Heilung is truly an experience. If you're interested in delving into this genre I'd also suggest a Nordic folk group called Wardruna, from Norway.
Yes, Helvegen.
@@marta150 Kalandra cover is awesome.
@@aselle1709 Yes, I love. As well as their song Brave New World
Yes, if you can attend a ritual live, you have to. It's lifechanging. Your reaction was so profound and true to anyone with a soul. Fabulous!
I never tire of Heilung reaction videos, because I love to see other people experience them for the first time, just like I did mere months ago.
Im trying again😅 Wardruna feat. Aurora. Helvegen❤ They had lot of the music to the show Vikings. Please?❤
I'm Happy you found them and I really cant wait for more reactions from Heilung, Like Norupo or Krigsgaldr live. They did the Soundtrack for Senua's Saga. Lovely greetings from Germany. ❤
Grüsse!
I would love to see you react to more of their stuff. It's so amazing! I also would love to attend one of their performances someday.
Heilung is great in its own way. Saw them twice and it is like a ceremony. You have to be "ready" to enjoy their music. but those drums help a lot to get you in the right mood.
I have seen them twice and I need to again. It’s such an amazing thing to feel!
“Traust” live from Red Rocks April 2024 is one you need to check out. I highly recommend it!
Heilung is German for healing, and they truly do heal the soul. The world needs more Heilung 🖤
There is and has never been music more special than Heilung. I feel blessed and lucky to live in the time of Heilung, and hope more and more people continue to discover them to allow and guide us to regain our compassionate roots, reminding us of who we are, and uniting us within a world of uncertainty, violence, and chaos. Heilung, you are a guiding light to cultures worldwide, thank you for everything that you create and share.
Such a lovely reaction. I cried again when I saw the music take u.
I recommend the music vid for this.
Chris & Maria are regulars at European festivals in their band Euzen.
Kai ( throat singing tattooed Shaman.) joined their Pagan community group.
Maria grew up in Norway near a Long Boat museum, & took part in re enactments.
Chris is Danish. Kai German.
They made their own clothes & instruments, & honour the animals with them.
We did all live in harmony once, with each other, the animals & the Earth.
Our Ancestors want peace.
Greetings from Glastonbury UK.
Heilung appearing at Castle Donnigton festival here in UK next week.
They did the soundtrack of the game Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. The other band other's in the comments said Wardruna worked and even appeared in The Vikings series.
I have tickets to see them in November I am beyond excited
I've attended one of their rituals, it's indescribable. Check out the live version of "Asja" from their latest album. Do a deep dive with this band, enjoy the ride.
I saw them live on my birthday in 2022, it was a spiritual experience to say the least. Just amazing, I barely had any words afterwards
I was privileged to experience a Heilung ritual here in Seattle a few years ago and it was nothing short of magical :) For anyone who haven't been able to do this, I HIGHLY recommend it, even if you only see them once. It will change you
Heilung is an experience. I would call it a ritual. Being in the crowd isnt like a concert. Its a congregation
Saw them live at red rocks back in April. It was an amazing experience
For better understanding the meaning of the song, of Anoana (a great female shaman of the bronce age era) you must watch the origin music video of this song. Joey knows that...😁
"HEILUNG" German for healing. At the beginning of their career, they had problems with the authorities during concert tours because many of the instruments are self-made and consist of real human bones, ash, skins and bones from real animals... the group had its breakthrough with their very first live concert in 2017
Yay!!!! Heilung! I sent you recommendations on Patreon! This band is amazing! I saw them live two years ago. It was a truly transcendent experience!
They did a soundtrack for Hellblade 1 & 2 videogame.
Check out what they did for the last Game Awards for Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga!!
They actually call their performances as rituals so ritualistic is not wrong :) Also they have built many if not all of their instruments themselves using natural/historic materials. The band actually got some trouble from customs agents because one of their instruments was done from human bone
They call their shows rituals, so you can call it that. Also they just released new tickets for almost every continent so you can check those. Im going too!
*it's almost like their music is from past ages*
Not almost.. Heilung is a Nordic ritual folk band with members from Denmark, Germany and Norway and their music is based on original artifacts and traditional texts from the Iron Age and the Viking Age.
P.S you should check out the official video to this song, it's freaking GORGEOUS!
It also puts in context the meaning/basis of the performance.
Agreed, you really need to watch the video. It is beautiful, and the audio is so incredible. Welcome to Amplified History!
Heilung is modern music blending multiple genres and techniques not native to Nordic countries to interpret Iron Age materials for a modern revisionist audience. Please do not confuse this modern expression with actual music that would have been experienced and enjoyed by actual Vikingr. Heilung's music can be an amazing, talented, and even spiritual experience, but please do not confuse it with actual historical music.
@@RavenThrash-ne9ew please stop talking and read their own description for the band. always these fkn internet experts lol
@@voodjin Hey, guess what? It's the internet, baby! Anybody can say anything they want. Even a band can say anything they want about themselves. Except, oops, notice I DIDN'T say anything about what the band says. What I did say was not to imply that Heilung's music, awesome though it is, was a historically accurate representation of music from the historical period and traditions that would have been listened to and enjoyed by the Vikingr. Which is kinda the imposition your original comment made it out to be. Yes there are historical references and all, but not even the instruments and vocal techniques they primarily use are period accurate for the Norse peoples.
If their music makes you feel empowered or invokes a spiritual experience for you, that's great, that's what it's supposed to do!
Inspired by, yes honey, but drawn from, no, it's really, really not.
One thing I think we'll agree on though, it IS a gorgeous experience for the ears.
I was there on this show. How do you feel? You feel like nothing you've ever felt before. It is otherworldly
Heilung is what happens when history nerds decide to create a band and put on a show. (I'm old, so young people 'putting on a show' was a popular trope).
Heilung is just beautiful. They call their shows 'rituals', and I think that fits.
Sept 11 in Vienna, thats when/where you can experience them for example 😊
They’re mindblowing ❤
It's our Indo-European roots calling my brother. Heilung's rituals are meant to heal and unite by amplifying history. They start every performance with this:
Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted
Habibati! Apologies about the watermark but the video was blocked. If you want to see it without the watermark you can head over to patreon
Taking under consideration your Arab ancestry, I would try to find the song "Nikkal" by Heilung. It's loosely based on ancient Hurrian hymns from Mesopotamia /Syria.
heilung did the Soundtrack of hellblade, watch the hellblade trailer, if you havent watched that allready, it will blow your minde :)
Do Yourself a Favor see the Video they made to It. It is beautiful.
another of theirs i enjoy is their cover song Nikkal which is their version of the oldest known song in human history inscribed in cuneiform on clay tablets excavated from the ancient Amorite-Canaanite city of Ugarit. (modern day Syria)
I saw them live and it was amazing! It was truly magical, an incredible experience ✨
Heilung, simplesmente ESPETACULAR!!!
Hey, loved your reaction, just great.
If you can see them live, just do it. I saw them 2022, it was amazing, eye opening, loved it, they draw you in their world they are creating at their rituals. Another well known and great one is "in maidjan" also live.
I saw Heilung almost 2 years ago fort the first time and that was unbelievable experience! I didn't understand a single word, but I experenced so many stories and felt so many incredibly strong emotions. If they play near to you, definitely go and see them live because if you liked this, your head will explode. I'm sorry to tell you, but it's imposible to capture this band on camera... You have to be there!
On 7th September they play again in Czechia (formely Czech Republic, center of Europe) during a festival in city called Trutnov. So I'm going! ☺
On top of that, there will be another band playing, called Zeal & Ardor. I didn't know them, so I played 5 songs on the TH-cam, felt totally in love since the first song, now I've heard their 2 latest ablums and I don't know which of these 2 band excites me more. 😂
Anyway, if you want to check Zeal & Ardor, check their song Death To The Holy (official clip has awesome video too). Then if you like them you can check Church Burns... That one is great too.
BTW heir style is combination of black slaves chanting and black metal - weird combination, but it f***ing works! 🤘
They started from a reddit challenge or something like that I believe.
i recommend checking out stuff from their gig at Castlefest 2017 the songs In maidjan or krigsgaldr are a good place to start
Haha your first impressions are more accurate than you realize. They do not do concerts, they do rituals. And yes they make their own instruments out of animals and humans. Seriously, look up what instruments they use, and how they made them. I saw them headline on of the nights at a festival on a farm in England last year, absolutely transcendent. Amazing vibe, and the drums shake you to the core. Amazingly they are coming to NZ this year, so I jumped on those tickets.
I bought Hellblade II primarily because they involved Heilung for the soundtrack. You could react to their performance at the Videogame Awards, which is live and then backed by the trailer featuring them.
th-cam.com/video/WSeM-COjbhs/w-d-xo.html
Funny you should wonder how someone could open for them. Eivor is opening for them here, and has done many times. So I looked her up. Oh my gawd, she is incredible, and it makes so much sense. I am so hyped to hear her live, you should definitely check her out, her voice is insane. Having shivers just thinking about it.
Eivor - Falling Free
th-cam.com/video/KNPIdGBn7M4/w-d-xo.html
But yeah, definitely hit up Heilung again as Anoana is a good entry point.
Normally try to not throw recommendations in my comments as you will receive so many, but Heilung and Eivor are actually life changing,
actually that was a GREAT point on Your behalf... Heilung them selves reffer to their shows as "rituals" and the goal is to involve the audience in a mutual spiritual experience... and speaking of soundtracks, I don't know if You ever heard about the game Hellblade, but they did the soundtrack to the second installment called Hellblade 2 (Senua's saga)... and it's so spot on it's insane
I believe that large bowed single-string instrument is a psalmodikon, a particularly large example of one, love the sound
A: Soundtrack to Senua2, Witcher is Polish and Heilung is (mostly) inspired by Old Norse.
B: don't remember the question haha, but I owe my life to this band. Don't think I'm alone. Heilung means healing. Music is powerful, and this helped me.
C:Like you said, a concert is like a ritual. They've had them all over the world
You're in it now!
Don't back down. Do everything from Heilung.
You won't regret it.
I promise you goosebumps.
👍
More of this group please. 😀
Heilung is a whole experience to listen to.
The female vocalist, Maria Franz, also sings in the band Euzen, which is well worth checking out as well, if only to hear a slightly different side of her incredible vocals.
This band started the same way a Joke would start.
A Dane a Norwegian and a German walked into a bar... And well. Started a band.
Almost. The Dane and the German talked about it. and then build it. And then the Norwegian joined.
And the Dane is known in the music industry in Denmark. So he got a lot of his friends to play instruments and such for many of the sounds they use.
More from the original Lifa show, please.
A portal to an ancient purer world, that was exactly how I feel when I hear Heilung...
They made the soundtrack of Hellblade 2 :) They are phenomenal!
Hello I’m a Dear! But i love Heilung and their music to!
Heilung is awesome. They base their music on Germanic/Nordic history, but it seems to hit all of us in our souls, no matter where we come from. "One with nature," YES! The male main singer, Kai Uwe, writes most of their stuff and apparently he often finds his inspiration out in nature, doing 'spirit walks' and such.
You are correct on your points. They do not sing songs, they perform Rituals. And having seen them live I can confirm, no video can begin to convey the atmosphere created by this amazing group. Those amplified drums pound your chest. One of the greatest concerts I've ever attended. Do not miss them if the opportunity presents itself. You will not regret it!
I saw them in Chicago and it was once-in-a-lifetime experience. When they toured in the US, they invited many local Native American nations to open their shows. But they are all about northern Europe, the Viking era and more. They incorporate runic texts into their lyrics. They make their own instruments.
@@lydiak4524
They not only invited the local indigious tribes to join them, they started off every place they planned to have their rituals by asking every local tribe permission to perform rituals on their land.
THEIR land.
Now that is respect.
@@lydiak4524 Same in Greensboro NC. Opened with Native Americans.
I loved the analogy to their music being something of a different dimention - I get the very same feeling. They recently released another live song - Traust. I think you would love it too!
They are truly an experience 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The Best video! Thanks for your reaction!
Heilung (pronounced 'Hi-lung') don't do gigs or concerts. They are rituals. I was at this ritual in London and it was an amazing, spiritual experience. Most bands have recorded music playing before they come on stage, Heilung have nature sounds playing - wind rustling through trees, bird song and distant howling of wolves. Before they start, someone sages the stage, gear and audience. The band walk out and chant to open the ritual:
Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted
A suggestion for a future Fresh Friday is Rolling Quartz a KRock group.
her voice is insane :)
I KNOW DUDE, I KNOW...😂
Check "Heilung | LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE"
Heilung is amazing. 👍❤️👍 Yes, they sing rituals
I also recommend Wardruna as others have but also this band from the Czeck Republic called Deloraine.
My favorite is their music video "Ragnarok" but you mentioned The Witcher so here is one of their amazing covers from The Witcher.
.(Better than anything Netflix came up😉😂😂😂)

Great reaction🤘🔥🤘
🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
Habibi, Your reaction to Ratatata made Electric Callboys "Reaction to the the Reactions vid"
Do more :)
As great as this live performance is you should also watch the official music video so you can understand the story being told. Its spectacular.
Heilung came together out of a mutual interest in Dark Age re-enactment; they did initially make their own instruments as well as their own costumes. They sing in a variety of old Northern European languages including Proto-Norse.
I think the disclaimer about political movements is there because white supremacists have unfortunately tried to co-opt Germanic paganism and traditions. The non-terrible people are put in a position where they have to actively distance themselves.
React to Huitzil by Porter.
It also has a tribal feel but makes more sense
for another fresh friday suggestion, check out Sam Perry's Grand Beatbox Battle Showcase 2019. Swim in harmony my brothers and sisters
They are rituals. They make most of their own instruments from natural materials, a lot of bone used. There is a full performance of their album "Lifa" on TH-cam. It's a beautiful way to spend an evening.
"Heilung" is the German word for "healing" or "cure". Sometimes I think listening to them brings out feelings from deep inside that we ignore or hide in our modern world.
It may not be for everyone. But, dang, they are special.
the stringed instrument is from the Indian subcontinent
It's called Tagelharpa, Talharpa, Jouhikko, Scandinavian Bowed Lyre and it's from northern Europe.
@@funsun. according the the heilung wiki its a Ravanahaththa from India
@@somthingbrutal Ravanahatha use horse hair same as Tagelharpa, but look more like a big stick. I guess it is older than the Bowed lyre but not the same.
Maria is playing a bowed lyre called a tagelharpa. Chris is playing a larger version of the tagelharpa. Electronic wise, they do use a looper using natural sounds.
So many great suggestions in the comments so far. I love In Maidjan from their first LIFA Ritual. They also just released a new LIFA video for the song Traust recorded at Red Rocks 2021.
Do they use a Hurdy Gurdy in this to get that scratchy guitar riff?
Can you react to Latin Nasheed? Its amazing honestly
A Heilung concert is a Ritual, from beginning to end. It opens with an invitation to the gods and closes in the same fashion.
They didn't make music for the Witcher but for Hellblade 2.
Try “Heilung | LIFA - In Maidjan LIVE” next.
wardruna and aurora did a duet, bit similar genre, truly magnificent. yoo really need to hear it :)
Hey Arab Man, they are touring in Europe this autumn, but most shows are sold out...
You should also check out Wardruna and their song Lyfjaberg (the music video is pretty cool and has got english subtitles)
Yesssss😊💚🍀
Great reaction, Boudy! Thanks! Here is another one: In Maidjan, recorded live at Castlefest 2017. It’s 12 mins long, but its worth it. (added it to the sheet as well) th-cam.com/video/kmWTZ3KfnXE/w-d-xo.html
Totally 2nd this.
Please, see video of this song. It' s amazing and You will know who is Anoana💚🍀💚💙
Witcher is slavic and already has Parcival.
Amplified history... well, they got as far as possible with research to go back in time, but you can only go so far. The rest is making it sound right/legitimate.
I love them, but are they historically accurate? Nobody knows, but probably not.
Paganism, just saying. Be open and respectful and love and peace will be victorious.
Heilung's music harkens to a time when only Damascus and Jericho existed as cities. We're talking 8000BC, when the Proto-europeans split apart and left the Steppes of the Black Sea and ventured North into Europe and South into Iran/India.
Heilung let's me speak to my ancestors.
“Heilung” is the German word for healing
and unfortunately you pronounced it completely wrong.
Ernsthaft?! Kannst du nicht einfach zuschauen und den Vibe feiern? Man man man ….
No Vid - No half of the Fun, Sorry Arab Man.
No sabe ni lo que les gusta😴😴😴😴😴😫😪😫😫
They did the title song for Hellblade 2 game.
