I have been selling full tine on Etsy for five years. I love how many more people are interested in Etsy in 2024, it can be intimidating to start on a new platform. If anyone has any questions about selling on Etsy, I'd love to answer you!
So glad I found this video. I’ve been hunting for updated SEO info as I am just now starting to list my stuff. This kind of SEO makes me so much happier than the word salad version. Thank goodness. Thanks for the info!!
This is super helpful. Thank you for going over their policies with us. I'm binge watching your videos and they are sooo great!!! Keep rocking it, Hannah!!!!
Did most of my research and finally going to open my first Etsy store today, on my sweet baby girl's birthday. SEO was the final piece of the puzzle, I trust I have come to the right place. Thank you ❤
Thank u Hannah, I’m a former Amazon seller and totally lost in the Etsy world. Appreciate u sharing your insights. I’m trying to optz my listing and get sales back to the volume I need to survive. Appreciate u!!
Enjoyed this. Very informative. I've focused so much on getting my Etsy shop full of listings, and I always knew in the back of my mind that I would need to focus on SEO and marketing, now I know much more about SEO thanks to you, and will focus on that first along with organic marketing, as I don't have a proper ad budget yet.
First time viewer - enjoyed the content and will follow for more. Be advised that within the "Tagging Don'ts" section of the Etsy SEO Handbook (Keywords 101), it specifically refers to plurals as being unnecessary, and comments about the algorithm being aware of a plural and its root word.
Ugh...I just spent an entire week updating my titles based on what another course said (doing the way you showed not to) - guess I will be spending the next several days replacing them all again. Makes me really wish Etsy had a revert to a certain date feature. Thanks for the video.
I have changed all of them 3 times since November as well, and that's for 150 listings 🙈 but they are performing much better than the previous one!! 450% increase in visits from seo in last two weeks 🙌 but I have high priced products so only one sale from it 😄
Thank U so much Hannah this was very helpful I've only made a couple of sales and was thinking of giving up I appreciate your support keep up the great work!
First: thanks for the info. You really know your stuff! Second... Seeing you do your own "stock footage" is somehow really distracting lol. I'm so used to it being a new stranger for each stock shot that seeing a familiar face there is weird haha 😂
Hey Hanna! Thank you so much for this great explanation! I just have one question: do my tag words or phrases need to make sense? For example, in the example you provided, after writing our main search tags like thin green scarf , lets say I decide to use a tag like "Great Gift for Wife" which makes sense, but could I also add another tag that uses for example just adjectives and write: "Warm Cute" (which does not make sense)? What if I use up all the 20 characters available and write something like: "Warm Cute Handmade"?? Would this work for searchability? Thank you so much for your answer :)
Hannah, great video full of real and practical advice! I am somewhat familiar with website SEO and I want to get your thoughts on these topics: 1) You covered SEO in an search on the website Etsy website. My google search results often contain Etsy products ... how closely do you think Etsy SEO is linked to Google SEO? 2) Following on from above, Google searches strongly favour natural language. It seems that Etsy is going that way, do you agree? 3) Using the Etsy API, alt text can be supplied for uploaded images which is very important in web SEO. Do you use this SEO method on Etsy images? Sorry that was a bit long but I am an SEO nerd, I suspect you are too ;-) Ben
1) you def want to optimize in accordance to google if you plan on running offsite ads, with the exception of a few things most things that are high-ranking on Google are going to be high-ranking on Etsy as well
According to SS, Etsy has put limits on the competition column. The number doesn't go above 1000 in many cases. I am currently working with SS on this.
if i cant find low comp keywords should i just choose words that are relevant , for example if im selling matching shirts and theres two keywords in the results : " thanksgiving matching shirts", funny matching shirts" should i just choose the words that are not repeated in those two keywords like 'funny' and 'thanksgiving' and try to put it in the title??
Hi Hannah! I need some advice! I started a woodworking etsy shop in 2020 and just recently put it on a break in 2023 at just under 500 sales. I want to start a POD etsy shop - do you recommend I start a brand new page or relaunch/rebrand my existing page? Thanks in advance 😊
If you already have momentum on the existing account, I would keep it in that account since it’s way harder to open a brand new account nowadays especially for POD
No worries I had the video on in the background while gaming and kept thinking I was hearing things from the game lol, I've had an Etsy shop for 10 years and will implement your tips to generate some more sales. I've been slacking on updating my store >.< Cheers@@EcomHannah

Actually I have opened a new shop on etsy and I have leather products.. but I was looking for some catchy keywords which is used by people. so in your video on 8:10 your were showing keywords,Like how people searched .. I also tried that method but I couldn't get.. so I was asking did you used any third-party app for keywords search ??
Thank you Hannah for the great tips! What you think about this scenario: In my Tags I have the main word but then I write the main word with a s in the end (to make that plural) and in in reverse so I make 3 tags. You think i'm wasting 2 tags ? Etsy will automatically reverse that (If someone type in reverse for example) and make that plural as well ? Thank you! (Sorry for a bit of confusion haha)
No I think that is good, but try to have long tail keywords in your tags as well so for instance "Silk Scarfs" instead of "silk" and "scarfs" separate, mix up and play with placement too
Odd question, but in my very niche market, I didnt invent something, but I designed something that isnt really in the market, so when creating keywords, its hard because no one has really searched for it. What do I do in that situation?
Use the detailed words but also think of broader times it could fall under, gift for her etc could you share more info on the item I could see if I could help out more
Wow. I'm getting ready to open a store and just watch a video where they worked the title so it has a bunch of long tail keywords. Baseball Gift for Her Baseball Mom Shirt for Baseball T Shirt I Love Baseball to create long tails like: Baseball Gift for Her Gift for Her Baseball Mom Shirt Mom Shirt for Baseball Baseball T Shirt I Love Baseball and others inside the title She also did a second title mixing up T-shirt, tshirt, and Tee Shirt I definitely need to figure out how to approach it.

Sometimes the only keywords that are available are the high competition keywords. The key is to have a product market fit as well.
If I am selling T-shirts, is it a good idea to include t-shirt in all of my tags (vacation t-shirt, t-shirt for family, monkey t-shirt, etc)
Yes, you can but also analyze your top competitor tags as well

Just tried switching my character to commas. They still count towards the character limit.
Yes, they still count. They just don’t count as their own character
great content i just subscribed however please turn off that "zoom in bass boost" sound clip its extremely annoying/distracting :)

to create long tails like:
