You are an excellent teacher, Susan. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing your talent and expertise. I feel the same as you about the joy of painting with music. The journey is everything. You see the magic and beauty of the landscape as did Monet. The name suits you, and he would be proud. ❤
I'm still learning, and one of the things I find very informative about this is how you talk your way through the process, making decisions on color and placement. Thank you for the priceless insights.
Hi Susan. I really loved to see you painting those marvelous clouds! You are very didactic and explain everything wonderfully well. It´s a real pleasure to watch your instructional videos! Keep on showing us your wonderful Art... And you have such adorable friends! They are so sweet!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful art and techniques. I home school my 13 year old daughter and we were able to follow your tutorial step by step and learned so much on how to even structure a landscape. We are so happy with the picture.
Finding time to go through some of your older videos and I love this one. I have just recently been able to start making art again after many years of having health issues that prevented me from doing most artwork. I have been an artist all my life & after being away for so long I feel almost like a beginner, again. The “gift” that the Lord gave me is still here but it hasn’t been nurtured for a long time. Thanks for being an inspiration to me. Pastels have been my favorite medium since I was young. I LOVE painting landscapes with broad sweeping skies. This is a beautiful tutorial. Thanks Susan. God bless.
Bless you Lisa, and I pray the Lord heals you. I’m grateful for Art through many of my challenges. It really helped me through my cancer battle. God be with you sweetheart.
Another great video. I'm getting ready to try soft pastels soon. and want to learn whatever I can before (and when) I start. I'm learning a lot about colour and values here. Oh, and I love your cows. Very cute. What a nice view. And Diesel looks cute. Thank you for sharing so much.
New to pastels and trying to do clouds. I have watched this video twice and it has really helped me so much about the colors you choose and shaping. Thanks!
Cannot begin yo tell you how much I learned and enjoyed this painting. Carving of clouds and trees then the sky hole. Amazing. Thank you for sharing your work process in video ❤👏👍😁

Also thank you for showing that value is key and how to be creative with color from there😁 I really enjoyed watching you layer the values and build up the form of the clouds and trees. Watching you do this helped me realize how much I over-blend. Your painting is beautiful!

Thank you so much I learn a lot from all your videos. I just became a patron of yours too. I've been painting with mixed mediums for over 50 years,(yikes ) Encaustics for 10 years, and recently adding cold wax. Love it all :) Pastels have always been a favorite so I am happy to have found your channel THANKS!!! Love watching and listening to your commentary, VERY informative!! Thanks again Jeff
Hi Jeff, I saw that you became a patron and that makes me happy! Pastels are such a wonderful medium even though, like you, I like mixed media and getting creative myself. So I’m excited that we will be sharing this artistic journey together and thank you so much for being a patron of mine.
Hi Susan. This video really helped me with a cloud project I'm working on now. In my painting, I did the foreground with less detail but it kind of looks blah to me, just kind of empty. I like the way you added more detail color in your painting. I know you said you wanted to have the sky more of the focal point or the main attraction, so to speak, but I think you did a great job by putting in some color detail in the foreground. I can see, too, that I am making a mistake by blending my clouds too much. Thanks for this video, even if it WAS over a year ago. lol We can STILL benefit from it so thank you for that. xoxo
Thank you for answering my comment. Didn’t know that your selection of music was limited. Now I know that you are a real person....haaaa you are so good with your paintings.

The video I made just prior to this one shares about some some of the different pastels I use and I have a playlist with videos on pastel products 👍🏻👍🏻☺️

HI Susan ,Just found you and glad I did will follow your lessons and learn from your techniques, do you have to fix the pastel painting on the La Carte card, are you related to Gary Jenkins the oil rose painter.
Hi Frank, so happy you found my channel and I’m not related to Gary Jenkins. And I actually never fix my paintings no matter what surface. I find that fixative always darkens the final piece. Pastel paintings actually don’t need to be fixed for longevity or color. To keep them from being smudged I keep them in clear plastic bags I get from www.clearbags.com. I often paint in standard sizes so I buy the clear bags slightly larger than standard sizes because I’d like to put a piece of foam core board in with the painting for support. This keeps them safe for allowing others to hold them and view them, and for shipping. This works well very well as a system prior to framing under glass.
Hi Susan, for this painting I used a variety of soft pastels (Sennelier, Unison, Mount Vision, Great Americans and more). If you are just starting out I recommend Mount Vision as a good starting place. They are not too hard and not too soft so great for multiple purposes. I have a video where I tour their manufacturing plant and show some of their starter sets at the end of the video. Let me see if I can find it and I'll share the link here. :)

Dinner in about 36 months time. We have farmers in our family and that’s just reality for beef cattle. Hefner’s might live longer. But the cruel thing is their bull calves will die almost immediately, they aren’t good beef cattle. There’s are lots of harsh practices in farming where money and profit means a living for the farmer and their produce of course feeds us. If we didn’t eat meat, billions of farm animals would die being not viable to rear and too expensive to keep. Some breeds would die out without mankind because they’ve been bred entirely for our use, not survival in the wild. Ours is a cruel world. But nature does the same thing, everything eats everything else at some level. Even vegetarians kill their veg. And west and corn etc.m to eat. So if we keep our animals kindly and as naturally as possible, despairing them as painlessly as possible that makes me feel better anyway. Sorry, but that’s reality for your neighbours. A short hopefully happy life.
