      As far as what to test?

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You’re basically testing two variables, the main image and the value proposition so that is how you bundle the item, every month in my company for example we have a launch schedule of how many listings we’re gonna bring to market and that launch schedule is comprised of 50% new products and 50% split testing against our last best thing or trying to revamp products back from the dead. Pick a number that is realistic to you and stick to it the winning is that you have a consistent inflow of new products and test running at the same time and what you’re looking for is profitability with ad spend, not all of your listings are gonna make sense with ads on and that’s OK

      Me too! Except I pivoted at 20 items. I was making everything artist related because I’m an artist and these are items that I want. Then I did some research and saw that less than 20 people per month are searching for related items. Now I’ve been researching and making things that people are looking for, but I still enjoy making. The latter is very important. I want to stay true to myself as well. What do you sell?

    • @EcomHannah

      We don’t know, and it’s not worth the time to try to figure it out because it’s a super cryptic algorithm but we have to ask ourselves what do we do know, and what are the best practices to set ourselves up for the best case scenario outcomes to have it happen more times than not

    Great video!! I’m having a hard time with Etsy ads. I would love to be able to put all my money to one ad in particular to test it rather than however many I have chosen. I would love to narrow in on individual listings rather than Etsy just picking and choosing what it spends money on if you know what I mean. I’ve been told to not mess with the ad algorithm though. I do have a best seller that gets most of the ad spend, and I would love to put more $$ behind some of the others that only have a thousand views… am I missing something? Or do I just need to up my daily ad spend for this to work? 😅

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Its natural for the top 10% of items to eat your budget, but the winning is to continue to launch and grow the 10% to a larger bucket if this makes sense. As you continue to launch and test new or existing items the algorithm is going to pull out the ones it likes and this is going to grow your 10% bucket. The only way to increase this bucket is by launching and continuing to test listings. Out of every 100 new items maybe 10-20 become those all stars that make sense with ads on and now the 3 that are only spending money will turn into 13.

    Hi Hannah!
    I have a digital product shop where I sell educational resources for teachers. Most of my items are priced around the $3 - $10 range and I have Etsy ads running for the last 6 weeks.
    Do you think its worth increasing the ad spend from $2.50 since I'm only getting a couple of orders per week?
    Thanks x

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s definitely worth it, but in low margin spaces like this you have to be really strict about what you leave on and create strict thresholds for yourself, you need to gauge your profit percentage after you factor in your ads spend and if it still makes sense. Also a solution to this is focusing on higher ticket, digital downloads, and bundles to sell so you can increase your sale price.

    If we look at an actual maker, someone who makes products with their hands, and let’s say they can make 50 pieces per week max if they work nonstop (less if they also care about seo, good photos etc.), and they start ranking high on etsy, but their stock is limited, then what happens? They will quickly lose their high ranking or no? If they lose their high ranking, then etsy is now truly anti-handmade, and pro-pod and corporations.

    • @EcomHannah

      So we handmake all our goods in the USA, and we have a strict inventory management system, it is shop suicide to go out of stock, inventory management is an entire system for your company you build by analyzing past sales history and making projections for the amount of inventory you need for the future

    Usually I recommend your channel to people when I'm helping people with their etsy shops, but this video....😒
    There's soooooo much more involved in ranking high than just location; in comparison to other factors that's a tiny one. Price, photos, shipping time/cost, reviews, convo reply speed... plus more. You can get pushed *back* too, for things like refund cases, cancellations, loss of a SS badge or even selling too much. User personalisation also factors huge in where you rank and buyer behaviour accounts for the majority of our visibility score.
    Some searches youll turn up in you've got no business being in 😂 but the algorithm thinks your buyer is good for it. Search is far too ethereal to be strategic in anymore.
    IDK most of the advice in this vid is not exactly bad... you are good at what you do, it's just vague, with a clickbaity misleading title/thumb. I only write this to make it clear for people watching. The best way to 'rank on page 1' is to understand what page 1 of *your ideal buyer* looks like. But it's a roulette mostly; some search results are more like an AI test than an accurate return on a search query.
    Bottom line is no one should be relying on Etsy traffic in 2025, consider it a bonus. Even huge shops come into the forums regularly asking why their shop died, people having to suddenly fire employees, go back to work, borrow to pay rent - in a matter of months. Ads can only help a bit, but there's an algorithm in there too.
    Sorry that's long 😅 its actually the short verson haha

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I reference location in terms of how Etsy shows you in different places in different locations, but that has nothing to do with SEO. I never made that claim. I would suggest re-watching the video.

      @@EcomHannah I didn't say you mentioned location for SEO, you mentioned it as part of how search displays. I don't want to argue about it, but I watched this right through, twice, and I don't think I mis-heard or failed to understand anything. You talked about different things you say will 'hold your rank' - value proposition, high-search keywords and ads. Stuff that sellers should be doing in general (like I said, it's not bad advice), but as far as earning and keeping high rank, no - the stuff I listed will do much more. Some of what I listed you mentioned in passing but it should've been the main feature instead. 🤷

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No this feedback is good, it helps me see where I confused people. The point I made about location is, Etsy is cryptic on how they show you for example in different locations you appear on different pages but your location does not determine how you show up (which is what you are saying I said) location affects nothing, so its not well time spent to actually try to track your ranking since it does not exist unlike platforms like amazon where that does exist. Better time spent is building a strong value prop. A strong value prop is comprised of all the things you and I listed, strong images, bundling, pricing, personalization, variation options, etc so I think where I lost you is I did not more clearly define what a value prop means. It encompasses all things that contribute to perceived value where most people spend the majority of their time on keywords where that should be the last 10% of the job. I later said I could spend more time than a short video showing case study examples of how to build this value prop so I suggested going into my free course that takes people for free how to set this attributes up.Hopefully this clarifies.
