I like to think that Damars biggest regret was that he didn't have a camera recording at the time. If he did, he'd have that clip of Worf snapping Weyouns neck set so it shows every time he turns on his computer in the morning. Something to cheer him up at the start of the day.
@Ronald McDonald Not really fair to compare not knowing what Casey Biggs was told to accept the role of Damar with not knowing how to pronounce the word "origins"
Weyoun was so Trollable, though I have to admit, the early Weyoun was much more fun than the later ones. I guess all that dying didn't exactly improve his disposition any.
That "maybe you should talk to Worf again" is pure hilarity. Mixed with Damar's actor's great acting. Man, the Cardassians are like my favorite Star Trek race.
always had a unique appreciation for the cardassians, the classic middle men of good and evil, barring Dukat, i have to Say Damar was one of the few characters you couldn't help but like. He went out like a true bad ass
earlier in the episode where Damar shoots Rusat, he had received the news of the Dominion finding and executing his wife and kids. Kira's painful mocking of his question, "What kind of people give those orders?" forced him to recognize that the Cardassians were once much like the Dominion in how they treated Bajorans. His line, "his Cardassia's dead, and it's not coming back," is both an acknowledgement and apology to Kira for how her people were treated during the occupation. He wasn't just acknowledging the facts. part of what I love about DS9 is that the character growth goes hand-in-hand with how different races' viewpoints of eachother change. This was an important moment for Kira, former Bajoran resistance fighter, and Damar, former Cardassian oppressor-turned-resistance-fighter.
Recently there was a kids show called Transformers Prime (spoilers for it ahead btw)... At the end of the show, after spending the final arc of the series possessed and controlled by Unicron (the Transformers devil), Megatron is freed by the Autobots and helps banish Unicron. Once all is said and done, the remaining Decepticons turn to him to start their war anew and the Autobots quickly put their guard up. However, Megatron stops them... He declares the war over and the Decepticons disbanded, then turns to Optimus Prime and says, "I now know the true meaning of oppression, and thus have lost my taste for inflicting it." That's what Damar went through here.
Casey Biggs gave so much personality to Damar. His 'Well, Hello!' is so demonstrably unimpressed, and his laughter in the middle of 'talk to Worf again' is so natural.
Garak's face at the end is priceless and telling. He recognizes that Dumar's perspective has changed, and that Cardassian is sealing his own fate with his rhetoric.
Nice little touch where Damar tells the guards to pick "that" up instead of "him when referring to Weyoun's body. Damar doesn't even see Weyoun as a person. Just a tool for the Dominion.
...I always liked to see Jeffrey Combs act in these shows, whatever alien race/antagonist they had him play... ...his portrayal of Weyoun made that character an excellent villian, and his portrayal of Brunt of the F.C.A. (Ferengi Commerce Authority) was a brilliantly nuanced prefomance, being an excellent foil to Quark, bringing the right amount of humor to a bad guy and adversarial situation... ...but I really think that the best part he played was in the series "Enterprise", as Commander Thy'lek Shran of the Andorian Imperial Guard, that was a great character... ...they always gave Jeffrey Combs good characters to play, and he did a good job portraying them...
Anyone that's worked someplace longer than a few years can relate to Damaar. Dude's like "Nah fuck all this, I know I'm a cog in a wheel, and the wheel's made of shit, so fuck you, fuck me, fuck everything, because who gives a shit"
That little standoff over Kira and the Breen weapon is so good. The music is battling itself, just like Damar, and the line delivery is absolutely phenomenal.
Hey Weyoun, could you wring someone's neck with those hands? Yes I could, Damar. The amount of times you constantly remind me, I really could. Tell me, how many fingers do the vorta have on a hand then? Five, just as you do. You'd surely already noticed? And the other? It's the same of course. Oh. Snap.
Probably because Damar's storyline sees him find a truly worthy cause to champion, whereas a lot of Dukat's story ends up wheel-spinning due to his obsession with power and messing with Sisko. Not that it's not entertaining, it's just not quite as compelling, ultimately.
"I'm not sure it's wise for me to stay. What if the Vorta decides to pay you a visit?" "And what if he does? He'll see me conferring with one of my officers. There's nothing suspicious about that." Indeed. It's called "Hiding in plain sight."
But the cardassian form of government runs along Democrat lines. No rights, except what the government deems you, government control of all aspects of life. Lifelong indoctrination from cradle to grave. Seems that cardassia was feeling the Bern from the get go.
“Well hellooooooo!” I laughed my goddamn balls off the first time I saw that scene. Bitch-ass Weyoun was so sure of himself and punked Damar every chance he got and Worf just twisted his stupid head off because he was so sure of himself and now Weyoun #8 strolls in and Damar with his “well helloooooooo!” god... I loved it! It was so perfect.
It's not Neroon's line, but I often share the laugh with him... "The next time - the next time you want a revelation - could you possibly find a way - that isn't quite so - uncomfortable?"
Favourite lines: "Well hellooooo!" LMFAO "Maybe you should talk to Worf again!" LOL "I'm sure she'll understand, but if she doesn't, I look forward to meeting Weyoun 9." xDD (actually laughed when I first saw that line) And even though it wasn't shown here: "Guilty as charged." 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 I find it so funny how Worf just snapped his neck so quick and easy. That'll teach him not to say anything stupid next to a Klingon again.
Such a cold line "I look forward to meeting Weyoun 9" since Damar already knows the first target of his rebellion is to destroy the cloning facility where any future Weyouns are stored.
I think we should remember Damar was a military dictator. He just wanted a Cardassian one, not serve as a Dominion vassal. After the war I don’t see him as embracing representative government.
Assuming he survived the final assault instead of being shot, he wouldn't have been allowed to serve in the new government anyway. The Federation alliance would never allow it, and instead would only install pacifist civilians to the posts.
Damar's character development is one of the best ever written. First he's just a boring and bumbling henchman, then takes over and grows into the boots of Dukat's role as a chief villain, then becoming drunked demoralized and hopeless, then into a heroic freedom fighter, and lastly a tragic martyr
Perhaps the Cardassians or the Dominion for that matter don't want any kind of evidence as to the nature of the torcher that goes on in their prisons to be used as propaganda against them. Another possibility there are some types of cameras or future tech sensors observing the hallways but Demar disabled them off-screen prior to helping them escape, he did have the ship with the proper access codes ready for them. Damar planned Worf and Dax's escape it wasn't just a spur of the moment thing.
No. The Breen were acting under the Founders and surrendered with them. There were Breen representatives at the signing of the Surrender Articles. I am not sure what that meant for the Breen but the armed conflict was over before the fighting got to the Breen homeworld.
"Maybe you should talk to Worf again." Great line, superbly delivered.

HO HO HO😂
Its funny how Damar started off as just an extra, until he became one of the most pivotal characters in the show.
And did a great job when he became he started to despise the Dominion

Damar is compelling. Gets you right in the cockles.

Weyoun in sinister whisper: "And you know how ruthless the Cardassians can be"

Carl Knight when did he die?
The last episode I think when they reached the Dominion headquarters on Cardassia.
Paul, I would delve further in Damar's remarks and state that he is genuine and sincere in forming a new Cardassia.

Damar, Garak, and Dukat were the three characters on this show that I think best represented Cardassians, for better and worse.
