To answer a few questions.
1. No, I didn't leave the towels in the heads. I took them out just not on camera. It's one of those things I didn't think I'd have to explain... But hey! That's the internet for you. Don't leave em in.
2. I don't know why it's okay to block the vents in the rear of the block. But that's what GM and Holley say to do. 🤷♂️
3. I didn't install the torque converter properly. I didn't follow proper seating procedure and ended up destroying my trans pump. It was an easy and not terribly expensive fix, but cost me a few hours. Watch a video on it.

Dan, when installing the torque converter to the transmission you should always spin the converter while pushing it in a couple of turns so that it connects to the pump!!

Yeah i did one on my 4L60E i had to spin in to lock the converter in the pump
Trever Cogburn isn’t it like 3 clicks or knocks and then you know that it’s fully seated
Blake’s 66 Chevy yessir three clicks, sometimes you have to turn and twist for that third click
its astounding how many people are super into this since so many were like "keep it stock man" before
I was down for anything lol
2 things and this is from experience with transmissions my dad rebuilds them I've learned alot along the way
The converter
Most converters when you buy a new one come filled so filling yours is actually not a bad idea, either way it would have worked
Second make shure the converter is installed properly believe it or not it's not just slide it in if it's not in the trans far enough itll will blow up the pump I didnt see you put it in so you may have it on right

Steps to install LS: Scrape off your junk, Bust a nut, Torque your bolt , Shove it in, and Nut up. Never knew LS swaps were so kinky 🤤

Just to throw in my 2 cents, there are tabs on the harmonic balancer inside the spokes to pull from so you don’t have to worry about cast iron chips flying into your eye balls.

Hey Dan make sure you are torquing bolts down in intervals. Do not torque it down in one go. But I love watching the series. You never cease to amaze me at the things you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. Keep it up dude.
Using the crank threads to pull on the harmonic balancer is a solid way to rip the threads out. Toss it in the oven for 20 minutes at like 150deg or hit it with heat for ~30 seconds and you can literally slide it right on.
That was a bold move, cotton. 🖖🇺🇲

Also fun fact about when I rebuilt the LS in my vette, the engine came with ARP bolts when I bought it, and when trying to get the harmonic balancer out, the bolt actually stripped the interior threads in the crankshaft. Was definitely an interesting situation to explain to the guy at the machine shop

Do It With Dan I recommend getting some T Handle Allen Wrenches, makes things a lot easier when there are a lot of Allen bolts involved.

I would suggest, if you don't already plan on it, getting rid if the pcv system all together while you have the chance. Even on a stock engine, I would run a catch can instead of blowing oil into your intake.

Just a note, i wouldn't recommend spinning an engine backwards. an ls engine being ohv generally will be fine, but on a lot of dohc engines i would be worried about jumping time.

When you remove the harmonic balancer, there are 3 tabs in the middle that are for the puller so you dont break it.

Hey Dan I am not to the end of the video yet, but you didn’t apply the oil pan gasket, 14:43 is where you put some kind of sealant, and I don’t see any gasket. I am currently at 20:37 so if you do put the gasket in after, than good on yeah. Incase your wondering how I know, is because your oil pan gasket had light blue around or near all the holes

If that LS1 is from a Trans Am or Camaro that oil pan would work fine. Most people that LS swap 2nd gen F Bodies use that oil pan anyways, especially on truck motors.
Also, $1800 for the FEAD lolllllll I'll just notch my crossmember for the A/C compressor thank you very much, or not run A/C (since your car doesn't have it anyways).

Dan, if you care about properly fastening bolts you might want to keep your hand on the center of the handle of the torque wrench, now even though the wrench "clicks" torque isn't at the level you've set up it up
Try doing exhaust manifold bolts in Canada like that. I’ll give you a pro tip. Torches will be required lol

When you put the oil pan on you should always go from the middle and then go in a diagonal just a tip
