This song is basically about there falling out and getting back together.
For context. Travis survived a plane accident and mark had cancer. That’s what he’s referring to when he said it shouldn’t take a sickness or planes falling out the sky. It’s what brought them back together

I actually shed tears listening to this song and seeing them as boys grown into men. I a grew up with this band. Wow 😲. The years go by. Cherish every moment

Mark had cancer, Travis was in a plane wreck and obviously survived.. The song is far more beautiful if you know the bands story. Not talking shit, but you had no right reacting to this song.
