Tom Delonge (the guitarist) has stated in interviews that he wrote this song in his driveway in a few hours when his parents were going through a divorce.
Interesting (if morbid) fact that was the first music video they recorded, on September 10th, 2001, I think, or a day or two earlier. They scrapped the video and re-recorded another one, thinking the imagery was too similar to the towers falling.
i respect you breaking it down bro coming from a white boy that grew up in the trenches in philly I still rocked with some music like this here and there and this is real life my mom left my pops when i was a new born for being abusive and i firmly believe boys need a man in the house I took to the street and did a lot of dumb shit really lucky I ain't dead or in jail lord knows I should be but men if your listening raise your babies man they deserve that shit....
Divorce in my generation which is the blink-182 generation was something that you were supposed to not really have because it meant you had a broken home. Nowadays it's just normal. Nobody cares. It's fine but there's pressure back in the day to make the happy family which destroyed children on a regular basis. Nowadays it's just normal. You have three wise four wives. I don't care. It's fine, just don't hurt your own kids. You'll be fine
This song hits home for me. Loved your reaction. And I liked how you questioned “destroyed from divorce.” But anyway, just subscribed to your channel. Keep it up bro!
My mother stayed with my dad because of the kids. I have two sisters, both younger. They're completely different. We all are completely different from each other. We don't like the same things. We don't like to have the same politics or any of that stuff. You know we're completely different from each other. But all of us are not talking to my father. I've cut him off completely. My sisters are amazing people and they just want to believe that he will always do the right thing for them and he just never will.
Mental and physical abuse were many and far-reaching when it came to marriage and divorce. The laws we have now are not the laws we had before. Or even the right to protect ourselves from exes. But we have those laws now so it makes sense that you wouldn't be able to really relate. And I'm really glad that you don't have to relate to that. I love the younger generation. I'm so glad they're changing s*** because it has to stop.
It's so weird that you think it's toxic parents when it was not toxic parents. It was a toxic generation who s*** on their kids. They didn't care about him. Just one with the flow.
Definitely there best and most Serious song

I just listen to this 30min ago. It's cool to see you react to it. Can you do "Beverly Hills" by Weezer.
