I have watched this so many times and have used it perfectly once, but I hadn’t quilted in a long bit. I got bored and made a bunch of bags or purses. So, I got back in the mood watching yours and other quilting videos. I’m a lazy quilter, so it took me a couple weeks to make a simple trip around the world lap quilt. Lazy. Lol. I just get bored really fast. So, I’ve finished it and put the binding on. I thought I remembered your method. Well it turned out all twisty. So had to use Jack the Ripper…lol. I tried this 3 times. Still twisted. So I watched your video again. Three times to be sure and while I was doing it. It worked first try. So, thank you again. I had to walk away a couple times. The quilt was in danger of becoming the dogs blanket. You saved my quilt. 🫶🏻
❤
You make so much sense with this method. So often I connect them the wrong way or sew them the wrong way. So very frustrating. This method is brilliant. Thank you.
Where have you been all my quilting life?!!!! 😮😮😮 You deserve an academy award for that tutorial, Ma’am! 🏆🏆🏆
Wow, thank you!
I love this demo. It works like a charm. No more twisted binding mistakes!!! I’m probably responsible for 750 views cuz I pull it up every time I bind a project!!! Thank You.
Glad it is helpful!
Was so so happy you mentioned not to cut until you check!!!! I’ve been quilting for years and I STILL make that mistake every now and then. TY
I've never seen 1\8" gap before. Thank you!
Perfect! My mom taught me this YEARS ago. Just don't cut til you check!
Good work ❤
I tried this and I always ended up with a twist in my binding….God I hate being so stupid…..
I don't know how you figured out that technique but you're a GENIUS!! How is that perfect? It just is. Amazing!
I use 1/4 " and longer tails.. dont cut off till sewn.. figured it out years ago.. I do pin and mark because my quilts are big
I am so directionally challenged! Your tutorial is perfection for me. I want you to know that I’ve been quilting for years and this is the best tutorial so far! 👏👏👍 Thank you.
An Einstein moment, I need to try this. Thank you.
I agree. The most brilliant I’ve seen. Thank you🎉🎉🎉
I agree with you!!
This is a great sewing tip idea! Thank you so much for sharing!❤
I wish I could hug your neck. I have watched a dozen videos on connecting my strips. My ends always end up twisted and a mess. You dumbed it down wonderfully. I'm so grateful. Thank you.
Hug accepted!
@@merrymabelmarket…Me too! Me too! Lol
I don't quilt, but that was clearly some sort of Wizardry!
The full video "Bind like a Boss" caught my eye and has changed my quilting life!!!!! Thank you so much for demonstrating this! I am forever grateful! ❤️🙏🏻 Now every time I bind, I hear your voice in my head 🥰
I am so glad that our video has been helpful to you! Thank you for sharing.
Love it!
"Don't trim until you check or you'll cry". Yep, I may have cried a couple times because I trimmed before I checked and my binding was twisted.
Great suggestion.
Love this!
What a great tip! I will certainly try that…Thank you😊
Great tip!
After buying all the binding tools I watched this video and 10 minutes later I'm done. Best Easiest video EVER. THANK YOU ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing! This is brilliant!
Brilliant!!! For sure! Give me your quilts people...now I'm eager to bind! 😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Great to see that old technique demonstrated so clearly. It can be very hard to follow and understand when it’s poorly demonstrated. And for anyone who wonders why do they want to use this method - it makes a very smooth join because the bulk of the folded fabric is spread over wider area instead of all being bulked in the same place if you just stitched them directly across
Thank you! This worked PERFECTLY! I love how you said "because you'll cry." 😂 It's as if you know me well.
I am SO GLAD to hear of your success!!
Awesome. So easy. I always have to redo the end because one side is usually turned the wrong way. Thank you. ❤️
Absolutely the easiest most full-proof binding method. Thank you!
You bet!
My quilts are usually twin size throws, but I struggle with the binding. I get so excited when it works. I followed your video today...watch, pause, do it, watch more, pause, do that. When it turned the right way and fit perfectly, I jumped out of my chair with a loud YES!!!!!
Thank you so much for this video. ❤
I am SO TOTALLY glad!!!
How clever!!!! Must save it!!!
Thank you for this tutorial! I've always struggled with binding, especially the last join. Your instructions are so easy to follow. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I would like to thank you for sharing this tutorial. This is by far the most efficient and EASIEST tutorial to finish a binding. I have come back to this over and over again. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I watched your Bind like a Boss (I think that was the title 😂) My final straight stitch on the edge can use some practice, but in the final join, PERFECT!!! This was my first time to ever bind a quilt!!🎉🎉🎉. Thank YOU!! 🤗♥️
I'm SO glad!! Cheering for you from here!!
I've finished 2 quilts EASILY with your help..Thank God for your assistance
So glad for your success!
"Don't trim until you check because you'll cry!!" Ain't that the truth. 😢😅😂
Sharon Schamber taught this fab binding technique long before her 2011 youtube tutorial. 1/4” gap is better, fyi. Leave 10” of binding unsewn on each end, to allow for opening, overlaying, and stitching.
Glad you have a method that works.
Thank you, I stopped at the end of my binding to play this and it came out perfect. Thank you much!!!
Oh, my word! Where have you been all my quilting life? I’ve been quilting for over 10 years and I’ve tried many many ways to join the ends of my binding and never had much luck. But I followed your directions and it turned out perfect the first time!!! I’m in total awe!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!
You are SO welcome!
I watch this every time I bind a quilt. Which is not often. I need to, but I put off the actual quilting part. There’s always another pretty pattern to try. lol. Thanks again, you’re amazing.
WOW!!! Gonna TRY this one, hopefully I'll GET IT RIGHT. Sewing is not for the faint of heart , it's HARD. I really respect those of you that CAN DO IT and then make it easier too.
This totally works. You'll love it.
This is EXCELLENT!!! Thank you for the simple demonstration. It works great 👍🏾 ❤
You are so welcome!
Great tip
Watched this short twice then did it first try. A never before feat for me! She’s a lovely teacher.
Thank you! WE are SO glad.
❤ THE BEST TRICK IN 10 YEARS
I have been quilting for a few years now and this is the first time my binding finished beautifully and without tears. Thank you!
Wonderful!
Thank you
"don't trim until you check or you'll cry" could have sworn Eleanor Burns took over the sound!
We love Eleanor!
I had my FIRST SUCCESSFUL JOIN today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ve watched so many tutorials on joining but have not been successful until watching yours. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great job!
I was taught this method in 2002. Still use it and love it. Always works.
This was the EASIEST binding video I have ever found! It really works and I actually got it right the first time !!! Thank you so much for sharing this great tutorial!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. This and corners are my nemesis with binding
There is a full demo that we did for binding including the corners. I hope you saw that.
@@merrymabelmarket I haven’t yet, but I will do so. Thank you so much for your help.
Tried this method yesterday. It worked great, but next time I’ll have to leave a little more of a tail to work properly. Thanks.
Do you have a tutorial on completing the binding? I noticed that you sewed the binding to the back. How do you finish it? Machine? If so, do you show how you do this? Thanks!
Here is the link to our full binding tutorial. Please watch it and let us know if it helps. th-cam.com/video/onjcpIz4xgo/w-d-xo.html
I just did it!! I always have trouble with the last step of binding. This is brilliant!! Thank you so much!!!
Great job!
Thank you.
This is my favorite tutorial on finishing the binding on a quilt. I come back to it every time I forget how to match the ends.
Glad it is helpful!
Cool ❤
I used this method tonight on a baby towel. It was the easiest method I've tried. Thank you! And yes, check before you trim because I would have been crying. Lol
Thanks for sharing!! Good job.
This is brilliant!! I watched this a while back and I now I’m closing my binding your way!!! It looks straight and nice each time!! Makes me happy 😂!!
SUCH good news!!
That's the experience you're talking about 👏🏻
What a great helpful tip.
I only wish I had known this little helpful tip years ago when I did a lot of sewing for other people. It would have made life much easier 😊.
Thank you for sharing your video with us.

Thank you so much! I just had this yesterday and I forgot my old method completely. It just left my mind. Haha.
Fantastic!
This is the BEST EVER demo, thank you!!!!!!
I'm so glad you liked it.
I never saw anyone make this step look so doggone easy!! Thank you!
I have always had trouble with joining my ends. I was amazed at how easy this method is to do. I got it right the first time! Thank you so much for sharing this method!
Wonderful!
I've have watched this so many times! 😅 I'm doing mini quilts for my front door. By the time I'm done with all of them, I'll have the muscle memory to not have to watch it anymore 😂🎉 Thank you, love! It's a fabulous method!
What fun!! Great project!
Thank you for this video!!!! A decent closure has been more of an issue for me than corners, lol. Thank you.❣
You are so welcome! We do have corners in our longer video if you need more help with those.
Thank you so much for this fast, fun, and accurate way of doing this awful step of binding! You are a rock star!!
Glad it was helpful!
Yes, brilliant! Love you Dawn!!!!❤
Thank you!!! I had this video on repeat just so I could get it right. After 3 tries, I finally got it. First quilt almost completed🎉
Glad it helped! In the longer binding video it is shown (twice) at 6.39 if that helps for next time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Yours is the first binding tutorial that worked. And like a couple of others have said which I agree, thank you for being straightforward and not a lot of chatting. I’m a cut the mustard and let’s get it going person 😂 from here on, your binding tutorial is the only one I am going to follow. Thank you again ❤️
Great to hear!
THANK YOU for the clearest demo on this method I have ever seen xx
You are so welcome!
This is my favorite TH-cam video. Love it!
Wow, thanks!
I tried this for the first time yesterday and it was amazing!! Worked perfectly, no matter how much i would measure i just could never get it right. But i did first try with your technique! Thank you
Amazing!
Thank you!!! I finally did it correctly thanks to your video. I don’t even know how many times I had to use the seam ripper. Then I watched your video and got it right. I’m finishing up my first quilt. Thank you again ❤
Excellent!
YOU ARE BRILLIANT ‼️‼️ Thank you! I think I can follow this method easily- and you’re ‘saved’ to my playlist ❤. Have a great day!
Glad it helped!
This is my go to video. It works so well!! Thank you.
I love hearing your voice when you explain it!
I’ve been doing my binding like this for years! Works great every time. I do pin however but not where I’m sewing.
I also sew the binding to the back, press the seam on top flat with back so it’s going towards the turn towards the front, then using clips clip the binding to the front. I machine stitch along the edge on the front. I do get a line of stitches on the back so I use bobbin thread that matches my backing. My quilts are made for use for family and friends not competition so I’m happy with this method. I have arthritis in my hands a bit so this works well.
Thank you for sharing.
I've never seen THIS version!! Luv it!!
Thank you for this visual and audio tip!!! Gotta try it!
lol..."you'll cry". Great tip. Thanks!
Gonna have to try this method of finishing binding as it looks easier than ANY other method I have ever seen a demo of!! Thanks!!!
This is how I do it too. I leave 1/8” gap and also put it 1/8” in from edge which is how yours look too. My method for joining is a bit different. Yours looks easier. I’m going to try it. Thanks
Right on
I don’t have a need for this …..yet. Thank you for the teaching moment.
I need to watch this like 50 times. As many times, as I’ve put binding on, it comes to this point I blank out😢
There is a longer video on this subject if you think it would help.
I love learning tricks on sewing. Thanks for sharing!
You clever, clever woman… love this tip. I do something similar BUT pin. Now I won’t. You’ve given me the push to trust my judgment! 😊😊
Good! A girl should always trust her judgement!
I know this as the “lump less” binding. Your way is easier!
"lump less" - tee hee
That was AWESOME, thanks for that trick ❤
Perfect! Such an easy method. Thank you!❤
I am so thrilled about this demo. I have tried and tried and tried for years to try to get my ends to meet . I will try this today. Thank you. Looking forward to more of your tutorials.
There is a longer version for binding if you want more help. I show it twice on the long version.
Best Wishes for success!!
Thank you
Wow. I have always struggled with finishing my binding. Watched this once and it was perfect!!!!
I'm so glad!
I love to make quilted placemats for gifts and binding is my least favorite part. I'll have to try this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
With time, you can get so good at this that it will be a breeze.
This is much easier to understand. Thank you!
I'm so glad!
"Smarty Pant's"....Thx Sew Much ...I just have to watch it a few more times....looks easy peasy
That is so easy to understand. Thank you, thank you.! 😊
Wow - stop it! how good is this - thank you for sharing!!!!
I happened to find this video the other day. I have struggled getting the ends sewn. This was brilliant, demonstrated so clearly! Thank you!! Perfect first time I tried it!!
I'm so happy to hear it helped and worked for you!!
This is how I do it, but I use a ¼" gap. Perfect every time!
Brilliant thank you
