Great Video. I have watched several on this subject and this is the best by far. I did not know the last wire was optional and only was there for the switch light.
Just ordered some Toggle Switches for my truck... Switch For Subs, Switch for Cabin LEDs and Dwitch for Light Bars. The switches are supposed to shine Blue when turned on but I didn't understand the Three Prong situation... now that you played it out it makes sense, pretty basic. Kind of feel like an idiot at this point. I appreciate you making the video man, I should have known this info though lol 🙄. Thanks! 🤟🇨🇦
Perfect video! I have the exact switch and am putting a 6” light bar on my son’s power wheels Jeep rubicon lol. Rock lights too but this was too perfect lol. Thanks man!
this led light is only about 20 watts anything over like a 35 or 40 watt light i would probably use a relay. a relay will protect your wiring and switch from overheating and possibly catching on fire. if you do any wiring and you notice your wires getting really hot your either going to need a lot thicker wire or a relay.
I’m new to working with electrical stuff so forgive me for asking but if I wanted to run some auxiliary lights in a car and I wanted to add a switch to turn them off and on could I just add a switch to a fuse tap then wire the lights to the switch ? I’m trying to watch videos to see if that’s what people are doing but I’m only seeing videos about people shooting wires from the switch straight to the battery? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks brother 🤙🏽
Great vid. Very informative. Is there any way to wire it to only close a circuit without sending power to the circuit. While retaining the indicator light? Or is there a switch with led indicator the doesn’t send power through the connected circuit??? Help pleasssssse
@DarkKent did you get your answer somewhere else? Im struggling with similar. Im trying to use this same 3 pole switch on the ground side of a circuit. (similar to how one might install a 2 pole switch that doesn't have an led indicator). I too want the led illuminated when switch is on (when the circuit is live). I tried using the supply & ground poles on the switch which did illuminate the led, but did not fire up my device (a relay). Then I tried using the supply & load poles on the switch which did trip the relay but did not illuminate the led. Also tried grounding both of the load & ground poles on the switch with mixed results. Not sure what is going on there. If I cant resolve this easily, Ill have to rewire the whole thing with switch on the hot side of the relay.
@@DarkKent Thanks for the reply. I spent so much time trying to understand why it wont work on the ground side, and I gave up on that. I've learned now tho, that the 3 pole switch needs to be wired on the positive side of your device. I spent nearly an entire day rewiring it to get it to light up lol.
Would you be able to make a video on how to wire a momentary button through a 15a fuse to a 12v battery and powering something like a lamp? 😭 a lot to ask for but I’m so lost trying to do a school project (I didn’t choose this course & ion know anything about it)
If suppose I use 40 amp fuse in this circuit what will happen, we have to use only 10 amp fuse on this circuit???? and also I have 12v 55w h3 halogen headlight which i want to directly connect it to 12v battery which fuse iam suppose to use? thanks
uh so not for a car application, unless you're using a battery pack? or you want to run a wire through the firewall and all the way to the car battery.for a simple LED light. there has to be a wire under the dash you can use ?? that's what I was hoiping for anyway.
In the video i said 15 i meant 10
THANK YOU!!
I'm an electrical idiot. You are a rare person who shows in plain example how to wire these switches.
Great Video. I have watched several on this subject and this is the best by far. I did not know the last wire was optional and only was there for the switch light.
Can you just ground the toggle switch to any ground to get the indicator light to work or must go to battery negative?
you should be able to just ground to any good ground
@Ripsky ty

Thank you. So simply explained.
I have a led to setup my car but I noticed that other videos have a relay. What’s the relay for? This video didn’t need a relay.

Great video..probably didn't need to connect 2 wires to fuse..1 side direct to battery..shorter the better
Thank you. This video is very straight to the point and well explained.
Simple but clean and straight forward thank you
My switch has three contacts on the back but theyre not labeled. Is there a way to know which is what? Thanks for the video.
Thanks for keeping it simple and easy to understand.
Exactly what I was looking for
Thank you.
Does that ground have to be on the negative part of the battery or can it just be grounded?
it can just be grounded
im subbing because u used a fuse!
lolol thanks
Excellent post

Great Vid, thanks. Saludos de México.
You have any video installing 2 Led bars to that same switch?
great demonstration
Needed this. Thanks!

@@chris-topher I gave up and got a different switch that works as intended

No need for a relais? Would this not drain the battery?
Can you use a rocker switch with a 12v rf switch? So you can turn on off with remote and on off from cab?

Hello there, Iam having h3 headlight of 12v 55w halogen which I want to Connect directly to the battery, how much amp fuse Iam suppose to use. Thanks
What if your switching the ground not the +, no way to get the light on the toggle to work?
Can i do this for a 48v lithium battery that powers my Razor electric bike? I want to make a power on off switch

the wire would probably burn out before the fuse. the fuse is just there to blow before your wire does.

for the led light you can attach it to any ground.
🍻 man 💯👍
My switch doesnt have conveniently labeled terminals...😂😂
Load...etc...😂😂😂
👍
The best video
Is the fuse necessary or can it be done without the 10 amp fuse ?
Use the fuse!
@@Dominoid86haha learned the hard way almost caught my car on fire 😳💀
Nice l’y donne and explained
Ty soooooooo much man
thats the same type of switch on my bike , I thought it was called a toggle switch,😅
USE FEMALE DISCONNECT CONNECTORS!!!!
Too brave to use a fuse
(Spent all my money for this month have to make do)
Would it work if you’re using a 18v light to a 12v battery?
I assume it would work just not as bright
