Thanks for your tutorials! "Clouds are free", I like that! I was painting today and had an underpainting for an image I didn't like that much and felt intimidated by what I'd have to change to get it to where I like it. But your approach to pastel painting and your various videos on working from crummy photos or using a random underpainting for something new gave me the confidence to just give it a shot, change course and work on something I like better. And it's looking great so far! There are many pastel painters on youtu es, and i love all their videos. But your videos often make everything seem so approachable and easy, it really helps beginners to just go for it. And also, your video on pastel papers and how you can reuse sturdy pastel papers if you don't like what you did with them changed my outlook on the cost of good pastel paper. I don't have to be too precious with it because if I don't like it, I can always scrub it off and start fresh. So thank you for all you do on youtube, I appreciate all your tutorials!
So glad I found you. Im gaining a better understanding of layers. It’s taking me awhile using pastels but I’m slowly gaining more confidence and it’s starting to come together. Thank you
Omg, beautiful. Understand compliments vs muddy now and producing grey in such a beautiful way. I love this. Thank for lesson on skies, I so enjoy skies. Thank you for sharing your process blows me away in the reveal. Wow 👏👏👍👍😀❤❤❤
Karen, thank you so much for filming this lesson! I am going out of my mind because I have suddenly forgotten how to paint skies! 😥 You have done me a tremendous world of good!

I shall try to paint 25 as you suggested in our class!! Thank you for sharing! Love love love how well your Patreon page is doing!!
Thank YOU Linda!! Thank you for suggesting Patreon to me. It has been so much fun. So happy to hear about your new house and studio! I know the skies must be amazing!!
Such incredibly succinct instruction. I feel that my painting has improved the short time I have watched your videos and joined your patreon membership. I am learning how to get the most depth and usage from my intense dark Terry Ludwig pastels. I was not applying them correctly or at all. Thank you so much, Karen.
Just amazing. I enjoy every (very early) morning one of your painting tutorials. They all kick me in the behind to look beyond the moving boxes and imagine my my new studio. ... A few moments of your motivations keep my brain and my mind occupied with the joys of painting. ❤️
Hi, Karen. I’ve been painting animal portraits in pastels, and want to try landscapes. Just found you on TH-cam and love your teaching methods. Your eye for color is amazing. Am looking forward to learning more.

Hi Karen. Loved your clouds. I just got some pastel paper, I'm new at pastels. Anyway, I was wondering what the difference was between Uart 600 grit vs 400 grit. Does the 600 have more tooth?

Will oil pastel work as well?
What brand of pastel are you using? It seems very soft.
Great...thankyou.
Шикарно!
16:12 Is that sky finished?
Hi Karen. Loved your clouds. I just got some pastel paper, I'm new at pastels. Anyway, I was wondering what the difference was between Uart 600 grit vs 400 grit. Does the 600 have more tooth?
600 is less toothy. The higher the number the less tooth.
@@KarenMargulis Thank you! I was confused b/c the 400 and 600 for Uart were the same price and I just thought that the toothier the more costly. lol
can you do in paper plss
❤️
beautiful, but please zoom the camera out in the later part of the video :)
Noted! Thanks for watching!
