Like a kid in a candy store when you find a trash bin!!
I'm just like that too! xD
A friend of mine from Bolivia - his family owned one of the biggest Styrofoam businesses. He was supposed to take over the business around 15-20 years ago.
After I told him about clay, he transitioned the business over the coarse of 10 year to clay !
Seeing this now, makes me feel I advised him well :)
Good. Styrofoam is bad for the environment.
Laura and Felix digging throught the metal scraps is so funny and I have a feeling it describes their relationship very well ^^
I love the chemistry between Laura and Felix. It is almost like a brother-sister dynamic, or at least really close cousins
"IT'S SO TANGIBLE." This is such a succint, beautiful description of the whole process!
So amazing that you can make so many colors with basically just clay. No crazy chemicals. It will feel amazing to live in a home where so much care was chosen to use sustainable materials
Wow that donut kiln. Building walls and tearing them down what a story.
Shopping in a garbage bin seems to be Laura and Felix's happy place!
The factory is amazing!
Hugs from 🇨🇦
One of your best videos. So fun. I am so jealous of Felix and Laura's friendship. They are so compatible. So lucky they found each other. We should all be so lucky.
So glad you found this great company. Lise Lotte deserved this after such poor materials she carried…these natural material is a blow of fresh air. What may seem going back in history I believe is going forward into a more sustainable and promising future. I was one of the many who suggested “go natural” and I am so happy you are able to accomplish that in spite of all the difficulties, frustration and tears. Thank you for your perseverance and strength. Congratulations. Always eager to following your mammoth job of renovating a historic house! . Sending love from Argentina 💖
Its so nice to see felix and laura having fun with the trash
I know this is not the intention at all (I swear I appreciate the making too!), but your videos are really great for practicing listening to everyday German (which of course often does not sound exactly like the formal language taught in textbooks).
Yes, it’s so geil!
Hammer
@@granolasoos tbh I don't think I've said geil in about 20 years, but other than that, it's probably good practice.
heaven is looking at workshops and scrounging bins of junk!🦌💌❤️👍
this place is amazing ! it's like a living museum, it's so cool !
Having just watched another home renovation vlog that featured gross waste of resources I really appreciate how to try to reuse as much material as possible in your house and make use of sustainable materials while still maintaining the aesthetic you want.
You, Felix, & trash ... too funny 😂 ❤
YOU AND FELIX ALWAYS HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!!!😂💞
What a nice field trip. I love seeing you guys get so excited about a product you've discovered and using in your house project. Very nice to give credit and attention to a company that takes such pride in their product and company.
That's amazing.. when I lived in Germany, I have driven past this building a million times and always wondered what they do.
That was such a fun video, back to old scool Laura Kampf, where sometimes not much gets accomplished but we all learn along the way and explore something we never would have thought of.
The tour was super cool! I'm thankful the company allowed all that access. And thank you for sharing 😊
Fascinating thank you for showing this amazing company
The yosima thing, i think i remember seeing something like this on a Japanese reno channel, it's an amazing thing, really eco friendly and helps with humidity and temperature control inside the house. It would be really cool if something like this came to Brazil in an affordable price
I drive past the claytech factory all the time and I always have to think of your videos... Amazing stuff they do
Ha ha ha loved the banter at the trash bin. And wow, the circular fire and walk building process is mind-blowing to think about. Thanks for sharing the clay process with us and their workshop is awesome, yes 🔥💯
What an awesome place, so cool.
Good morning All!☀️
Thanks for the interesting tour. It always makes me cheerful to see people making things they feel good about.
I love clay. I think Liselotte will be a very awsome house, feeling wise. I love that you priciate this little manufakture so much.
Thank you for introducing us to all these natural building/reno materials, Laura. Though Yosima is not available in the US, after some intense research we found another American company providing natural clay plaster. Can't wait to see how it works out in our bathroom project 🙂
Have you found the clay panels from her other videos? I'm looking for clay panels in US. If not clay panels what substrate are you putting the plaster over?
The available colors are really, really nice. Very warm and inviting. Would love to work with this product some day.
Your joy digging through scrap is so relatable to me! My face hurts from smiling so log and hard, as it often does when watching your videos.

So cool and sustainable... In few months back in LA trying to cool a metal box in the desert with an ac.
These Hoffman Kilns are so cool! We have a few still standing in North Wales from the limestone quarrying.
love the dumpster dive 🤩
I really REALLY wish they had this in the United States 😢
I love the gasket that holds the bucket handle while it is in the mixer. ❤
Danke schön
What a cool place! 🤩 I'm so glad you are able to support such a great business.
Great video! I love seeing passionate people.
Also really liked having more german speaking. I'm currently learning german and it really helps to hear other people speaking it when you're interested in what they have to say too.
W O W ❤
The property I’m renovating was birthed in 1900. This technique is remarkable. Though not applicable here is inspirational to thinking outside the box to seek interesting options.
Like, bought a planner to renew the vintage trim for repurpose in other ways. Like, in the entrance along the steps. Similar to a previous vid using old flooring.
Thank you for SO much inspiration to rethinking options 😁
Such a great experience! And a wonderful product.
If you like new tech, try out the new wooden bullet guns Laura. Love the application these wooden nails can be used to be part of the "look" of the piece.
6:16 Laura decides to rebuild her LA workshop...
claytec is the best! we love to work with them.
What county are you located? Do they ship out of Germany?
I've been in workshops where there is this buzz. Big difference between just doing it well and doing it because you are in deep.
This is an amazing company !
Hey, what is the durability of this product like? I would love to see a video showing how well the product, after it sets up, handles day to day life. AKA: If you lean against a wall are you going to end up with clay dust on you, can you hang things off of it and if so what kind of hardware is needed (nail, dry wall anker, command strips, etc.), how does it hold up to impact (moving furniture, tripping and using the wall the steady yourself, kids, etc.), can the wall be cleaned/wiped down (dropped glass of wine and it gets on the wall, food splatter while cooking, kids, etc.), will the wall shed clay dust, how well does the product handle patches/repairs?
If you do decide to do a video, it would be cool to see it compared against other wall treatments (dry wall, lath and plaster, etc.)
Thanks for taking us along to that historic business. We learned do much and it's good to see old ways being valued utilized when possible. You all are great on the job and as creative content people.looking forward to tape measure holder....heck where is my tape measure anyway ?
The product they make, at Clay tech, is so amazing 👍😊 great and informative video, Laura 😊👍
This is great insight to the process. Thankyou Laura
Love that hat tricks! 😁
Love all the measuring ❤
So cool!
They will love the tape mate, as I love mine.
That is amazing!! 🎉
Fun tour Laura
that lath and clay wall section in the "workshop/test" area made my inner electrician cry a little
good video i love this stuff
Thank you for the tour of Claytec. So interesting! The machine that mixes the clay is a lot like a the shaker they use for mixing paint.
loved it
Schönes Video, made my Sunday more a funday.
Fantastic
This is a realy cool company... I actually already looked up if they still need a fabricator somewhere whil watching the video because i think working for them would be a great experience! xD
that was great
Fun and interesting video.❤❤
This moment, when you read subtitles in english while people talk in your native language... WHY do I read the subtitles? 🤣
Thanks!
Very cool video!
Great video!
You've got me loving clay too and I'm a programmer!
I guess coding is a bit like "playing with clay", squeezing and squishing the code until things work..... :)
I can see why you love that company. As you said, it's "tangible." Another word would be "holistic".
Companies like that are wonderful!
Love your videos 😍
Hello Felix 💕
Super geil
I want to see more stuff on that ring oven, someone has videos on those style of ovens ?
Yay
❤❤❤
It may help you or not, but in the F2 menu, you can unbind either of the build info menus, I don't like the wheel one so I unbinded it! Also with the bar, you could use the wall blocks rather than rails or catwalks.....
❤
Laura, I think you would absolutely love a visit to Will Stanwix in the UK - he's not only the nicest person but he's the only person I know that shares my extreme level of excited curiosity around being a human and building with natural materials. Would love to see you explore his own builds, his crazy clay & hemp equipment stash, and his local traditional yet innovative brickworks.
I love this so much - businesses that are not transactional.
hype
😊 💜
It is always cool to get to explore a place like that. To get a peek into how and why they do things. That workshop looked awesome.
Question: What are the plans for the house when it is finished? Will you be living in it part time, and the rest of the time in L.A.?
👍
Hey, could you make the translation text a bit bigger? Even on my iPad, I have a hard time reading it (even with my glasses) sometimes.
How did you get Laura out of the Workshop at ClayTec? :-D
They tell her there was a trash bin outside ...
👍🏼👍🏼
Does claytec deliver/have distribution in the US?
I am trying to put clay panels in my house in Minnesota, USA and I'm having a difficult finding a supplier. I was unsure how to contact them on their website. Laura's channel turned me on to the material alternative to drywall. Need to find a source!
There's a comment in this section of @mingyang1890 that talks of a provider of clay in the USA
In these videos of you working with clay in the house, and the whole factory full of workers, no one's using dust PPE? I've dabbled in ceramics and do pottery in my spare time and in the UK we have all been told so much about the dangers of long term exposure to silica and silicosis which you can get from breathing in the clay dust. Are the standards less strict in Germany or is this a different type of clay which doesn't contain as much silica? I'm genuinely interested
i wonder if the sand in alaska could work. have they tried their product in subarctic locations?
I'm not sure. I think you have to heat the house before applying. You need liquid water for mixing and moisten the walls for preperation. But then you have the moist in the house until it is fully dried.
I'm a little confused about what they were doing at the skip and bickering over pipes and brass bit. What was going on there?
Two very creative people were invited to plow through "candy store" of items, that sent their creative minds swirling with ideas, and they got really competitive over it! So cute!
They love to build with things they have on hand and with scavenged items. It's them being them.
Going through a trash bin…
They both wanted the brass things that they found lol
I'm a queer woman who wants children with her current partner. Seeing you make the clay for the kids' room warms my heart
I feel like if Laura wasn’t doing what she’s doing now, she’d be working there…
@Laura if it says "do not touch" - touch
if says nothing - dont touch ;)
I have a crush on Felix lol
itty bitty thumbs up icon is soooooooooo insuficcent
Pas de sous titrage en français 🥲
Who else scanned the QR Code to see what it was?😂
Your voice cut out 😔
Germans, people known for fiercely protecting their privacy.... and this German company were letting Laura and Felix wander about and goof around on their factory grounds, with a camera in hand.... "exceptions to every rule" i guess🤷♂🤷♂
