    It’s interesting that you mention the cycle of life and rebirth. If you watch the produced video for this song, that’s exactly what is depicted. It starts with the birth of a young girl who has deer horns nubs, shows her growing up naturally in the forests with her antlers growing larger, and ends with her as a grown woman charging against a musk ox using her fully grown antlers. You pretty much nailed what it’s about.

    I can go on for hours about Heilung but after listening to them for 6 years a thought occurred to me. They are most likely the closest thing we will get to actually having a Wyld Stallyns. Their music touches the "soul". I've seen them 3x now, the 2nd time I wept and shook for the 1st 3 songs and it was one of the best experiences of my 51yo life. 3rd time I was front row and was pummeled by a stage diving warrior. FANTASTIC!! Just dive in where it started and look up Lifa Full Show and strap in, btw it's their 1st live performance and it is something to behold.

    Heilung IS METAL in its own right! It is of Folk-Metal genre. Heilung is a featured band at metal festivals in Europe!

    I've watched the official music video for this song many times, this is the first time I've seen the live performance. I'm totally blown away by how talented these people are, the live performance is 100% faithful to the video. Given the complexity of the composition, that is just amazing, and so rare these days.

    I've been to two of their rituals, the first being their 2021 performance at Red Rocks. I can't even begin to describe the live experience. My father is a musician, I've been to hundreds of live music events and professional concerts, and nothing comes even close.
    For a recommendation, check out either "Krigsgaldr" or "In Maidjan" from their Lifa show, their very first live performance. The show has definitely evolved but there was something electric about that Castlefest performance.

    Just subscribed. Saw them live a few weeks ago in Greensboro NC. I'm 79 and have seen countless concerts in my day and their show is spectacular! I dare say the best I've ever seen. Very theatrical "Rituals" and my God those amplified drums. My chest is still vibrating, lol!

      @allanreacts The best produced videos are from their first live performance at Castlefest, 2017 even though it's with the old set. They've stepped up their game. You watched the first professional video of their new work. Castlefest favorites are "In Maidjan", "Krigsgraldr", "Othan", in that order. "In Maidjan" th-cam.com/video/kmWTZ3KfnXE/w-d-xo.html

    Their live shows are rituals. Every ritual begins with someone sage-ing the stage and the audience before the band come on and go through the opening ceremony (that bit you quoted that starts "We are all brothers...". There is very little communication with the audience - at the London ritual where this video was filmed, Kai, the Shaman, ended the ritual by whispering "thank you" and that was all any of them actually said. The final part of the ritual is Hamrer Hippyer and is like a Bronze age rave, with the warriors jumping into the audience to lead the dancing. It is spiritual and cleansing. I left The Hammersmith Apollo, where this was recorded and said to myself "oh, I'm back in the 21st Century".

    Heilung's music is pretty wild. I have been to a concert with them a couple of times when they have been through Denmark. Several of their concerts are like being part of a prehistoric ritual. It's not just music, it's a total performance.

    "Like he is in a trance". Funny you should say that. The singer is a modern day shaman and he has said he doesn't "perform", he is doing a ritual of sorts. Healing - like what the band name Heilung means

    Heilung seems to be hard to react to, not because it is unfamiliar to us, but because it is an unrealized familiarity that touches us on a level that we didn't expect. Consider what you just watched, a group of strangers wearing clothing a thousand years gone, telling you a story a thousand years lost and doing it in a tongue a thousand years dead. All that gives you so many reasons not to connect what what you saw, but you did anyway and without any effort on your part.
    To second another poster, you really need to watch the video of this for context.

    I am going to echo a few comments by saying that you should really check out the official music video they did for this powerful song. It tells the visual story, and it is deeply moving in a primal and spiritual way. These folk and what they call "Amplified History" are, somehow, touching something deep within people all over the world.

    Heilung (healing in German) is a band I discovered a while back and delved into. They are really into runic folk stories and presentations, and it is certainly something you have to get used to. Take the lyrics with a grain of salt since even the band does not know the meaning of the words. The lyrics were taken from bracteates, which are phrases on coins from the Roman era. I saw an interview with the band and they said they intentionally used bracteates that they did not know the meaning of, and there is only one word in the song that they know the meaning of. They use instruments that were available to ancient humans using bones, skins, and natural materials and their stage attire is historically accurate Nordic Bronze Age clothing. like you, this is not something I listen to very often but does make a nice change of pace.

    • @metalzonereactions
      @metalzonereactions  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's quite interesting about the lyrics, in the interview with Kai I didn't catch that part. Definitely a unique approach there, I can see it being challenging too. I'll admit I was a little skeptical of this, I thought it might be too gimmicky, but they've really pulled it off very well, and surprisingly catchy as well.

      @@metalzonereactions Wanted to make sure my memory was correct so I did a little snooping. It was in an interview posted on the Season of Mist channel on July 28, 2022, which was about the time I was looking at their music in depth. I believe the female lead was telling about it.
