I just read a book: the Mineral fix. One of the main conclusions was that the RDA references ranges are set to prevent certain disease (like goiter). But the optimal range for the whole body should be way higher for most minerals.
I put tincture of iodine on my skin. However I put it on my few skin tags and a small wart on my finger. After a couple hours noticed the color was gone. So I kept treating those bumps one time a week. After a couple months all were gone.

Of course what seems to be missing here is that selenium is necessary for the iodine to correctly function. Iodine and selenium are synergistic, and each needs the other to perform correctly.

I noticed that when I apply the Lugals iodine to my chest to finish reversing my fibrocystic breast masses, (also on zero plant carnivore with fatty meats to help it along, and it has been working), that the potassium in the iodine can throw off my magnesium and make me get leg cramps. So I apply a little spray of your magnesium water on my left when I use the iodine so it all balances out. Works pretty good! ☺️👍🏻
I used to react to iodine, so I put one drop in a 16oz bottle of water and had a seventh of the bottle every day. Never heard of this B4 and I'm 78... and, apparently Iodine deficient... vanished in 12 hours. Will talk to my doctor when I get my hormone shot tomorrow.
Did you put all the big rectangular patch on your arm or something? What was it a smaller patch because I think if it’s smaller, it could affect how fast it disappears over the 12 hour period.
@@IVvOOvVI Fairly large patch... several square inches and a good soaking to be sure to be able to notice if there was a change and not just from wearing off physically by rubbing.
I've just ordered some iodine drops. I've been low carb for >2.5 years (since earlier this year eating a lot more meat and the fat that comes with it) and my skin is dry; my forearms are very wrinkly - I'm 66 year old female. My legs get scaly patches of dry skin that lift off in small circles. I don't have any of the really common symptoms (at least obvious ones) of iodine insufficiency, but I'm hoping that by supplementing iodine that my skin will improve. Oh yes, I get splits on my fingers when my nails get too long, which they do now quite often because my nails are now very strong and seem to grow faster than they did.
I have been sick since 08. I have always thought it was my thyroid but my test always comes back normal. My hair fell out so bad that you could see my clothes through it on my back. 😢 I’ve been diagnosed with RA, CFS, Fibro & Celiac Disease. I’ve been gluten free since 2011 and I’m still sick! I’m better through taking supplements and eating better but I’m still sick. I do feel better on keto but something is not right with me and Drs do nothing! I’ve seen so many. I had a chiropractor put iodine on my chest & say it should take hrs to absorb if I’m fine. By the time I got home it was gone! Is it safe for me try iodine drops and see if it makes a difference?
I'd say read Soemthing like 'The iodine crisis' and you may feel better trying. There's a protocol of supplements to take before and you do what's called salt loading if you experience bromine related symptoms. I do think you should try but try after you've educated and satisfied your own mind. If you can afford an iodine aware functional medecine doc do that. Personally I did this test twice on two parts of my body and it soaked in real quick. So I started on 5 drops of 640mcg iodide (yes I spelled that correctly iodide) and felt nothing bad. Then took 10 drops a day for 2 days and now am taking 30 drops for the last 2 days. If you read thst book or watch Judy on 'Why you need iodine' with Dr. Brown stein, he gives his patients usually 50 mg, yes mgs a day and some do more. But please try and get an iodine aware doctor to help or at least feel you are taking your own informed risk. I don't believe the risk is big from those videos and books. If symptoms were heavy people just pulsed the dose, meaning they took a dose every other day. You'll understand more of what I said after watching Dr. Brown stein. 100 years ago people took like a whole Gram of the stuff and other huge doses. Huge by today's dose, which has been falsely set and iodine has been called a poison since it was falsely set. Lynne Farrow little and very readable book tells you the history as does dr.brownstein I think. His video on salt is also amazing. 😊 Take care. Disclaimer. Everyone's gotta get their own help and read up. Peace.
I agree w Ramona. I have lots of Thyroid symptoms but the Thyroid Panel always comes back in the normal range. Moved to TN & had to twist the doctors arm to get him to test me for autoimmune thyroid. Guess what? It came back positive for Hashimoto’s. He had no idea what to do about that. Had an ultrasound of my Thyroid several years later which showed 2 nodules. Seems that it starts w a cyst (on any gland) and eventually becomes a nodule and then if not addressed, can become the big C. Check out Dr David Brownstein on TH-cam. He studied under Dr Guy Abraham, the doctor who developed Iodoral. These guys are pioneers on the road to health.
You were in a stress state likely before you got sick, as crazy as it sounds learning to mentally calm down EVEN though you have all these symptoms. Your body cannot heal until you are in a calm state relaxed..it seems impossible when you're sick I understand.
My thyroid was destroyed by radioactive iodine 34 years ago. Im supplementing, obviously, would supplementing with iodine create a problem with my meds?
According to my observations, the necessary amount is usually 0.5 Tablets of Iodoral for young healthy people, 1 tablet for older people, and 1.5- 2 Tablets for Problematic Patients like Hashimoto patients. Based on tests the LIMPlab in Brussels has performed on patients. Whats your opinion on the 25mg or 50mg Iodine saturationtest ?
I've seen it said in various videos that the blood test isn't as accurate as the one where you do a 24hr urine type test (save all day then have some tested. Judy has an interview with the gentleman whose lab does a lot of that type of testing explains it well.
Hello! Thank you for this information! I am wondering if Lugol's solution 2% with 4% Potassium Iodide and 2% Iodine will work for this test on the skin? That is what I purchased. It does state you can apply to skin or take orally. Thank you!
I take at least that many drops daily. Dr Brownsteins current recommendation is 25 mg daily for adults with no nodules. 50 mg if you have thyroid nodules or cysts in ovaries or breasts. More if cancer in these areas
This is a fantastic method. I’m wondering if the color subsidies in less than 12 hours no matter what as iodine undergoes a chemical reaction when exposed to light and therefore changes color/looses its brown/yellow color?
Are we to understand from this that individuals with optimal levels of iodine do not see the disappearance of the skin iodine tincture at 12 h or longer time points? I suspect even people with adequate levels of iodine see the alcohol-based iodine tincture evaporate.
What kind of Iodine did you use here. Can a person use the stuff used to treat wounds? Please specify. I have Naka Platinum Colloidal Vegetable Iodine Drops and it is oily and without color(is this a good brand). I am assuming this is not the stuff used for patch tests.
I had side effects: heart beat up, cold sensation, depressed, tired on colourless iodine I switched to nascent iodine (Brown one)2 drops under the tongue straight Now I still take only one drop of lugol iodine as well, only one! I also take salt with it:Himalaya Pink It goes well!

You only need 200mcg. That is MICROGRAMMES. It starts to be a problem at 1100mcg. So the range that is idea is quite small. Having too much can give the same problems as too little. Generally getting your iodine from food allows the body to regulate much better than supplimenting!!!! The answer is FISH, MILK, EGGS.
People in Japan easily consume 12MG per day for centuries. Clearly you have no idea how much iodine a body needs. Plus, the more toxins we have in our environment, the more iodine we need because it is being blocked by Chloride, bromide, and fluoride. Read Dr Brownstein’s work. People are happily ignorant of the truth in the medical world. It’s time to wake up and realize the medical world has been your worst enemy, not your savior.

Selenium is an essential co-factor. Also vitamin C and others. Essential reading by D. Brownstein, “Iodine: Why you need it.” Dosing is critical as iodine must compete from bromine/bromide. Basically, DO YOUR RESEARCH before you consume any form of iodine. Also, kelp and other plant-based sources of iodine is risky since you don’t really know the dosage.

@@IVvOOvVI The size doesn't get smaller, it FADES rapidly.
A amazing DIY test. Saved your video for future use. Love your new book👏👏👏
Peace.
Hi Teresa. Please provide an update to your story. Did iodine fix your symptoms and were you low in it?
You may need to be tested for Hashimoto's thyroid disease. It doesn't show up on normal thyroid tests, I hear.
Can you use lugols to do the patch test ? Or do you need a tincture?
My exact same question. Judy?
She said tincture
Can I use providine iodine?
how come the lugols will not work ? plz explain ...
Lugol does work 😊 both for testing and to use afterward. Check this video
th-cam.com/video/6Y-pfYpxtB4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0M8NfztY9mADMhxU
Instead of ingestion, what not just keep putting it on the skin???
I will check it right away. Thank you for the good information!
Why not just take a couple drops daily for insurance. It just gets excreted out per Dr Ken Berry if not needed.
So this can only be done with the iodine tincture, not the lugol?
Why not with Lugol? I think she did it with the desinfectant one bc it is easier to get.
She answered this question at 3:44
@@stallenshe describes what kind to use, but not WHY.
My thyroid was destroyed by radioactive iodine 34 years ago. Im supplementing, obviously, would supplementing with iodine create a problem with my meds?
When you say take a drop or half a drop do u mean the measure of the dropper from the bottle or literally a drop like a tear drop?
From the dropper
An actual drop, like a teardrop. Half drops are hard, and I wouldn’t worry about that (go to next whole number).
Don’t you also need Selenium as a co-factor?
@@NutritionwithJudy 😳 Don't know how you keep all this info straight..... I think I better get your book. 😂
Would you mind telling us what is in the "iodine tincture"? It is also not listed on Amazon, description of product? (just take it----????)
This is an essential supplement for everyone's health.
I did that test a little heavier than you did and it completely disappeared in 15 minutes. Yikes. I guess I'm really deficient.
This is so helpful!!
Do we need Selenium for the Thyroid to absorb it?
How do you take a drop of iodine? Is it to be mixed in water and consume?
Yes, I take 4 drops daily before breakfast mixed in about 2 inches of water in a glass. I can feel a difference after about 2 weeks of taking it.
Always diluted in water.
I did a couple of drops where it was a dark amber...it was gone in less than an hour.
Me too
How accurate is an iodine blood test? Thryoid markers are normal but I haven't had iodized salt most of my life (10+ years with SAD diet)
I've seen it said in various videos that the blood test isn't as accurate as the one where you do a 24hr urine type test (save all day then have some tested. Judy has an interview with the gentleman whose lab does a lot of that type of testing explains it well.
Has this been tested to compare to blood work?
Can we apply lugols j crow brand on the skin or the tincture ?
When I take Lugol’s my throat swells and often gets dry feeling. It also often makes me irritable. What’s going on? Thanks.
Would love more information about kids and iodine and how to see if your child is deficient and if so how to safely remedy that.
Same thing as adults, do this test 😅
Thank you for this info. I was wondering how to get an accurate test since blood tests aren’t reliable. You’re amazing, love your channel!
Hey, Judy! Thanks for the idea. Is povidone iodine the same as the iodine tincture you’re using? :)
That was my question because that’s all my drugstore had, I just put it on my arm in a big square like she said
@@tushannasumrall4479 yes
But don't take either of those internally. Iodide is what you want for that.
excellent question- what's in it?????
Nope 😊
You say the dose is one or two drops do you actually mean drops of the lugols or do you mean dropper fulls what's the actual dosage? Thanks
One drop. Not dropper full.
Hello! Thank you for this information! I am wondering if Lugol's solution 2% with 4% Potassium Iodide and 2% Iodine will work for this test on the skin? That is what I purchased. It does state you can apply to skin or take orally. Thank you!
Thank you very much. Helpful demonstration and info.
I bought a lugols it say talisman use only , what does that mean . Is it safe for oral consumption
Any science behind?
Judy you are awesome😊
I didn't know this!!! Thank you!
Neither did I
I heard that was not a very reliable test
She didn’t touch on whether you should use 2% or 5% tincture
At 0:58, she holds it up to camera. I believe it says 2%
I accidentally put about 10 drops of iodine in my coffee this morning instead of two. No bad effects yet. 🙏🏼
I take at least that many drops daily. Dr Brownsteins current recommendation is 25 mg daily for adults with no nodules. 50 mg if you have thyroid nodules or cysts in ovaries or breasts. More if cancer in these areas
That's because coffee negates the effectiveness, I was doing the same thing. Put it in distilled water instead.
I used lugols. Does that matter. I heard a little blurb that it needs to be a tincture
If needed is it daily taken?
This is a fantastic method. I’m wondering if the color subsidies in less than 12 hours no matter what as iodine undergoes a chemical reaction when exposed to light and therefore changes color/looses its brown/yellow color?
IMPORTANT QUESTION: How do you supplement with iodine without detriment to your gut biome since iodine is anti-bacterial?
I'm three hours into my 1st iodine test and it's still looking nice and dark!
I made it 24 hours and I still see the color. I guess I'm good with iodine in my diet!
Is the patch still there, 3 years later?
@@Lifesvagabond haha!!! Not quite!!"
can u do this with lugols? for the test
How many drops approximately for the test on arm?
Thank you
As much as required to get a large decent sized patch, that is very dark brown on your inside forearm. A little at a time.
Don’t it just rub off eventually?
I had to read the comments now to find out that tincture of iodine is not the same as lugol's. Interesting. I almost tried this with lugol's. 😮
A very important distinction 😊
What if I am on thyroid medication and I did the iodine test and it only lasted for like 10 minutes?
Are we to understand from this that individuals with optimal levels of iodine do not see the disappearance of the skin iodine tincture at 12 h or longer time points? I suspect even people with adequate levels of iodine see the alcohol-based iodine tincture evaporate.
I have always had very sore breast with cysts. I began taking iodine drops and my breasts are not sore anymore.
Can't you use it daily on your skin instead of taking it orally to bypass potential side effects
What kind of Iodine did you use here. Can a person use the stuff used to treat wounds? Please specify. I have Naka Platinum Colloidal Vegetable Iodine Drops and it is oily and without color(is this a good brand). I am assuming this is not the stuff used for patch tests.
In her video, she said this is the antiseptic you apply to wounds
What kind of side effects can you have if you take a drop a day, but your body doesn‘t tolerate it??
I had side effects: heart beat up, cold sensation, depressed, tired on colourless iodine
I switched to nascent iodine (Brown one)2 drops under the tongue straight
Now I still take only one drop of lugol iodine as well, only one! I also take salt with it:Himalaya Pink
It goes well!

I did a small patch and it disappeared within 30 minutes
You only need 200mcg. That is MICROGRAMMES. It starts to be a problem at 1100mcg. So the range that is idea is quite small. Having too much can give the same problems as too little. Generally getting your iodine from food allows the body to regulate much better than supplimenting!!!! The answer is FISH, MILK, EGGS.
Watch dr brownstein..md he begs to differ...from his actual practice with patients.
Hi, I ordered iodine online, and I got this "life-flo" brand tha says "liquid iodine" "with iodine and potassium iodide". But what confuse me is that the liquid is clear and not dark as I expected. It does smell funny like meds, so It's not just water. Is this normal? Please help
How about iodine supplement from sea kelp? I found one from Dr Mercola. It’s 350mcg per capsule….
I put a long sleeve shirt on after putting the Tincture on. Will this test still work or do I need to wear a short sleeve shirt? The shirt is black so I can't see if it came off on my shirt. Also, I've been taking 3 drops the past week. Does anyone ever need to take more than 3 drops?
Whats a lugol?
Thank you so much! This was so eye opening! Can you do this test if you are allergic to shellfish. Thank you!
Yes, Iodoral 12.5, lugols 5%, tincture iodine us made from rocks. 99.9% of the public is not allergic to it

Which iodine do you recommend?
Selenium is an essential co-factor. Also vitamin C and others. Essential reading by D. Brownstein, “Iodine: Why you need it.” Dosing is critical as iodine must compete from bromine/bromide. Basically, DO YOUR RESEARCH before you consume any form of iodine. Also, kelp and other plant-based sources of iodine is risky since you don’t really know the dosage.
So , that wasn't helpful. How do you suggest people figure out how much they need?

@@fanuvkorn85 glad you're feeling OK. Watch Dr Elizabeth Bright on TH-cam she is highly experienced in this area. She recommends a patch test on the inner arm or thigh to see how quickly iodine is absorbed. Also Lugol's 2% solution, 2 drops in small glass of water to begin with. It's important to dilute it. Also having sufficient quality salt in your diet is v important too and also quality water without flouride.
I've just done patch test, 6.5 hours later patch still visible. I understand if you're v deficient in iodine the patch can disappear within a couple of hours.
So drops on the tongue or on the skin?
What % did you use?
Any reason why you can't dose yourself through the skin rather than ingesting it? My doc told me that ingesting it is potentially hazardous and bad for my microbiome?
I also read recently that iodine is a powerful antibiotic and can mess up the gut microbiome. Therefore better to absorb through the skin to bypass the gut
