Alamosa is 60 to 100 miles from everything in colorado. Leadville 100 miles, denver 230 miles, Sand dunes national park, zapata falls, the end of the sanfa fe trail every 14 in colorado. Most of the lakes, rivers and hiking in colorado. 1000 campgrounds. Tons if BLM, best four wheel drive trails. Horse back riding, rafting, marijuana. Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, best hunting and fishing.
That's all true, but Alamosa wasn't the end of the Santa Fe Trail. Santa Fe was. The Santa Fe Tail went east of the Sangre de Christo mountains and over Raton Pass into New Mexico. The Taos Trail connected the San Luis Trail to the Sana Fe Trail, but the wagon trains coming from Missouri did not go over La Veta Pass and into the Valley.
The end of the closed basin...a favorite spot...7/4/24
Wow that is nice! I must make this trip, no summer work again.
It is really beautiful here
Wish I was there!!
The violent crime in that town is despicable.
Aaaaaa home sweat home
