like you, people i know from melee like mang0 or lucky, people i know from ultimate like VoiD, etc. playing another one of my favorite games and having so much fun with it. this game rocks.
There will be stretches of time where a few mons will be legitimately broken without any signs of fixing them
I started playing this game some time at the beginning of the year. I’ve enjoyed a lot of the time I’ve put into it. My first and probably only moba.
Fuck. the begging got me.
Literally this video released and is already outdated xD
Now Rayquaza exists, Hoopa isn't meta anymore, Dragonite either, Tyranitar is just meh and Mr. Mime is destroying everything
How did that happened in just like...
Garchomp is never good from release, so sad

@@cyanconure I play garchomp and carry games also trevenant taking on the entire enemy team
I love Unite! I would live to see you make more Unite content Wolfey
Two things, one: Mamoswine with Aeos Cookie, Muscle Band, Weakness Policy, Icicle Crash, Earthquake, Potion, and a boost emblem set that gives you 6 white, 2 blue, 2 purple can solo top lane up to 3 opponents, just a build for y'all
Second, it would be cool if we got new maps based off other regions, with the Rotom/Drednaw/Zapdos changing to be legendaries from that region and the wild Pokémon also matching
I never played those quick battles for Mew. You can always leave 1 mission for each tablet ;-)

Bruh u didn't really play 45 games lol
@@bzibubabbzibubab420 I, at max, play 3 battles a day. And theres days I don't even battle. So it possible to finish the event withouth grinding it to much
Absol deals a thousand damage with or without held items, especially not leftovers.
Trevenent actually got buffed after a while, since it was kinda bad on release.
And I fell in love with it (again?)
Soon after I got back into the game, espeon was added.
(Never played it, only fought it)
Matchmaking is another thing.
Even if its "for kids" (I think unite is more for teens)
The energy lottery doesn't even come close to a loot box and the medals are nice and fun to collect.
Pokemon unite is special to me. I never had a moba so cute and fun and easy to play. There is no toxic chat putting you down and there is not a mountain of things to know to have fun. And it's pokemon.

Wolfey I love you and your content.... But your early Lucario section was using Power up punch not Espeed
i love pokemon unite
luckily, the new map solves a lot of issues with unite
I love how he exemplifies the “And he’s just good at video games” with a clip from his mr krabs overdoses on ketamine record
no, the squirrel exists
mission failed, squirrel remains
"The Squirrel is real!"

I just run in there with Greninja, no items, and I just kill everything. It works really well surprisingly

17:04 What's a "De-key-do-e"
Only one of the best pokemon in existence!
im only a casual player and ive never played a game like this before, but I've been having tons of fun in standard and quick matches, as well as completing the challenges
I love pokemon unite
Only problem with players is that Aeos Gems cost money, there should be a free way to get them like Holowear Tickets, also the Holowear for the tickers really sucked as heck the only good one is the Talon Flame one
I mean, I liked Unite. It isn’t perfect, but I enjoy it.
honestly, when I saw the unite trailer, I instantly had LoL flash backs hard, I really didnt want to play the game, but when I got into it, I got into it so much, and I got invested by the quick play and the neat builds and mons (mamoswine main forever man!)
The Unite content creator community and Wolfey coming together being an entire counter to Mrwhostheboss 💅✨
i'll be honest, i didn't know Wolfey knew this much about competitive play for a spinoff game, although i'm not complaining
I disagree.
Ligma balls
This game is special, it is one game which does not always make u win even if u reach max rank or level, thats what keeps us going 😂
Tyranitar WAS nerfed LOL, it's still good because it's the pokemon that deals the most true damage by FAR
a couple things i wanted to say bc this is more of a video of its history than what it is now
- hoopa was nerfed so it's not on every team now. it would be on every rank game and it was soo boring
- the growth of items drop drastically after level 20 so there's no need to upgrade most more than level 20. especially because it's so expensive past lvl 20 too. an exception would be scope lens because it increases crit rate
- baby pokemon arent allowed as playable characters so pokemon like lucario and mr mime begin fully evolved. clefable was recently released so it begins as clefairy
- zapdos is no longer the official spawn at 2 minutes. it's been replaced with rayquaza who gives the team who defeated it a giant score shield that increases their score speed. much easier to defend than zapdos, especially with pokemon who deal true damage (ignores shields, targeting their hp, so it stops their score)
- some pokemon are being released UNDERPOWERED now, which is funny. they are buffed accordingly
holowear arent locked to gacha, they can also be purchased with currency that they give you WAY too much of. i have hundreds of it..
some negative things include that pokemon now are releasing at 15k aeos coins instead of 10k?? :/ the amount of aeos gems (premium currency) they cost are the same as the 10k pokemon of course, LOL. also, now the first week a pokemon is released they cost aeos gems ONLY. im STILL waiting to buy clefable 😭😭
will update if i find anything else. i love this game and hope some of you do too :D
7:52 this is relatable, I maxed 3 sp attacks item for my decidyeue before realizing he was physical
I'll always feel bad for a competitive player 'Zachary', originally a competive smash player who got into unite and missed his chance at worlds due to a teammate sleeping through their qualifying match.
