    If I decide to buy this (or any CE-1 preamp-only clone) and a separate chorus pedal (e.g. Boss CE-2w), where should I put the chorus?
    Before the preamp, or after the stereo output?

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a case could be made for either configuration. I would put it after if you wanted to have a stereo chorus (a dry output and a wet output). If you put the chorus pedal first you can only ever have a mono chorus.

    What a nice tone. 😍 You've made it! I have owned a vintera 60 mod two years ago. Same style as your strat looks. But the pickups are so harsh and cold. I am going to change thr pickups. What are yours? They sound amazing!! 🤩 Can see there are staggered polepieces with no curved edges. So I guess these are no 57/62 and no fat 50s or 60s.
    Are you using CS 69 pickups?

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much 😊 my pickups are just stock 2017 American Pro ones!

    Dude, your crom the Soo. I'm from the soo originally, maybe you had my old CE-1, lol does it say hub or hollis anywhere? Sold lots of killer old stuff when I was there in the 90s, lol

    instead of doing a demo of comparing the JF-1 to the CE-1, can you just do a video demo of hearing how a dry signal sounds vs. how it sounds with the JF-1, maybe doing one segment playing clean, another slightly overdriven, and another heavily distorted.

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Though it is not a direct comparison with the JF-1, I did demonstrate what my clean tone sounds like with or without the CE-1 in the second episode of my series "Sound More Like John Frusciante" th-cam.com/video/lSpeLyiaKIs/w-d-xo.html

  • @waynegram8907
    @waynegram8907 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does John Frusciante always use the CE1 preamp in the LAST in the chain? Do you know what compressor he used for the red hot chilli peppers under the bridge because i think its the MXR micro amp stacked with the CE1 preamp to get that clean tone then goes to a compressor unit. I tried various compressors and I can't get those Frusciante tone so I'm thinking that under the bridge trademark frusciante tone is the MXR microamp+ CE1 preamp + compressor pedal?

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, he only ever had his reverb after the CE-1 (sometimes on one side only). As for the compressor, there's footage of him using the MXR Dyna Comp during the recording of BSSM and recently it's been on his live pedalboard for the first time. I don't think he used the MXR Micro Amp until the By The Way era!

    Does John have his Preamp "Always on"?

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As long as he has the CE-1 in his signal chain, his signal will always be going through that preamp

      Interesting! I thought the left switch on the CE1 could turn it off.

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That switch turns the chorus/vibrato effect on or off... but when the modulation effect is bypassed, the signal still gets amplified by the "level" control @@bjcalifornia333

      @@JFXPedals that’s good. A lot of people seem to think the preamp is a big deal but I don’t believe this pedal was even used during MM or BSSM

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theycallmejpj that's true! At least in the studio. If I recall correctly, his CE-1 was broken during the recording of BSSM so that's why he was using the FX65. No idea about MM but I think Michael Beinhorn really pushed him to have more of a "heavy metal" tone on that album. IMO, It's not really the tone he's known for. Anyways, the CE-1 is obviously just one piece of the puzzle but I really prefer my sound with it in my signal chain!

    May I ask a question?
    Is this pedal designed to be connected before the preamp section of the amp?
    Or is it designed to be connected after the preamp section, like the CE-1?
    sorry if my english is bad.

    • @JFXPedals
      @JFXPedals  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the same circuit as what is in the CE-1. I typically run it last in my pedal chain before my amplifier. So before the amp's preamp.
